Afternoon all

Sunny and hot, hot, hot. OH was digging the front garden again but said it was to hot to continue so we're watching the F1.

Yes, Mel it started at 1pm but it's all the chit chat at the moment. Pleased to see you have some rain, like you said it will do the garden good. I got a text off the water company yesterday asking us not to use to much water as they were running out, then today when I tried to run a bath the water was coming out brown, needless to say it had to be emptied, so much for saving water as I had to run a fresh one about an hour later, luckily the water ran clearer that time or I would of had to run a third one.

That was nice of the lad to help at the tip Frank, you don't see many young people helping nowadays, thankfully there are a few kind ones around. The magnifying glass and talking clock will be a great help to your sister. I can't imagine what it must be like to go blind either, but I suppose you have to learn to adapt don't you?

Hope Thomas turns up soon for your Jane, like you said he's probably found a nice shady spot and fell asleep, I'm sure he won't be long, so please don't worry.

I've been busy this morning changing the beds and doing other washing, it's drying nicely on the line. I think the race is about to start now so I'll get off and watch it. See you all later.

No rain here - yet!! We don't expect any till tomorrow - maybe!! It became quite dark about an hour ago, but has brightened up again. OH is going to watch the beginning of the race while I shall sit outside! We're having honey roast ham for lunch/supper which he is getting ready, new potatoes from the garden and carrots! Raspberries also from the garden and ice cream for pudding.
Frank I've emailed you!

Would you believe our luck. We have just had a call from the restaurant to say they can't feed us today. The ONLY CHEF they have today has just burnt himself severely . and has been taken to HOSPITAL.

I have contacted another one that we use in Kislingbury, and they can accommodate us for 3.30 pm. So we won't go HUNGRY. We will set of soon, and have a drink before our dinner.

I haven't received an Email LIZ.

Jane Report 1 Jul 2018 18:38

Love the Hedgehogs Mel :-D :-D :-D :-D They look sooo cute.

Crumbs Frank that poor Chef!!. I hope he is ok . At least you managed to book somewhere else for your meal this afternoon. It must been very nasty though if that Chef had to go to hospital :-(
How lovely to have your own Rasberries Liz. I bought some this morning and icecream too .So that is our pud for tonight.

Gill,I hope you manage to hang on to your water supply. Have you been and got plenty of bottled water just in case? Brown bath water is not good :-S.I would be stocking up now on the bottled water (before that runs out too)
When the floods happened back in 2008? and my Niece and family lost everything .The water supply was cut off around Cheltenham (where Janice lived then) and she was without water for 3 weeks. I bought as much water as I could from Aldi,Tesco etc and filled my car up and then Janice and Larry drove up to collect it all. They had baths/showers and did their washing while they were here too :-D

Thomas did appear after I got worried by 3 this afternoon and spent a good 15 minutes calling for him. But he didnt look great :-S. I tried to bring him in as it was cooler in the house but he miaowed when I picked him up when I squeezed his tummy and then just went out again. He had no interest in having a drink or any food and just vanished under the hedge again. I just hope he is alright and it is the heat . But you know I am a right old worry puss.I will be on edge now hoping he will turn up again this evening.

It is Steak tonight. There is no way the oven is going on for Chips. So it will be Sourdough Baguette and Salad or Asparagus and Beans. Juat the thought of cooking is making me sweat LOL

I actually watched the Spain and Russia football match. Quite enjoyed it too :-D

Good evening everyone

I haven't looked in on here for about a week so will try and catch up on the posts later, haven't been too well I think it's the heat mostly plus haven't had a good nights sleep which is unusual for me..

Loved the pictures of the little hogs Mel and the photo of Thomas Jane, hope he is ok our two cats have spent most of the time at the top of the garden in among the bigger shrubs, the heat doesn't seem to have affected Ruby apart from she has been sleeping most of the time so peace reigns at the moment.

Paul couldn't make it today for Sunday dinner,he works every 4 weeks on Sunday and usually finishes at 2pm but this week he had to call out the water board as a pipe had burst on site and they had a job fixing it, when they had put it right and Paul was ready to leave about 3pm a sprinkler went on the blink which he had to sort out As he was on call until midnight he had no choice but to stay there. at least he will get a lay in tomorrow a he doesn't start work until 2pm

Richard had his 51st birthday yesterday he went out for a meal with the usual group of friends he also shared the date with one of the groups adopted daughter y Ashleigh who was 21. After they all went to a late film Jurassic World 2 which he thought was rubbish but I expect the younger ones enjoyed it

Morning all,

I feel wide awake this morning even though i tossed and turned most of the night ,yesterday was our hottest day our evening's for most of the week have been quite chilly but last night we were still sitting outside at ten .

Anne i hope your feeling better this heat is very draining , did you say your holiday is soon ? If so you can have a nice relaxing time away .

Jane i hope it's just the heat that's affecting poor Thomas and nothing else.

Mel i love all your little coloured hedgehogs ,are you going to fill the tray ?

I'm laying here in bed and i can see all the trails from the planes going over there's
lovely blue sky .

Right better go down and make a nice cuppa , BBL

Frank Report 2 Jul 2018 09:45

Good Morning Mandy, Did you WET the BED ??? lol lol You are an early bird. Good morning to all my other dear friends.

I couldn't settle again last night so got up and sat on the patio with a beer and a pack of cheese biscuits. I thought I was in HEAVEN. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I was awake at 6.00, made tea for myself, opened all doors and windows and sat on the patio again.

Good that Thomas turned up Jane, As much as they can be a nuisance,we do worry about them when they are not around. HOW IS HE this morning ??

Ian has a NICE JOB, doing the cladding in this weather. Better him than me. :-0 :-0 :-0 It's good that he takes a break for a while.

Gill, on our news the reservoirs are 95% full in our area. I would have thought you would be better off than us, being a more rainy area. Anyway I hope you don't get any trouble with it.

Mel, Don't you LOVE me anymore. Didn't get the photo's of the HOGS. <3 <3

Ann, I am sure this weather affects a lot of people. Keep yourself cool and drink plenty of water. Glad that Ruby isn't being affected by the heat.

We had a very nice meal yesterday. to much on my plate for me to eat. But what I had was great. I had Roast Loin of Pork, and Ros the Roast Beef. We sat in the cool area after our meal and enjoyed another drink. Ros decided to go the LONG WAY home, to show me how the area around DUSTON has developed. I just couldn't believe my eyes. No green areas left, just blocks of flats and houses. I could not live in those surroundings, for all the TEA in China. !!! Talk about A RABBIT WARREN, I can just imagine what that will be like in twenty years time.

The last thing I want at the moment is FOOD. But I had better have something with my tablets. THEN under the shade of the bush and read my book.

Stay cool if you can. See you all later. xxx

Morning all,

Another brilliant day here this morning. You're an early bird this morning Mandy. I wondered where you were yesterday but thought yu must be busy with the children.
Mandy I am going to put the hogs on BIG paper clips to make bookmarks. They do kook sweet in the Ferrero Rocher box don't they? They all ave different personalities when you look at them closely. I have left one without something can you tell which one it is?

I was told by Em that the deer have eaten the plums off the tree in the front field before they are ripe and they have stripped her plum tree bare. Hers is a bit younger than ours which has been there for 20 years at least. They have eaten lots of plants and things in the garden next to Em's which used to belong to oh. They have eaten all my day lily buds before the flowers were even open but this morning I see I have a handfull of flowers on them on the end so there must be something in front they don't like. Never before have they eaten my big white daisy's but this year I tied them up so the ones in the front would be shorter and they were begining to look good then I went shopping one day and noticed they have al been eaten in the front in a dead line.

This morning there is a squirrel up under the fig tree at the top of the garden. I suppose its raiding a store it made last year unless its eating the figs off the tree.

O the joys of having a lot of wildlife in your garden. :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Jul 2018 10:18

Frank you were first on the list bothtimes I sent the real hogs eting out of the bowl and the pom pom hogs. I have sent the reall ones again by forwarding Liz's to you.

Frank

Frank Report 2 Jul 2018 11:07

Thanks Mel, I hadn't received any of the hogs.

Theres a nice breeze blowing at the moment, so I think I will sit in the sun for a little while.

Ros is all showered and dressed. Fed and watered (as they say) and is going to TK Max to find a shirt for Simon's birthday. I expect she will have a nose around, and find something for herself.

I am doing minted lamb steaks again tonight. They were so delicious last week. We have some english new potato's, podded peas, baby carrots, and I will no doubt find other veg in the fridge.

I will contact the "GREYHOUND" to see how the chef is after his accident yesterday.

Afternoon all

Sunny here again today and very hot, I noticed at 4.30 there were a lot of clouds around and thought we might have a break from all this heat but when I got up properly at 9am all the clouds had gone. Sandra and I have been watching the four little birds again, they are so cute. One of them looks very bossy and keeps pecking the others, he also seems to like to peck at the top of my screening....the cheeky devil ;-)

Sorry to hear you've been unwell Anne, hope you are feel better today. I know what you mean about this heat, it can make you feel awful sometimes and it's very hard to sleep. I close my bedroom curtains during the day and put the fan on in my bedroom which seems to be helping, then when the sun goes around the back I open the window and curtains to let the cooler air in. Maybe you could do the same, if your bedroom is cooler at night you might sleep better.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RICHARD for yesterday, shame he didn't like the film, but apart from that I hope he had a good day. Pity Paul couldn't make it to Sunday lunch, at least, like you said, he can have a lay in today. Pleased to see the heat isn't effecting Ruby, it's such a worry for animals with all this heat around.

How is Thomas today Jane, hope it was just the heat and nothing serious. Yes I was thinking of buying some bottled water, it's better to be safe than sorry. I didn't realise the water was brown until I run a bath, you can't tell with using a small amount of water for dishes, but a big bath full showed it up. It was like grit on the bottom of the bath and it took me ages to clean it away. I might try running another bath later to see how it is today, hopefully it'll be better. It's happened before on a few occasions and soon goes clear again after a while, so hopefully that'll be the case today. We are boiling water before drinking it for now.

Love the pom pom hogs Mel, are you selling them at the Christmas fair you were talking of going to? I couldn't see the one that was missing something. What's it missing????
It sounds like you don't have many flowers left with all the wildlife eating it all. Maybe if you can work out the plant the deer doesn't like you can put a row of them in front of all your plants to keep the deer away.

Hope the chef is okay Frank, that must of been quite some burn if he needed to go to hospital. Handy you finding another place to go to in the end and enjoyed your meal with Ros. Lots of places are being built on now Frank, I remember Ellesmere Port having lots of lovely fields but they are all housing estates now. I used to play in the fields as a child, but if I was to try and walk around that area now, I'd be lost.

Sorry you didn't have a good nights sleep Mandy. I was awake at 4.30 but sat in front of the fan in the living room for a while before going back to bed. I did toss and turn for a bit but then dropped off and slept till 9am. Hope you have a better nights sleep tonight. Like I said I've been closing my bedroom curtains during the day which seems to help, maybe you could do the same to keep some of the heat out.

Going to get something to eat now, then watch a film with Sandra I recorded in the week. OH is at his mates all day today so it'll be nice to spend some mother daughter time with Sandra.

We were up at 6am his morning!! Lucky we did as M and L rang and both were on the phone for over an hour, which took a great chunk out of our morning! It was lovely hearing from them both though! :-D
I hope pics for you Mel and the email for you Frank, have arrived? They've both gone through this end so should be with you!
OH has just got back from Waitrose with a Quiche for our lunch, so best get on!

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 2 Jul 2018 13:39

Mel is the odd one out the little grey one ? It doesn't look like he has a bead on his nose ?

No i did not wet the bed cheeky Frank :-D as i said i tossed and turned but when i did wake a felt wide awake it usually takes me a while to wake up.

Liz i think a nice Quiche is just right for this hot weather ,we've just had a nice plate of salad .

Gill your brown water doesn't sound good ,have they been doing any work on the water pipes in the road , i would give the water board a ring and tell them as perhaps there's a leak some where and your getting the dirty water , your doing the best thing by boiling your water first.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Jul 2018 16:01

No its not the grey one Mandy and he has a bead nose.

I'll take another pic of the hogs as I have just had a look at the one I sent and you can't see it ion there.

Think I may make a quiche for tonight as I don't know what else to get for dinner.
