Thanks Marilyn, have added too.

Jean I am so happy for you, what a fighter.
1973 was the year I married my hubby so I know it has been such a long time for you.

Cath have a great holiday. George Cath lives in The Channel Islands(Geurnsey I think). Hence she usually gets better weather than us.

We had sudden showers through today. Luckily I missed them.
Did the gym. Then went and bought cakes for hubby's work mates for afternoon tea !!! Used to be a beer or "small one" but not now with all the security at the airport and of course drink driving too.

I had my friend here for a cuppa and chat..... but no cakes LOL

Have a celebratory evening everyone

Linda :-) <3

Have a safe journey and a wonderful time Cath.

Jean, that's brilliant news, I'm so pleased to hear it. I only came back on to see if you'd come back with good news.

George, it is the ball-valve that we have the problem with, it's been replaced loads of times but it just keeps going again and flooding the place. The plumber didn't turn up until about 7pm, he sorted it out for me but I've told him to replace the whole system inside the cistern. He's coming back on Friday to do it for me.

Marilyn, I'll go and have a look for that thread now.

Morning All !

Dark and a bit wet this morning :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Pauline......I think you need a Plumber in Residence.....you seem to have loads of 'wee' problems with your 'Water Works' ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

I feel a lot better now that I've done something constructive.....I laid a new timber floor in one of my sheds yesterday.Great ! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) Using the power saw was a bit hairy....but I've counted my fingers and I still have ten ROFL

Perhaps I'll tackle another job today, without overdoing it. Can't be bothered with doing nothing all the time. There are jobs to do in the garden to prepare for winter, that should be easy enough.

There hasn't been a lot of coverage on the news about it.......but so that it dosen't pass totally without a mention......It's 70 years since the SAS were founded. What we owe these chaps cannot be measured in words. They do the job and slip away again. Brave lads.

Jean......you will still be up there on Cloud 9
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Keep safe, keep well , keep smiling :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Morning All,

Pauline..
Thats one thing I hate to happen in the house water leeks !! it can ruin everything if left while one is away, so just as well its the toilet being used at least you are there.

Just reading about Tesco's vouchers being used on the self serve tills, it has been drawn to their attention that people have been using the same vouchers over & over again , normally the cashier takes them off from you but with no one there its an easy peezy .......someone has had them in big amounts !! police called in ...LOL

Cath have a wonderful holiday ......x

Agatha.

Barrette,Berrett, Barritt, Barrott. what are you looking for ? can we help ?

Its a little overcast here ,but very warm so I might spend some time in the garden today.

Jean I bet you slept well last night I did with my wine ...LOL

I don't think I saw Rita yesterday ....hope she's OK.

Morning all, it's a bit dull and damp here but it's supposed to get better later.

Jean, you must be walking on air today, must be such a weight off your shoulders after all these years of worry and pain. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Marilyn, I've always wondered why there was nobody to take the vouchers off people after they've used them.......... hmm, wonder how many people are worrying about it now it's been spotted.

Stephen, the plumber is at my house that often that I'm expecting to be on the guest list when his kids get married. Mind you, I'll have plenty of time to look for an outfit because they're all still at school.... :-D :-D

Nice to see you back Agatha. There's a Laura Barret in the 1901 who was born in Little Witchingham, Norfolk, she was living in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, at the time of the census. If you give us a bit more info we'll have a look around for you.

Is this her birth?

Name: Laura Barrett
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1885
Registration district: St Faith's
Inferred County: Norfolk
Volume: 4b
Page: 93

Bye Cath, enjoy yourself. :-) :-) :-)

George Report 27 Sep 2011 10:31

Morning everyone,
bit overcast today, but nice.

Pauline, replacing the ball valve is such a simple job and should be cheap as the cost of a new complete one is hardly anything, so don't get conned.

Marilyn, its no good just sitting in the garden, you have to get cracking and do some weeding :-D :-D :-D

Stephen, hope your eyes get better very soon, take care.

George :-) :-) :-)

This is all I know about my Great Grandmother Laura Barrett or Barratt.
she was born as Barrett in Norfolk St Faiths in 1885, there was a laura may Barrett born in St Faiths the following year, but my laura is the 1885 birth.
The next time I found her on the census was 1901 living in Littleport in the Isle of Ely as a Housemaid, It says she was born in Little Witchingham Norfolk. there is an Edith Barrett living in the same house also born in Little Witchingham Norfolk.
Four years later Laura marries Harry Fountain, and on the marriage certificate
her name is now spelt Laura Barratt, the marriage is registered in Huntingdon, which is not far from Littleport, but takes place in Ramsey Huntingdonshire.
Harry's family witness the marriage but it says her father was Frank Barratt, a Labourer, I think the small writing next to his name means he was deceased.
she continues to use Barratt instead of Barrett on her childrens birth certificates and also when she married James Goodburn my Great Grandad in 1919 North Witchford .
So who were her parents?
Does anyone need to see my tree.
