Wow it has been hot, but we have had a nice cooling breeze all day. The fan is cooling th lounge, so it's not to hot indoors.

Ros got Simon a nice summer short sleeve shirt for his birthday Ralph Laraun (sp) So it aught to be, at the price she paid !!! She went on to Morrison's for a nose around, and came back with TWO bags of shopping(we didn't need anything). She has bought lots of salad bits, sea food. mainly for me. LOVELY. !!! Pizza for one lunchtime. Stir fry, joints, (I have a freezer full already) I keep telling her DON'T buy meats until I tell you. It's like talking to yourself !!!

Sally wants some yellow poppy seeds, so Ros has been harvesting quite a few around the beds. She has been in my lounger having a rest, which is a good thing. I have watched Brazil V Mexico. Brazil won 2-- 0.After dinner I will watch the other match, then do the watering. Ros has two and a half hours of soaps, so she will be HAPPY AS LARRY.

I trust you have all had a nice day, and I hope you have a very pleasant evening. I might pop in later to see you. xx

Afternoon Everyone
What a lot of posts today !!!
Mandy its not like you to have a bad night is it. It must have been the heat. It just is relentless and making us two a bit like zombies :-S Thomas is the same. He is fine but Ithink it was just the heat that was affecting him.He has slept all afternoon in the study and has just ventured out as far as under the patio table :-D.

Anne I hope it is just the heat with you too making you feel not so good and nothing more. It is getting to us all I think now.

It is Fitz's Birthday today .I believe he went out for lunch with his OH !!!Then tomorrow he is off to the coast in Dorset to stay with friends who have a place almost on the beach. He said he is definitely going to go in the sea.I would love to see that :-D.Then he will be off to stay with someone else in Barnstaple for a couple of nights.
We will be going for lunch at the Samuel Pepys in Slipton on friday for my Birthday. It has recently reopened so we thought we would check it out.

I'm glad you had a good meal yesterday Frank after missing out on your first choice of place.Hope the Chef is ok. That is going to cause a problem for their business though isn't it !!

Tomorrow I am having my eyebrows and lashes tinted !. Although I might decide against my lashes as my eyes are so irritated at the moment with all the pollen. I have never had this done before.

We will be looking after our neighbours garden from Thursday for 5 days. There is quite a lot of watering to be done plus topping up the fish pond as it has a leak !!Hopefully it wont be a daily job.
On Sunday we are going to London and having lunch at the pub where the wedding reception will be in December. I think Hannah wants us to see it :-DI think James will be coming too which will be nice as it will be a family birthday meal too. Jess wont be able to come though as her Mum is taking her cat to Jess that day to Cat Sit for a week.Jess has just moved yesterday into a new place in Canterbury. It is a one bed basement flat, but she does have use of the shared garden so Benjy has somewhere to have a run around.I hope that there will be no fisty cuffs with Cats and Dog while Jess is at Uni during the daytimes !! :-D

Southern Fried Chicken ,Parmentier Potatoes and Asparagus,Petit Pois and French Beans for us all tonight.
Minted Lamb Steaks sound lovely Frank.

Gillx Report 2 Jul 2018 19:10

We've just had Southern Fried Chicken for our dinner Jane. I'm in the process of running down my freezer and forgot I had some over in there. Pleased to see Thomas is okay is he eating and drinking properly now as you said he wasn't before. You're right this heat is getting to everyone at the moment. I was just saying to OH we could do with a break from it for a bit. I don't mind the sun, but the heat it another thing all together.

Is it the yellow hog on the right Mel? it doesn't have a mouth.

I written this earlier and forgot to post it......silly me

Jane Report 2 Jul 2018 19:26

Frank, if Ros bought that Ralf Lauren Shirt in TKMax it will still be a bargain even though still quite expensive. I hope you have enough space in your freezer and fridge for all the stuff she bought at Morrisons :-D :-D
It is pleasantly cool outside now with the nice breeze. It is actually really breezy. I might go into Hannahs bed tonight as her room is cooler .The on;y problem I have is that the bed is so blooming hot .I think it is the topper on top of the mattress that makes it so hot. But to get a nice breeze coming through the big open window in her room might be worth it :-D

I can't believe Ihave been watching the Football .Good result for Brazil . Now it is Japan and Belgium (SP? ).I did watch the Tennis earlier too.

We are not that hungry yet so I will dish James's first. He is always hungry when he gets in. Eastenders is not on unti after 9 tonight ! I hope I am still awake for it .It is the only Soap I watch.

Yes it's the yellow one Mel i can see it has no mouth poor thing :-D

Jane i like KFC son gave me a nice recipe for a coating for chicken pieces and it's nice ,you have to soak the chicken pieces in Butter Milk and then toss them in the coating ,it is flour , Smoked Paprika ,Onion granules ,Garlic salt , Oregano and baking powder ,i lightly fried them and then finished them off in the oven , there's a nice BBQ Sauce to go with it too.

Up early again this morning!! All our outside jobs are done before it gets too hot !
We've got our first hospital appointment today! It's a seminar and chat with the radiotherapy staff to make sure that we are aware of what the treatment will entail and to ask about anything that might be worrying us. You don't have to go but we both want to as we will then be clear about what lies ahead for us! I'm going to keep a diary from today till the end of the sessions, as I think it could be helpful and interesting in years to come.
Nothing else happening here, just the usual chores so best get on.

Good morning Liz, and all,

I see we have another FOOTBALL PUNDIT. !!Lady Jane Rose, now that's got to be a first. :-0 :-0 :-0 I sat and watched both matches, the 2nd one at the bottom of the lounge with the le turned round from the conservatory. The sun didn't get on th screen, so much better. Poor Japan going out at the last 10 seconds of the match.

I then went out and did all the watering. That took best part of 45 minutes. I then jumped in the shower, had a pink GIN and Tonic curtesey of Ros. (she bought som tins from Morrison's) Then off to bed. Still awake t 1,00 am then again at 3.00. I finally got up at 6.45. What a nice time of day. Still cool outside. Opened doors and windows and sat at the patio table with my COT.Ros was up early 8.00 am. !!!

I must look in my junk mail for your emails Mel, as nothing is coming through the usual way. !!

What a good idea keeping a diary for Ian's treatment, as you say it will be something to look back on.

Hows your "GRAVEL BOTTOM" Gill. I can just imagine sitting in a bath with gravel in the water ;-) ;-) ;-) Not very comfortable. lol lol

Jane I use to go to the Samuel Pepys back in the 60s. Their T bone steaks were something different yum, yum. Hope you enjoy it. How old is Fitz today. ?? I imagine him to be quite old, small and bearded. ;-) ;-) ;-) What a surprise for him going out with his OH. that's unusual isn't it ?? It will be a nice, having all the family at a lunch on Sunday for your birthday. Are you TWENTY ONE AND A HALF. ?? That's what Ros always said when anyone asked her age lol lol.

No plans for today, other than ring th Dr. to see if they have the results from my X ray. Ros is having her nails done at 5.00 pm today. Close by where she goes is a F & C shop, so I said call in and get some, it will save me cooking and it won't get in the way of the ENGLAND mach. I might even b lucky enough to get to the pub where there will be a bit of atmosphere.

I hope you all have a pleasant day, and don't stay in the sun all day (Excep Liz) who I know loves it. !!!

Morning all,

I could'nt get on here last night. After I posted about send ing another Picture I just got a screen saying they could'nt find the server. It went on all night and the first try this morning brought up the same thing so I tried going into something else first and then this site and bingo here I am.

I thought Ros was not supposed to carry anything heavy for 6 weeks Frank. I hope she got somone to carry it to the car for her two bags of shopping can weigh quite a bit.

Oh is out painting the bottom of the bungalow before it get too hot as he is on the south facing side, The back.

Me I,m going shopping early to get back incase it gets too hot today. Only thing is its lovely and cool in Morrisons I may not want to come home............... I should do Lidl today too but Ican't be bothered. I have my car insurance to do too so another expensive month.

Yes you were all quite right it was the pale yellow one I forgot to sew a mouth on!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Jul 2018 11:55

Silly oh is out the back of the bungalow again this morning giving it a second coat of weathershield then he will do the bottom bit in the green. He needs to be on the west side as thats inthe shade.

I am just having some toast and then I am off shopping.

I have watered the plants and filled both bird baths but I must open the little tom house up or they will cook in there when the sun gets round. I have one ripe tom on the sungold plant.

Frank Report 3 Jul 2018 13:22

Whatever I say seems to go over Ros's head. She feels that she can do anything and everything. Provided she doesn't overdo things, and rests when she needs too, there's not much I can do, or say. She is very sensible, and knows her limitations. Well I hope so.

We have decided to do a nice salad for this evening. Then, if I want to I can have mine, and go to the pub. Ros can eat when she gets back from having her feet done, or when she feels like it. That was it won't interfere with our arrangements. Now that she is driving, I can ring her to collect me when the match finishes.

I have been sitting in the shade readng this morning. In fact, it's even hot sitting in the shade. !!!

We still have a nice breeze in the garden, and the little birds are singing their heads off. I don't know what birds they are, but their songs are beautiful, and so relaxing.

I've just come in for a drink and listen to the lunchtime news. I wonder if the fires are under control now on the moors around Manchester. I see last night that Firemen from all over the Country has been called upon to help get it under control.

I bet Mel is hanging around the cold meat and frozen foods departments in Morrison's keeping cool. I bet her car will be hot, on the drive home.

Has Ian given up on work for today Liz. ?? I bet Cas is lying in her crate trying to keep cool. Bless. xxx

I hope Gill and OH are working to hard in this weather, I know she has a lot to do in the front garden, but I am sure that can wait.

Frank Report 3 Jul 2018 13:29

Frank, OH has had a hospital appointment this morning!! He will do a bit to the boarding this evening, but we're waiting for some materials to be delivered on Monday before he can really crack on. The creosoting of the bottom of our bungalow is finished now, and looks really good! I think our woodburner will get attention this week, and the electrics on the tow bar will be finished.
I'm off to the garden now to get some sun!

Afternoon All
Liz,I hope you both found the seminar today interesting and that yougot all the information you needed for the up coming treatment.

Did you get the results from your XRay Frank? Yes I am quite getting into this football lark LOL Not that I understand much.I see Sweden won today, and now it is our turn again shortly.

Those poor young boys and their coach trapped down in that cave in Thailand.I hope they can find a way of rescuing them rather than them having to stay down there for months. They say that most can't swim. I just can't imagine how frightened they must be.It is just so sad :-(. They are alive and getting some food which is something .Just a dreadful situation.

We have ready meals tonight and James is out .So simple :-D

Frank Fitz is now 71. He doesn't look it,has a close cut beard and is about 5'10".. So you got the beard right :-D :-D

I had my eyebrows tinted this morning but not the eyelashes. It was decided to leave the lashes as I have hayfever eyes and do a lot of rubbing .I will wait until later in the year now to have them done. Chris said he couldn't see any difference in my eyebrows :-S. But I only had them done slightly darker so can forgive him :-)I will see if Hannah notices on Sunday. I bet Ros is glad to be able to get her nails done again now she has had the op .
I went to Dunelm to collect a ceiling lamp shade for Hannah and while I was there I got my self one of those long handled brush and pans.It is much better the the ancient one I have that used to belong to my Aunty Betty. That is well past it so will be going in the recycling bin.
I see it is still going to be around 25/6 degs again tomorrow. Hannah thinks it may be even hotter on Sunday when we go to London :-S. The Pub has no aircon either :-( What on earth I am going to wear. I would like to wear one of the Linen dresses I bought last year at Next but my legs are soooooo white compared to my arms. They look ridiculous .
Oh Gawd..just seen the forecast and Sunday could be over 30 degs :-0 :-0.There is no way I will be getting on the underground so it will be taxi from St Pancras to Hannahs.

I think it is time for a nice chilled glass of wine now and a sit out for a bit until the match starts.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Jul 2018 21:40

Yes Frank it was lovely and cool in Morrisons today but the sky clouded over on the way there and we have had a good strong breeze today. I parked the car under the trees at the front of the carpark but it was a bit of a walk to get to the shop and worse on the way back with a loaded trolly. Glad you found the emails. You will need to mark me as NOT spam.

Jane can't you get some of that self tanning stuff for your legs? I have a cheap one of those dustpans with the long handle and a brush that clips on the handle. It was only £2 but it is a bit short. I did'nt know if I woud use it so wanted to try a cheap one first but find I use it a lot. Saves getting the hoover out al the time in the kitchen or the bathroom. The bathroom is the only hard floor we have. The kitchen has that Flotex carpet.

Oh has finished the second coat on the back of the bungalow and is doing the bottom now but thinks its going to want a second coat. Its not the black thats showing through but the bits he has filled in with filler. They were white but seem to have gone a bit of a lilac colour!!!!!!!

I have just given the two cleatis on the arch seat thing a drink as the white one is wilting. I think it may have a vole hole down by its roots.

Must go and shut the big girls in and feed the hogs and close the tom plants up.

Jane

Jane Report 3 Jul 2018 21:41

I think our freezer might be playing up again :-S :-S. The red light is on .I did put food in to freeze today but the red light should not be on now. So I have had to ditch stuff from the small freezer so I could save all the new meats bought .All that is left in the big freeezer now is a bag of ice cubes and ice-cream. So if they are defrosted in the morning I will have to get someone out.
Now I have just had to dispose of a blooming Rat that Thomas brought back.I just went out to whistle for him but he was on the patio lying right next to his kill !!!. It was still warm :-S So what with the freezer and now the Rat I haven't watched much of the match. Chris has gone in a right grump with the freezer trouble. He hasn't been in the best mood today anyway. Just a grumpy day. We all get them :-D

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Jul 2018 09:10

Morning all

Sunny again today but not so warm, which pleased OH as he's still digging all the roots and old soil out of the borders in the front garden. He did well yesterday and also took out some plants we didn't want. I gave them to the neighbours so they're happy. I also managed to get a big plant out of a pot as it was dying, to find that there were lead pipes and bits of lead metal in the bottom of the pot, no wonder it wasn't surviving. I'd cut it down thinking it was going in the bin but luckily left a little bit of green on it, so when I noticed what the problem was I re-potted it into another pot and gave it a drink, I'm not sure if it will come back but it was worth a try. It was a Rhododendron that OH got from his mum's after his dad passed away. He got two very big ones, the other one is fine but this one just went brown and didn't look very healthy. Hopefully now it'll grow again and be a healthy plant after all.

Well, what a match England played last night. I had intended on posing on here while OH watched the match but I got into it and was so excited, more so than OH, which made him smile. Sandra said "I thought you weren't into the football", but our match was great how could I not be into it? ;-)

I bet they'll be a few sore heads today with everyone celebrating. I didn't like Columbia being so horrible though, talk about rough and tumble with them. I bet the ref was fed up of blowing his whistle and giving out yellow cards. They did seem to calm down a bit in the second half and remembered they were there to play football, not to fight. You should of seen me when it went to penalties, to be honest I thought we'd lose at that point, so I was very pleased to see we ended up winning. Can't wait for the next match now ;-) ;-) ;-) Saturday is going to be great, what with the England match and the British F1, just my type of day.

Did you make it to the pub Frank? I bet the atmosphere was electric. It must of been great.

How is your freezer today Jane? I've managed to run mine down now ready to de-frost it, All I have left in there is a few ice-creams, so I will be able to defrost it tomorrow, then comes the fun of filling it back up again.
Yuk, a rat, but I suppose it was a present off Thomas, cats do that don't they as their way of thanking you for being nice to them....I could think of better presents though.

That's a good idea to keep a diary Liz, like you said it will be something to look back on in the future. How did the seminar go?

I see your OH is still working hard Mel. He should go around the bungalow in the direction of the shade. Although South facing is a bit difficult to avoid the sun. Maybe he could do that bit in the evening when it's a bit cooler, or like OH does and do the work in the mornings, it's definitely cooler then. Has he got much more to do?

I had the horrible job of cleaning our garden waste wheelie bin yesterday. OH had put some grass cuttings in a bag in there and you should of smelt it, it was awful. It took me a while to get it smelling fresh again. Needless to say the rubbish was taken to the tip on the first load.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 4 Jul 2018 09:50

The seminar went brilliantly. It's a pilot scheme that's been introduced by our hospital for everyone about to receive radiotherapy. It was completely informal, hosted by the two radiographers who will be giving the treatment. There was a short video and then questions and answers together with leaflets, nothing was too much trouble and so much kindness, really excellent, let's hope they adopt it as a permanent feature. After this we sorted out our parking concession, it's a £1 a day throughout the treatment, so not too bad!!
There is a new Cancer centre being built which apparently when finished will be one of the best centres in the country. The person funding this is James Dyson! My goodness how lucky is that? What a fantastic chap, a real philanthropist! It's a pity more very wealthy business people aren't more public spirited! He's also funding a college near us for budding engineers! You can guess what make of vac I have!!!
A bit cloudy here today but not so windy! OH has gone off to get some batteries for his hearing aids!!! The joys of old age!!
