Frank Report 9 Aug 2018 15:28

I had to break off as the screen was sliding about. That's all I need.

Spag. Bol for tonight, Martine has asked if I would like to make her another Lasagne (sp) I might have enough sauce from the Spag. Bol. If I do, she will have o make the white sauce and cook it. (I get all the good jobs)

Roa said that yesterday Tesco had sold out of FLY SPRAY. I don't wonder a it. I have been using loads lately.

Naughty boy, I haven't eaten today. So I am going to have a COT and a piece of cake.

Frank, that's what my kindle does if you're not careful! which is why I have to check my posts before sending them as I hate putting them out badly spelt and dodgy grammar! I think all IPads have a mind of their own if you're not careful, OH 's certainly does and I've heard other people say the same! It's a blessed nuisance that's for sure!
Nice peaceful day here! The garden is sort of under control, the veg and fruit doing well, and the sweet corn is absolutely delicious. It's done really well this year as it loved the hot weather!! Pork in tomato sauce, rice, and runners for supper, nice and easy!! OH has just finished stringing the onions! they're now hanging in the garage/wood shed, garlic bulbs are small, but look ok, so they've been stored as well! :-) All in all a good day!

Jane Report 9 Aug 2018 18:02

Afternoon Everyone

I am always having to put right spellings. The main one I do wrong is the word to .I always seem to type ot :-S
Crumbs Gill I can't believe how busy you have been .That was a great bargain gettting the brand new bed for just £50. Happy 33rd Anniversary Gill. I dont remember the date of our first date.

Frank ,you have been busy too with doing all your turf. It poured with rain here late morning I went to try and get Moth Repellent but Dunelm had sold out and Asda had none. :-S . I keep seeing so many small moths in the house which is a bit of a worry. So fly spray was sold out too Frank !!. We have had a right good hoover through today and sucked up so many spiders webs AGAIN. No doubt there will still be plenty hanging about.

Larry is bringing Janice tomorrow afternoon. He will stay for dinner and then drive back to Tewkesbury. Janice wont drive here on here own. She never has. But saying that they just have the one car now . She will stay until Monday afternoon when Larry will pick her up. They will go in the afternoon as Larry has a meeting in the evening and Janice has her pre op assessment on Tuesday morning.

Frank, Thomas is a bit of a pain with his wanting out at unsociable hours but I am so used ot it now I dont really mind as I usually manage to go straight back to sleep (as long as I don't decide ot have a little read. Last night he was in by about 8 and I let him out at 4.15. Gill it is Monday he has the Vets. My favourite Vet has left
:-( He was Greek and so lovely, but completely crazy LOL (in a nice way) He was wonderful with Thomas when he did his hip in.

Have you seen the news about the Catholic Boarding Schools re abuse. Fitz and his Brother went to one of those !.
I am loving this cooler weather and just having the 1 shower a day instead of 2 or even 3 !!.

Your BP is a little high Frank, but the bottom number is fine. Maybe it just went up a bit as you were having that horrible injection.
Just going to watch the news now.

Bunnyboo Report 9 Aug 2018 18:31

Yes Jane, The two brothers of my best friend at school, went to Downside!! It was in the early/mid 1960's. Eeek!!!
I'm the same these days over driving! I was fine when I was at work and drove all over the place, but the last few years I do stick to my comfort zone!! The farthest I'd venture would be Wantage (50 miles) and I know the way like the back of my hand !! Mind you, we've got Garmin these days which makes life a lot easier! Wish I'd had that year's ago when I was at work!! It was around but not in general use when I left work in 2009!
Supper's ready!!

Evening all,

Much cooler here today and we have rain ,it started mid morning and it's a nice steady rain so it should do the gardens some good .

Happy 33rd Anniversary Gill did you get round to making a cake ?
You got a bargain with the new bed .

Frank was it a dishy nurse that sent your BP up :-D did she do it again as they do that at our doctors and usually it settles a bit on the second go.
How is Ros's jaw today ? did the dressing stay on ?
We've had a lot of those little flies today ,they are those annoying little blighters that settle on you and you brush them away and they keep coming back .

I got the last of my ironing pile done today ,i kept putting it off in the hot weather but today it's been just comfortable standing doing it.

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 Aug 2018 18:55

I hope you don't have any bother getting Thomas to the vets Jane and he doesn't go walk about at the wrong time for you. Have a great weekend with you sister.

It nice when the ironing pile has gone isn't it Mandy. I used to leave it far to long and it would take me ages to get through it all, not anymore though.

Hope your BP comes down soon Frank, I know how worried I was about OH's a while back. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about for you though, otherwise the nurse would of said something.

Well, I've finally finished the room, OH was really pleased with it as he thought he'd have the job of collecting the bed and putting it up. I can't believe how big the room looks now. I had lots of things in there that needed to go up in the loft and you could hardly seen the floor or any of the tops of the chest of draws, now it's all cleared and looks much better. OH and Sandra took the old mattress to the tip along with the rest of the rubbish from yesterday and now we're going to go to the chippy as none of us feel like cooking.

Thanks everyone for your Anniversary wishes. No I didn't have time in the end to bake the cake and now I have no energy left, so I'll make one another day. I didn't get around to changing the beds either, so that'll be done in the morning.

OH brought six flags home his mate let him have, we had five of our own left and because we didn't have any grass left over from cutting it into a circle he's going to use the flags to finish off the area he flagged the other day. I've come up with an idea of using the base of the old bed to make the planters, we'll only use the wood at the bottom that has the wheels on then use some wood we have to build it up. So all in all a good day all round. We do like to recycle where possible and it'll save us some money to make the extra planters for the secret garden area.

Well, I'm off to make OH and I a well earned cuppa and Sandra a drink of juice. Then it'll be off to the chippy and settle down for the evening, before we start all over again tomorrow. I'll be glad when everything is finished so we can have a day off. ;-)

You are getting on well Gill all nice and tidy now and you have the new bed.

We had some short sharp showers today which will do the gras good but it has'nt made any difference to the rest of the garden beds.

Nice easy dinner tonight as I cooked the ham while I played this afternoon and just did mustard mash and peas with it then afterwards we had apple and plum pie and ice cream.

I did another toadstool this afternoon a bit of a different shape, in mauve and lilac.

Oh scarified the lawn outside the kitchen window today and then did half the west lawn but had to come in as he had extremly bad cramp in his left hand. You should have seen it it looked like it had been tied up tight with all his fingers in a bunch amd a big crease up the fat bit up to his little finger. I gave him a big drink of tonic water and sent him to his study to play on the pc.

Morning all,

We have grey skies and fine rain and I think its been like it most of the night becasue the garden looks wet and the road is wet but not running with water.

O would you believe it the sun has just come out and we have some blue sky and white clouds and theres me thinking we were in for a nice cool day of rain......

Well as I did'nt go for the scripts yesterday guess where I have to go today? Yes Holsworthy 10 miles there and ten miles back instead of 2 miles to the village and 2 miles back.

Anything exciting happening at your ends? What have you got to do today?

Hope Ian is still getting on ok with his treatment. Sending love and wishes. <3

Morning Mel, morning all

Sunny here today, we were going to do a bit more in the gardens but OH has to go out and the flags are a bit heavy for me to do, so they'll have to wait for now. Luckily we can't see the area that needs doing so it's no bother leaving it for now. I think I might start stripping the material off the old bed bases ready for OH to take it apart to make the planter bases and also wire in some plastic I've put on the trellis's my mum gave me years ago, we are going to use them at the back of the planters for the climbing plants to grow up. So quite an easy day today. Oh and I need to change the bedding, I couldn't do it yesterday with everything on the bed.

How come you have to travel 10 miles instead of 2 now for your scrips Mel? have I missed a post about it? We have rain forecast for the weekend and maybe the odd drop sometime today. OH has just watered the front lawn so if it doesn't rain it doesn't matter. The rest of the pots and plants are watered every evening so will be done later.

Going to get a cuppa, then make a start on today's jobs.

Gillx Report 10 Aug 2018 10:26

Typical, I've just put the bedding in the washing machine and it's gone cloudy and looks like rain, I'll have to use the dryer now :-( It's very cold here today too. Never mind the dryer will soon warm the place up a bit.

Sandra wants me to record a film for her so we'll have to watch some programmes off the planner as I'm running out of space......hard life isn't it??? LOL :-D :-D :-D
She's tried recording it on her system but it keeps deleting it for some reason and she likes her films.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Aug 2018 10:38

We've had aother heavy shower and its windy out there and now the suns out again. Think we are in for this for the rest of the day.

Gill our doctor in the village retired and the surgery was right next to the village shop. He could'nt come to an agreement with Holsworthy medical centre to rent the property and they can't find another place in the village suitable for a surgery. He also owned the one in Hatherleigh and they may get that one back but thats still quite a haul about the same as Holsworthy. I don't think we are going to get our local surgery back as 200 people from the village have signed up with a doctor in Black Torrington which a only a couple of miles but oh says no don't go there.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Aug 2018 10:46

Good morning Mel and Gill, and of course good morning to all you others,

We had a heavy rain full last night, and it's just started to rain again.

Roa says her mouth is still sore, but she will live with it. As all the dentist will do is put another dressing on it. Regarding my BP the nurse took it THREE TIMES. in between each one she made me sit and take slow deep breaths.

Gill, with the amount of stuff you are putting in your loft, mind you don't have the joists breaking nd having your ceilings cave in. lol lol. Like me everything you want to keep, goes in the loft. The boys are going to have a job and a half, if and when they have to clear it.

I have rung the surgery this morning, to ask if I can go to the hospital on my tight knee. It's started to play up and lets me down, when I least expect it. I don't want it to give out when I am walking alone. The doctor has to put it on ICE (whatever that is) and the receptionist will ring me when he has done it. I will then get Ros to take me for an X RAY, then get my hair cut (It's been over three months) yen onto a pub meal. I will save me cooking tonight.

This blooming machine is still putting words in my text, when I haven't typed it. Frustrating to what !!!!

Ros had such a lovely lad to help her at B & Q this week, that I have left a glowing report about him. He's only a young chap with problems with his speech. But he went out of his way to be polite and helpful. CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mel, have you seen the advert on Tele, where you can get your scripts delivered to your door through the post. I would save you having to travel to get them. I hop your OH is getting over that horrible cramp. It's a pain that seems to linger on and on.

I hope you don't get "JAW LOCK" with all the talking you and Janice will be doing Jane. lol lol. I bet Chris will be locked away in the study :-0 :-0 :-0

It looks like the sun won't be shining here today, the rain looks settled in for some time. So only the greenhouse to do tonight.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Aug 2018 11:45

Oh I see Mel, still 10 miles is quite a distance to go, can you have it delivered, I think the NHS provide a service like that, although I don't know much about it. Maybe you could ask when you pick your scrips up.

I only put a couple of light weight boxes in the loft Frank, we had a good sort out so there's not as much in there as we've had in the past. So far the ceilings are still where they should be LOL. Sorry to hear about Ros, I hope the pain eases soon. How nice of the lad at B&Q to help her, it's nice to know there are still a few gentlemen around. Good on you for leaving a glowing report. I'm the same if someone is helpful, I like to let their manager know. Just noticed what you said about the scrips for Mel, I thought there was a service like that, I must of heard it on the TV with there being an ad about it. Hope the doctor can help you with your knee Frank, it must be a worry not knowing if it's going to hold out or not and like you said you wouldn't want it to go on you when you're on your own.

It's pouring with rain here, so the bedding is in the dryer. I've just cooked a mince dish for dinner tonight and now I'm going to bake the cake I didn't do yesterday. It's lovely and warm in here now with the cooker and dryer on. I had the fire on earlier it was that cold. Such a difference from how hot it's been lately.

I still need to watch a few programmes with Sandra to clear the space on the planner but that'll have to wait for a while, her film isn't on until Monday so plenty of time yet.

Right, cake baking time. Sandra's help is eating it ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Aug 2018 11:58

If Sandra wants to eat it she should give you help cooking it!!

We have had more heavy rain and then sun again . Its been like that all morning.

Frank I had to laugh at those things you sent.

II have sent some pics of the pheasent family but first of all it would'nt send them so I did it again and then it sent the both!! Gremlins in my pc too Frank. :-|

Frank

Frank Report 10 Aug 2018 12:10

I just remembered I had a horrible dream last night. I was sitting in the garden and was attached by a swarm of wasps. All I had to protect myself was my stick. What a job trying to swat them. I woke in a cold sweat.

So Cake for tea tonight in your house Gill. I can't rumba the last time made a cake. !!

I am still waiting for the doctors to ring me so I rang them. Th same old excuse. The doctor has only just finished surgery. You can't tell me she couldn't have spoken to him in the last two hours.

I have had to put the tel light on, It's so dark in the lounge, and it's still raining. it is heavier now than it was earlier. Roa just called out that on Tele there ar people dying to gt across a flooded road, I don't know where that was, but someone is getting floods.

I am getting quite annoyed, I am waiting hr all dressed and ready to go, and still no PHONE CALL.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Aug 2018 14:42

Whats this about you doing the rumba Frank?

I have just sent a pic of oh's wasp trap and its contents.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Aug 2018 14:43

Going for the scripts now.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Aug 2018 15:46

It's not a RUM cake Frank LOL :-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-)
Yes, we'll be having cake later, well.......Sandra and I have already had two pieces each. I made two Victoria Sponges, so there's plenty left.

This is the first sit down I've had all day. Sandra and I were going to watch a few programmes but Mr Grumpy has started drilling and banging. I think his shelves fell down the other week so he's probably fixing those, hope it doesn't take him to long. Sandra is not impressed and said "Why can't he go out?" she can be funny sometimes. I had to remind her that we've had our washing machine on all day and the spin isn't exactly quiet at 1600 she just said "SO".
I think she'd like to live in a detached house so she can't hear the neighbours......bless her.

Have you heard from the doctors yet Frank? That was a weird dream you had, I don't like wasps, I think they sting for the sake of it. Bee's on the other hand I could watch all day. When I was trimming a plant the other week it didn't seem to bother them, the plant was covered in Bees and they just went on their merry way and didn't seem to noticed I was there.

I think Mr Grumpy is trying to drill his way into our living room. I must admit it is
loud, but jobs need doing don't they?

I tried to watch a video of people trying to cross the road somewhere in London using chairs as there was a flood right across the road, but my laptop made a funny noise and crashed so I didn't see the end. Is that what you were talking about Frank? I did notice that there is a storm on the way "Storm Debby" I think it was called. I don't know when it's going to happen as like I said my laptop crashed, but I assume it's going to be soon, probably over the weekend.

Love the photo's Mel, apart from the wasps one, that gave me the Heebie Jeebies.
Are you selling all the craft things you've made at the Christmas Fair? How much have you made now, you seem to be making quite a few things lately?

It's gone quiet next door now, so hopefully he's finished. Sandra want to watch some programmes, so I'd better go and put them on. Oh, spoke to soon, he's of again with his drilling.

The sun's come out here, typical now all the washing has been done. The last towel is in the dryer which I do anyway, so there's nothing to peg out. All the beds have been changed and the dinner is ready for tonight so I'm going to relax this afternoon, well, when Mr Grumpy stops drilling and banging that is.

Gillx Report 10 Aug 2018 17:12

Just found a brilliant TV channel called Now 80's and at the moment they are playing every number one of the 80's. It's been on since 9am. Wish I'd known, it's brilliant. It finishes at 8pm tonight....guess what we'll be watching until then?

I was looking for Sandra's channel to record her film, which Sky doesn't do and came across this channel, so Sandra and I are enjoying all the music I grew up with. I have lots of 80's CD's so Sandra knows most of the songs. We're having a great time. Does anyone remember "Final Countdown" by Europe? That's been on and is one of my favourite songs.

We can't hear next door's drilling now as I have the sound up on the TV. It's like a disco in here LOL. :-D :-D ;-) ;-)

Jane

Jane Report 10 Aug 2018 19:17

Evening All
I am not stopping now as Janice is here . Just wanted to say Hello for today and thanks Mel for your lovely pics. I can't believe that number of wasps !!!!!!

We had the most horrendous thunderstorm earlier. I spotted Thomas just as the thunder started and tried to get him in but there was the biggest clap of thunder happened and he was off !!! I was half way down the garden then when it was a cloud burst so I had to take cover in the plastic greenhouse for about 15 minutes. In the end once the rain eased off a bit I put the garden kneeler pad on my head and legged it back to the house. I was worried about Thomas being so scared but I have seen him just now so know he is ok.

I may not be around much tomorrow but will try and pop in :-D
