We've been watching all the news on the boys. There's 8 out now so only 3boys and the coacch left to come out. They said that the water has dropped a bit which has made it easier.
I have been fiddling this afternoon. Not done much else as it is soooooooo hot here but I did open the front door to get the post and a lovely breeze was coming in so I left it open and we hav'nt had the fans on so much today because of the breeze but now I shall have to close the doors as I keep getting flies in here and its nearly time to eat. Cold pork loin peas and cornish new pots and I am not doing anything elase. Icecream afterwards.

Your poor freezer Jane it makes sense when you think about it all this heat and the heat from the dryer no wonder it keeps going off .
It's so good they are getting the boys out ,but so sad one diver has lost his life ,what a rescue though ,they deserve medals . It has turned a lot cooler here now the children only had a quick dip tonight ,they came out and soon demolished all the apple cake .

Much cooler this morning, but we still got up with the larks! Outside jobs all done and OH is tackling the roof! He wants to crack on and get the back finished asap, as the front could wait awhile! Also the baffle for the woodburner should be ready next week so we can then get that back together! It's all go! We have a very tame baby robin who has taken up residence! It came right up to my hand this morning it's a dear little soul! This is one time that I'm glad we haven't got a cat!! Better get on! Hope everyone enjoys their day whatever it brings!!! :-S

Good morning all,
Much cooler today thank goodness. We have grey skies and I think this is the only time I have been thankfull for them.
One of our Robin's is feeding four babies and one comes to the back door for worms the other three sit on the steps and when the parent takes the worms he feeds the other three babies under oh's mower. Its funny to watch because they can be right there on the patio step inthe shade of the fern but no they have to follow the parent to wherever it thinks its safe to feed them.
I now have 6 holes filled in with leaves on the bug hotel. It only cost me £3 in Morrisons and this year I bought Di one for her birthday amongst other things. I hope hers works as well as mine is. I have never had one before.
I was bitten by a horse fly on my thumb joint yesterday. I was talking to oh standing just in the porch outside the back door and felt a prickle on my hand and knocked the thing off which flew around me and then landed on the wall and I tried to swat it but did'nt suceed. Came in and took a pill. Its a bit swollen this morning but not too bad. I have had much much worse ones.

Late good morning to you all,
Much cooler here this morning, I was up with the lark again. Let the dogs out and opened up the doors and windows. Fed the dogs, made my tea and sat on the patio.
I see they have another child out of the tunnel, only one left and I assume the teacher. What a wonderful job th British Divers have done. They deserve to be decorated With the highest award that Country has to offer.
As it was cooler this morning I decided to clean the windows. All the bungalow windows are done, just the Conservatory to do.
I have to stop every now and again, to check that the "Es and Ts" are coming out. and fill them in, if they haven't. What a blo@@y performance. I can see I will have to invest in a new LAPTOP before to long.
Liz, I will be joining you soon. But I will be in the shade. lol lol/ Glad that Ian has all the materials he needs o get the job finished. How nice the Electricity Company is cutting the hedge back. I remember them coming to Gayton to ask if they could lop some branches off a tree hat was too close to the overhead wires.
Simon rang his morning to say he had to Cancel the work on his car, as they had been sent the wrong parts. We were going to give him their Anniversary card today for the 15th. We will have to post it now,
I see we are on 3,000 pages and still counting. GREAT.
I had a letter from the bank this morning, asking me to ring them. It was a SECURITY check on the use of my DEBIT CARD. It was quite complex , but shows thy do take FRAUD and MISSUSE of our cards very serious. I was very impressed with them.
Off to do more windows, will catch up later.

Frank can you come and do my windows please?
Done all the shopping and put it all away. While I was at the veg counters a young girl with her little boy in her arms was walking towards me and with that the little boy was sick and it went all over the mums feet and hands and she put the boy down and I said stay there I'll get help. I left my basket and rushed to the fish coulter and the man there gave me one of those big rolls of blue tissue. Ran back and unwound a load and past it to the mum to wipe herself down. Did that a few times but she seemed more worried about what was on the floor than the boy standing there looking very lost. He did'nt have much on him. The mum had those sandles on that go between your toes and her feet had been covered. I did feel sorry for her and it really was rather smelly. I left her then with two other Morrisons workers with her.

Afternoon Everyone
What dear little Robbies Mel :-D :-D.Hopefully you will get to see them all grow up :-)
What a spectacuar sight the Fly Past was !!!!!! . A perfect day too for it. It was a perfect day to for Janice and Larry as they have been up in a Helicopter !.Only Larry was supposed to go as it was with the Judges for the Britain in Bloom for Tewkesbury to get an ariel view over Larry's Nature Reserve and all the area. There must have been a spare seat. I was so shocked when I got a little video clip of Janice up there with her headphones onLOL . She looked very relaxed and not hanging on for grim death.
How wonderful that the Rescue of the boys from the cave has been a total success. I am assuming the coach was brought out safely too.Amazing work done by all that team.
What a relief it has been a lot cooler today. Just a reprieve before it hots up again for the weekend.
Dentist for me tomorrow morning :-|(just a check up ) . Chris will be over for the day and night and most of tomorrow as he is goign to that Patchings Art Fair again.I think it is Nottingham or Lincoln way.I never remember, and he has been several times now. I shall be watching the football all on my lonesome as James will be watching it at his friends again. He says if we get through to the final he will not be going to see Jess at the weekend . Not sure how she will feel about that ! :-) We have done the last watering and topping up of the fish pond at my neighbours today and thankfully all is looking good and well watered and no dead fish :-D :-D.
M&S had so many big fridges not working today so lots of empty rows. All to do with the heat. Just like my freezer.I bet they lost a lot more food tham me !!!. I only popped in there for a few bits and saw they had a clothes sale so had a look at that and came away with 2 tops. They are fine so no need to be taking them back like I usually do lol That must be a first :-D
Chris is having another soft meal tonight . James and I will have Chicken Breasts in a tray bake thing. I have just had to put the fan on as it seems to have suddenly warmed up as the sun has come out.

Evening all
Been in the garden all day, it was cloudy most of the day so we've managed to level the borders and OH has taken the rest of the tree down that we took half of off, it was started to grow new shoots, so I'm pleased it's gone now. Sandra helped her dad take the rubbish down the tip and now after our baths we're going to get something to heat and settle down for the evening.
It sounds like everyone is busy with one thing and another. I've just watched the weather and we're in for a couple of days rain the day after tomorrow, I can't wait and I'm hoping it will freshen the air a bit, I'm still having problems sleeping.
Happy birthday to Conrad for yesterday Frank, it was my mum's birthday yesterday too.
Well, I'd better go and dish up. I don't think I'll be doing anything in the garden tomorrow as it's more digging on the rest of the border. OH isn't going down so far so hopefully it'll be done soon, although the ground is like concrete. OH said he might have a day off tomorrow but after looking at the weather he might change his mind and have a go at the digging tomorrow, then he can take the next two days off while it rains. I suppose he'll make his mind up tomorrow what he wants to do.

Ooh Gill you are lucky to be getting a bit of rain. Even if it is just a little bit. Things are desperate here and no sign of any rain for at the very least another week :-S At least if you do get your rain it will make OH have a break from digging.
Mel ,I hope it didn't make you gag (the sick). Poor Mum and her little boy. I bet she will be throwing her sandals out now LOL . At least you were on hand to help :-D

Morning all,
We have a cloudy sky again this morning and its much cooler. I hope it stays like it today to give us a break from the very hot stuff.
Oh is out painting the front bottom green bit and its looking much better than the black. Why is he always right? It softens it and snuggles it into the ground rather than maing it look like it is up in the air if you know what I mean.
There's no surgery in Shebbear anymore since the doc retired. They (the medical group) have been trying to have the use of the surgery but the doc who owns it is not allowing it so I have to go all the way into Holsworthy for our scripts. It was two miles to the village and now its nine miles to Holsworthy.

Another glorious day here with hardly a breath of wind! We ordered some new scaffolding yesterday, and it arrived at just after 10 this morning!! How's that for service!! It's much lighter, taller and easier to assemble than the one we bought years ago, so we're well chuffed. It'll be really useful long term for those tall slightly dangerous jobs! M is coming next week, and he's having the old one so he's chuffed too. The little robin is helping!!! Today I'm going to pressure wash the veranda, and read my book! Tomorrow we must go shopping and on the week goes!! :-)

I'm seeing a bit better now, so thought I would pop back in.
I am pleased to report that there isn't any "CANCER" cells behind my left eye. I do have high blood pressure and must get the NURSE to check on it regularly. I will be going back to hospital in 6/8 weeks for them to keep an "EYE" on me. (no pun intended) lol.
That was excellent service with the scaffolding Liz. As you say it will last for ever, and your old one will do your son a good turn.
It was a lot cooler first thing this morning but has got hot again now. I had a very funny turn last night. I went to bed as usual around 10.30 pm Listened to the radio till 11.00 pm. THEN I had this fear come over m, that I was frightened to go to sleep. I laid awake till 2.00am then got up, sat and read until 4.45 I did drop off finally, and slept until 8.30. I don't want that to occur to often.
Ros went into Morrison's after the hospital to get a few bits and more food for the dogs, they had very little choice for "PUPPY FOOD" so she bought a few packets of what they had. I hope ir see us through till he weekend, or Ros will have to go to Tesco to get more. JO just didn't bring enough food for them. We are not over feeding them either.
I'm off to the lounger now, in the shade and I might try to get forty winks.
Lamb shanks, various veg for tonight Ros prepare it today as my eyes ar not great. They are getting a little easier, so should be O.K. for the match tonight. COME ON ENGLAND !!!!!

It turned sunny here earlier but now it has clouded over again.
Last night I shut the chickens in and came in and oh said there was a chicken out earlier on and did I count them. I said no but they would'nt come out for their corn this evening. They all stayed in the house as if they were frightened of something. I went back around and counted them and there were only 6 instead of 7. Came back and told oh the fox must have had one and thats why they did'nt come out of the house.
When I went to feed the hogs I walked around the little wood and back through the garden thinking I may see some sign of feathers or her. Returned to the chicken house incase I had miscounted and no 6 in there. I was just coming in when I thought I could hear a soft clucking and it was'nt comeing from the chicken house. I walked all the way up the garden and peered through the arch into the centre garden and listened again..........nothing. Picked up the rabbit trap and headed back to the house. Two thirds down the road I saw her flash past into the back field!! Dropped the trap and ran to the back field, phew. there she was running back and forth from the run to the garden and back again so I called to her and she came to the fence. Called again and she walked straight in when I opened the gate and started eating the corn that had been left by the others!!I opened the pop hole and she went in. By this time it was getting quite dark so you can see how long she had been out as it was really light hwen I shut the others in. I was so relieved she had'nt been taken by the fox afterall they are part of our family.
I have hoovered up all the cobwebs in the kitchen and the leggy spiders too. The dirty things have been eating moths, we get a lot of those in here, and had left their wings in a pile on the floor. They have all gone up the hoover now but how long will it be before the next generation arrive to take their place? Not long I bet.
Oh has painted the front bit under the kitchen and diner and the little loo this morning and has had lunch and is waiting for it to really dry before giving it a second coat.
I am going to wash up all the hog bowls and clean the sink and then I am going to pot up a couple of bunny rabbit seedlings I have found growoing in the gravel.

Oh! that is good news Frank! :-D. Tbh had there been THAT sort of problem, speaking from experience they let you know very quickly! So no news is nearly always good news! I'm sure your BP will be kept an eye (!!) on, it may mean pills eventually, but that's no big deal!!! OH is cracking on really well and is up to the back door! The frame is so light that the two of us can easily lift it along the path instead of having to dismantle and re do it all the time which now makes it a doddle!! The back should be done in a few days, the front may have to wait till the autumn after our marathon hospital treatment and holiday! Glad you found the hen Mel, it's always a worry when creatures go missing.

Afternoon Everyone
Great news about your eyes Frank :-D. That will be a worry off your mind now. My pressures are always just borderline now hense the yearly check.
Your new scaffolding will make ife a lot easier now Liz especially not having to have ot dismantle it each time it needs to be moved along. That really was quick service too :-D
Thank goodness you found your loose girl Mel.That would have been horrible if the Fox had got her.
My Dental check this moring was all good. I got 98/100 so was very pleased with that. XRays done so fingers crossed nothing will show up there.
Chris is now up at Nottingham and has booked into a Best Western for tonight before the Atr Fair tomorrow. He rang to say he had arrived and was sitting on hte terrace with a Guinness :-D Thankfully this place is so peaceful and not like the place he stayed last year when his room was right on the High St and he hardly got any sleep . Federa has won his match after a gruelling 4 hours or something!!. Now Football shortly. Everyone is so hyped up for this match ,I just hope they aren't going to lose.
