Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jul 2018 12:55

Then what do I do with the chickens and bantams? I could'nt leave them as they need feeding and watering every day and there is nobody who could do it for me now.

Oh has been working out the front of the bungalow in the shade this morning. I think he is going to make a wooden cover for the water pipes that keep freezing up inthe winter before painting the bottom of the bungalow.

I forgot about your chickens and bantam's Mel, do you have a friend who could look after them overnight for you? It would be a shame to miss out on seeing your cousin. How long is she in the UK for, maybe she could come and see you instead.

I remember my friend coming over from Australia and she travelled up and down the UK, showing her husband all the UK sites. We met up when she was near my area. I hadn't seen her for 25 years so it was lovely to catch up and meet her husband, she came over with her brother too who I hadn't seen for ages, so it was nice to see him again to.

She'd been trying for a baby for years and in the end was told she couldn't have children but when she went back to Australia she found out she'd got pregnant while she was in the UK. She was over the moon as you can imagine.
There must of been something in the water over here LOL :-D :-D ;-)

Hi Anne, have a great time away, see you when you come home.

Afternoon all,

<3 <3 <3 Happy Birthday Jane <3 <3 <3

Hope you have a lovely lunch ,you've had some nice pressies the jewellery box sounds just the ticket to take with you when you go away .

Probably to late now but yesterday there was a funeral in the church near us and i could see most of the men had their jackets off because of the heat Frank.

Little bit of cloud about today but it's still so muggy ,i noticed we have those little midges about so the corn must be beginning to ripen.

Have a lovely time away Anne ,hope the weather keeps nice for you .

What a disappointment that must of been Jane, at least you can eat with James now so not all bad. Yes, I saw the saying on the card and thought of you with your wine, it brought a smile to my face. I found it just after your birthday last year so I kept it for your birthday this year.

We've had lots of little midges in our garden Mandy. When I was out doing the garden yesterday I got lots of bites. I said to Sandra and OH I feel like a dot to dot book , with all the red marks they've left LOL.

I wish is was cloudy here Mandy, OH will NOT STOP digging the front garden and he's getting hot, he's going to regret it if he's not careful and all the digging won't help his sore elbow either. He's got a bandage on his arm but I can't see that helping as the ground is like concrete and he's using a heavy metal bar to break it up so he can dig it out.......MEN you just can't tell them can you?

I wouldn't mind but OH has been pestering me all day to take some meds as I've been shivering for the last few days and can't seem to get warm, he said my head is burning up. It felt a bit warm to me but I don't feel ill, so to be a good girl I've just taken something, at least he won't worry now. I just wish he'd listen to me and come in, but there's no chance of that, he'll come in when he's ran out of bags to fill, which hopefully won't be to much longer. He said he had a good nights sleep last night, so that's probably why he's got so much energy today.

Jane Report 6 Jul 2018 14:59

I think Chris is more disappointed than me really. He thought he was taking me out for a nice lunch. The Pizza was good :-D Looking forward now to the Chinese :-D

Gill OH needs to stop digging. It sounds like he is really going for it !! But it is too hot and he might well regret it later.

What a pity Mel that you can't get to Chelmsford to meet up with your cousin. How long is she over for? Maybe she could make the trip down to Devon and visit you.It seems a shame no to have a meet together.
It is too hot for me to sit out longer than just a few minutes. This heat is getting crazy now and no sign of rain for a long time :-S
I was saying to Chris just now that this is the kind of weather I remember from Chldhood having my Birthday Parties in the garden.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jul 2018 15:16

My cousin is 82 so I don't think she will want to travel 375 miles down here. Shame I don't still live on the Essex Suffolk borders and then I could manage it as it would have been a doddle then just up the road. I hav'nt seen Hilary since I was her bridesmaid at the age of 9.

We were sitting just starting our lunch when I spied someone through the back door!! It was Susannah from the big house looking for one of her old beagles that had run off. Its name is Gamefair. Can you imagine she walked up our garden into the top overgrowon garden calling out Gamefair, Gamefair. I think she has lost her marbles since the death of her daughter poor Susannah and she's sooooooo thin. Nobody usually comes round from the back as it all woods which they own so she must have climbed over the fence.

Forgot to say glad you liked your pressie Jane and the ticket I made and gave the same one to Ann.

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 Jul 2018 16:27

Guess what????? OH has finally stopped digging to Australia lol. I think it's because he's ran out of bags to fill. He's just had a nice long soak in the bath and is finally sitting down.

Oh I see Mel, at 82 nearly a 400 mile journey in this heat wouldn't be a good idea. Maybe you could invite her down to Devon in the future. I did smile when you told us the name of the Beagle, did Susannah find him/her in the end?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jul 2018 16:45

Don't know if she found him or not. I have been sorting bulbs in the shed and sweeping down cobwebs and came in cos I was hot and we are just going to have a drink now.

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 Jul 2018 19:07

I hope he's found soon, it's very hot outside if he's lost without any water.

Jane

Jane Report 6 Jul 2018 19:40

Chinese ordered and waiting now for it to arrive . I am starving!!! It should be here in about 20 minutes
James is glued to the footie Belgium and Brazil. 2 nil to Belgium already !!

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 Jul 2018 20:48

Did you see the fella Jane who was fouled and was on the floor then the football came towards him and hit him on the head......talk about unlucky. I must admit it gave me a giggle when he grabbed his head as if he was in a lot of pain, the way they play at being hurt you just don't know if they are or not do you? The commentator said it shouldn't of hurt with all the hair he had, I think that's what made me laugh.
Enjoy your Chinese and what's left of your birthday.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jul 2018 21:36

Hope you enjoyed your chinese meal Jane. A nice thing to round off a lovely day.

The little stag has been in the garden eating the day lillies again and then has a rest under the fig tree. He then went back to the day lillies and oh clapped his hands out of the window to shoo him off. He trotted across the garden and out of the archway.

My leaf cutter bees have been busy again today. One keeps going in different holes but can't seem to make its mind up whether to choose one or not.

I'll send some pics.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jul 2018 22:12

It won't send at the moment but I think the bees went.

Gillx

Gillx Report 7 Jul 2018 07:55

Morning all

Love the pics of the bees Mel, they seem quite at home there.

I've just seen the little squirrel come over the fence and then he went in all my pots of bulbs, so I've asked OH to get the covers I made last year out of the shed so I can cover them all up, or I'll have nothing left and no flowers next spring. I noticed one or two bulbs had been dug up when I was tidying the pots up the other day, but didn't realise it was the squirrel. I put some nuts on the grass for him, but he's so nervous he ran off. Maybe he'll spot them later if the birds don't get to them first.

Ancestry have all their UK records open until 10th July including the 1939 register if anyone is interested. I'm going to take a look to see what I can find.

F1 and the England match to watch later.......I can't wait.

OH and Sandra have just gone down the tip with the rubbish from yesterday, no doubt OH will do some more digging when he gets back, but with the sport line up for today hopefully he won't be digging for as long as yesterday.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 7 Jul 2018 09:38

Very hot here today, so we're taking it easy!!
Gill, I would emphatically echo Jane's words, in persuading your OH not to do any more digging until the weather cools off and the ground considerably softer!!! He could make himself seriously ill (particularly as he's had a brush with HBP,) which surely as he worked in care he must be aware of as the dangers of extremely hot weather would have been part of his training!
I must get that washing out, then do Cas's bathtub!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Jul 2018 10:16

Morning all,

Very hot here this morning too. Wall to wall blue sky at hte moment. I just wish we had a few clouds in the sky and a bit of a breeze like we had one day in the week. It was so much more workable in.

Gill it sounds to me like your oh is giving himself Tennis Elbow with all the digging he is doing. I think its time to give it a rest for now. If you mix some grit leaf mould and compost or potting soil and put that on top of the clay it will improve the soil so he won't have to dig it all up and throw it away. You can buy bags of horse manure quite cheaply and it all improves the soil. Shame you don't live near Liz and she could give you Merlins exhaust.
