Good Morning to all you lovely people xxx
My it is a hot one again. The funeral went off perfectly. I couldn't believe my eyes, when we arrived at the Crem. There were people in SHORTS and OPEN NECKED SHIRTS one had TRAINERS on. I went in black slacks, white shirt and black tie. I decided a jacket would be just too warm. Ros went in a very nice long black dress and looked lovely The sermon was excellent. The chap who did it had taken so much trouble going back on the history of GEORGE. Even to the point of how many days he had worked for the same shoe makers. George was married 61 years, and his wife died three weeks before her 99th birthday
Jo arrived around 7.00 pm last night. She had been stuck in traffic a few times with it being a Friday. She had been on the road SIX HOURS.
The new puppy is so full of beans, he and JJ are inseparable, where one goes the other follows. We don't think Jo has sent enough food for the little one, so Ros is going the Pet shop to buy some more. The poor little thing is so constpated, he left THREE little BULLITS under my Computer chair for me during the night They were waiting to be lt out when I got up at 7.00 this morning. They are both flat out on the cold tiles in row kitchen.
I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to be working outside in the heat unless they had too. That includes your OH Gill. lol lol I am sat in my armchair in front of the fan with my book. I doubt I will be moving very far either. Ros will bring lunch in when she comes home from shopping. As for walking to the pub for the football, I am not sure, I can watch it at home in the coolness of the lounge, We will see. Th chances are Ros will offer to take and bring me back.
We were going to have Steak, Mushrooms, onions and chips and salad last night, but with what we had at the wake and the heat, we didn't bother , so we will have that tonight instead of a TAKEAWAY.
That BEE hotel looks just the job Mel, I have one down the bottom of the garden, but it's not been used yet.
What a pity about your lunch Jane, It's not nice something like that happening, when you were so looking forward to it, I can understand Chris's dissapointment.I would have been also. But you have SUNDAY to look forward too, so ENJOY THAT
I am not sure if I mentioned, I enquired how the chef was after his accident and the Manager replied to me, and for the inconvenience we had last Sunday he is sending us a £20.00 voucher, that we can use before October. That was so nice of him.
I agree Mel, It is a long way to travel to met someone you haven't seen for over 50 years. I think I would be the same.
I expect Anne is well on her way to the cottage, I do hope she has a nice time.
I must go a get a bottle of water from the fridge, I am parched.

I've managed to persuade OH to finish soon, so I'm going to run him a cool bath in half an hour that'll give him a bit of time to put everything away. He is having regular breaks and sitting in the shade, so he doesn't get to hot. It's not so hot here today but when you're digging it feels much hotter. I agree he should know better but what can I do, other than tie him down and I can't see him letting me do that LOL. At least he's agreed to stop, well, I say agreed, it's probably because the F1 starts soon and then it's the England match, so that's what has probably persuaded him, rather than what I've said.
The ground is far to bad Mel to dig anything into or even lay on top, it hasn't been touched in over 10 years and with all this hot weather even putting water on it isn't making any difference to how hard the ground is. I did mention to him what you said but he said he'd have to dig anyway to mix it all together so he might as well carry on and then put some good soil down. He is digging to about 2 foot deep, I'm just glad there is only two borders to do and not all four as there are plants I want to keep in the other two. I think it's tennis elbow too.
I couldn't believe what you said about the way some people were dressed at the funeral Frank, at least you looked smart and didn't need to worry about not wearing a jacket. It sounded like a lovely funeral, if that's the right word. So you have two dogs to look after now, I bet you're in your element, I know how much you love JJ and of course the little one now. At least they have each other for company so you're not running around trying to keep just one occupied. Yes, what happened to the chef, you didn't say in you last post. That was nice for them to give you the voucher, it'll come in handy next time you want a meal out.

Afternoon Everybody Are we all melting??? I can't believe the heat today. It's too much for me.I have just dug out 2 more fans that I forgot we had so there is a lot of whirring going on :-D I am glad the funeral went of well yesterday Frank. Was it the younger ones in shorts ? People seem to wear anything these days.A long black dress on Ros would have looked really nice and cool too. OH will deserve a good rest this afternoon Gill after all that digging and that cool bath will have done him good.He can just chill out and watch the TV.
Frank,I forgot the name of the puppy.Good that the both get along well.Ah! little bullets left for you LOL. He needs to be drinking plenty of water in this heat .Maybe he is a little dehydrated after that long journey .Hope Ros manages to get the right food for him .How old is he now?
Mel you are lucky to have the Bees in the House already. Thanks for the pics. We have a Bee Hotel but I don't think it has been used at all.Maybe it is in the wrong place. We watered the neighbours garden this morning and noticed hat the fishpond water had gone down quite a bit since yesterday so Chris stayed on to top it up withthe hosepipe. It took him about 45 minutes. I think my next door neighbours are away as there are no cars there and when I was up at 3 to let Thomas out I noticed a light on (probably on a timer). But now I have just noticed that the small window in the bedroom at the front have been left open :-SLets hope they aren't burgled. When I was at Tesco this morning I saw so many little children wearing England T Shirts :-D.One little boy was getting so excited about the match today.I hope he isn't going to be disappointed. Wicksteed Park didn't look too busy.I thought they might have had a big screen for the footie that would have brought people in.I think though for many it is just too hot to be outside for any length of time. James is going to a friends to watch the match .I think there will be a gang of them .His friend Skipper has a Pizza Oven in the garden so I reckon Pizzas will be on the menu :-D He can fend for himself tonight if he wants food . Chris and I are going to have Fish and Chips. Tesco Finest Beer Battered Cod which is so good and McCains Gastro Chips. Our own garden Peas and some green beans. No cooking tomorrow. It will be a Roast Dinner at the Pub in London . My washing has finished so I am just going to bung it in the dryer It is just our sheets and pillow cases.I don't want them covered in Pollen if I hang them out.

Gosh I would'nt want to use the dryer in this heat!! but I suppose it is right for you with there being a lot of pollen about.I don't know what it is but my sense of smell seems to be getting much more sensative over the last few days. I can smell the washing up liquid well after oh has done it in the morning and if I walk past the strawberries I can smell those very strongly and the mowers petrol got me last night when I walked past that.
Oh should enjoy the F1 today as it is quite exciting. I loved the old cars going around the track and it was nice to see Murrey again. He did look well. I loved his comentating years ago.
poor little puppy doing marbles under your chair. Is he fed dried food?

We're sitting out side! OH in the shade, while I'm in and out of the sun!! I'm a good colour as they say, particularly my legs as they get the sun more! Thank you for the pics Mel. We have these bees going in and out of one particular staddle stone, they're fascinating to watch! Hard boiled egg salad for us tonight and tomorrow roast beef! Maybe casual dress was by request Frank. I know when my cousin died he had requested that people didn't wear black or sombre clothes, but instead wore their usual everyday get up and whatever colours they wanted. Tbh I think I shall request the same! Glad the puppy has settled! When Cas was constipated, we gave her a small amount of codliver oil with her dinner which did the trick. Mind you we did have to do it by weight! One of the pet sites on line can help with that! I'm back into the sun for 10mins!

OH has just finished watching Silverstone! I'm outside reading!! Our tumble dryer is in the big barn, but I hardly the ever use it even in the winter! Our leccy bill is high enough without that adding to it!! No football or tennis in this house!! At one time we wouldn't have missed the tennis! particularly when we played it a lot, but these days, too much money, same old people year after year, matches that go on for ever making it, imo, predictable and a tad boring! Back to my book!

ENGERLND, ENEGERLAND, ENGERLAND. !!! Well done the lads, I enjoyed it with a few bottles of BECKS, from the FRIDGE. Even Ros was watching bits of it. !!!
Little "LENNY" has been so warm. He was lying against the side of the fridge freezer with his back against the side, with his legs wide open. Ros took a photo and sent it on to Conrad for Jo to see. I do feel sorry for the both, they lie on the kitchen floor, which being tiled must be cool to their bodies. It looks like LENNY has had a pee on the mat in the bathroom, little Bu@@er.
I really don't know what happened to the CHEF, other than, it must have been bad to go to hospital. I will enquire when I next go for a meal.
The people in shorts were my sort of age, but looked quite scruffy, and some unshaven, with hair that looked like a good wash wouldn't do it any harm. :-( :-( :-( I am afraid I was bought up to show more respect for the DEAD than that. !!! Likewise we always stood on the curb when a funeral procession went by, and also touched our collar when an Ambulace went by. Why we did that I don't know.
Martine rang his morning and thanked us for going. The food that was over (and there was a lot) was taken to the local Rugby Club, where a childs Birthday party was taking place. knowing children, I don't expect much was left. lol lol.
I have yet to start cooking our tea/dinner, I am too hot, to even think about food. No doubt I will start around 7.30/8.00 pm. I just hope we can eat it. !!!
Will watch the start of the football, and follow it from time to time, to see who we will play in the SEMI-FINAL. Come on ENGLAND.

OH fell asleep through the F1 so I ended up watching it on my own, I'm pleased Lewis has pole position, couple that with England winning I've not had a bad day.
The first words I saw when I came on to post before was Liz's post saying her OH had just watched Silverstone, I tried my best not to read anything else incase someone had mentioned who was on pole. I've read them now and realised no one had mentioned about Lewis Hamilton. You should of seen me I put my hand up in front of the screen to stop me reading anymore and then tried to type with my other hand, it was quite funny to watch.
OH fell asleep again when I put the F1 on again, so I woke him up nearer the end so he could see the last few minutes. I thought he'd been over doing things lately so sleeping twice I hope has done him some good. Sandra fell asleep too, so it's been a quiet afternoon for me. I've been going through OH's tree and found a few mistakes which I've put right, thanks to Ancestry having their records open. They weren't big mistakes just the wrong surname for a couple of wife's as they had been married before and had their first married name on the marriage records rather than their maiden names. Knowing their correct maiden names has helped me find their children so I'm on a bit of a roll now ;-)
How is little Lenny Frank, hope his tummy isn't hurting with him having trouble? Maybe some water will help. I do feel sorry for animals in this weather, at least they both have your cold kitchen floor to lie on which must be lovely for them.
I thought it would be to hot for the tumble dryer too Jane, until you told us it's in the garage. Good idea to use it though as you do suffer from pollen, so wouldn't want any on the bedding.

Afternoon all
It's very hot here today, after having a few cooler days. I tried to help OH in the front garden but could only manage a couple of hours, I got so hot that I run myself a cold bath and lay in it....boy did it feel good. OH was at the tip so I run another cool bath ready for him when he got home. We're having Sunday lunch early today so we can settle down and watch the F1 race. It's far to hot to do anything in the garden today.
I'd like to see the card pleased Mel.
So the children have been having fun in the pool, making a whirl pool Mandy, that's sounds like so much fun. I don't blame you for having a dip later if it's as hot by you as it is here.
I haven't looked at the front garden for a few days so when I saw all OH's hard work I had such a shock, it looks like he's digging down to Australia, far to deep for the new plants, so I suggested going half way down, which he agreed with, that way we can drag some of the soil from the rest of the border into the massive hole he's dug and top the whole lot up with some fresh top soil, we'll still have about a foot of good stuff for the new plants.
I met the new neighbours today, OH and I have said hello in passing to Mike but today I met his wife Jen, they are a lovely couple but have had problems with the builder, he has walked out on them leaving big holes in the ceilings. He made the holes to see where the RSJ's were. Why he didn't just take the floorboards up from upstairs and look down is beyond me. Luckily one of OH's friend is quite handy so we've passed their number onto him. Hopefully he'll be able to help them with all their jobs. They want to knock the wall out between the dining room and kitchen to make it open plan. They are a lovely young couple and this is their first house.
We have other friends who are plasterers and plumbers so we'll pass on their numbers to them, hopefully they'll have all the work done soon. Mike came around last night to ask OH for help putting up his BBQ they were following the instructions but just couldn't get the screws to go in properly. OH had it built for them in less than an hour, he did have to take some of it apart and start again, but they were chuffed with it. It looks like they've used it already.
Well, I'd better go and dish up lunch, so we will be settled when the race actually starts, they do a lot of chatting before hand so we should be cleared away in time.
Have a great time in London Jane, hope it's not to hot for you all.

Evening all, or is it still afternoon ??? lol,
My it's been like a furnace here today.Up to let the dogs out 7.00 am I fed them and made my tea. All doors and windows open to try to get a breeze , NO LUCK. left Ros to sleep in. Tony bought the paper, so I sat and read that and had more tea.
I was in the lounger in the shade when Ros got up, at 9.30 Lenny was lying by my side on the cool grass. Regarding him being constipated, he has fresh water down all day, which I change at least three time. to make sure it's fresh and cold. Also his food is very moist so I would have thought that would help him.
Madam has been working in the front border this afternoon, while I tried to stay cool in doors.
Have just put he oven on to warm. Ros bought a LARGE piece of RUMP STEAK. which I will roast for a short time. Fresh veg and new pots, A LOT LATER we will eat.
No-one has been in touch today, so nothing to report. I hoe Jane and Chris. had a nice day, I bet they will be glad to get home and into something cool.
