Bye Marilyn, have a great time. I'll send you any emails I get, just in case you get bored.

You can do as Mo said and send us all photos every day to make us feel we're there with you.

Shelly how did you get your suite so quickly? I ordered one nearly 20 weeks ago and it still isn't here yet. It has to come from America, but I could have pushed it here in a wheelbarrow quicker.

Shelly I got that message you got from GR - but only for about 3 seconds and then it went off.

I'm off to sort son out now but I'll have a look later to see if any of you are around.

Shelly,I hope you said Hi to my family gravestones in Manor Park.
Pauline we had to wait yonks for our suite as well,it had to come from somewhere like China.
We had to wait longer because we wanted,a two seater sofa, and two armchairs. Not what they now want to sell, and that is two two seaters suites.
Gone are the days when you could get a three piece suite,as a norm.
Did anyone warn the airport that Maz was on her way. I bet she got through customs o.k,but she wont on her way back. What with Shelly's chimes in her bag.
She will probably say she's a hippie, and the chimes are to do with her karma.

Hello Rita, welcome back, I take it you had a good holiday.

Now what were you doing to hurt your shoulder? You were supposed to be relaxing.

Did you do it while you were twisting your head round to see all the excitement that was going on around you?

Shelly, I wish I'd just ordered my suite from somewhere local, they've just been on the phone to say the ship's docked but it hasn't cleared customs yet. They don't know how long it'll take.

Mo, mine isn't the norm 2 two-seaters either, it's 2 three-seaters, 2 chairs and 2 footstools. Don't know how they find that difficult to do, it's not rocket science is it?

Rita Report 4 Mar 2010 15:28

well here I am again. we went to the Horse Guards Museum and the curator showed me the busby hats and he explained all about the uniforms and other things we spent three hours there. it was quiet a walk and my right knee has given me trouble since I did that walk. we also went to the Imperial war museum to take photos of the number 6 bus used during the first world war to take the soldiers to the Somme Ypes Antwerp and other war fields.it came from Willesden Bus garage near where we lived.
we w ent shopping in Oxford Street and Brent cross. then sheila had an email from Willesden and Brent archives they wanted 12 of Dads Books memories of his life to sell as the Willesden Family history society had told them about the book and they were advertising it in their magazine. so we took them to the Archives it is a small place I asked if I could view their large maps of Willesden in 1856 and the 1898 and 1912 our little cottage was there it was mostly farms and fields very few house and cottages we got talking and my sister was telling them how I had been evacuated and about my life story I was writting and they asked me about my school I told them St Marys in Pound Lane then to St Marys in Church Road the junior school then onto Dudden Hills Girls school.
when we were going to leave she handed me some papers it was photo's of all the schools I had gone to and all the data that went with it the Church schools were started to educate the poorer children in 1809 and my Girls school was built in 1897 as a boarding school I have photos of the classes and in the St Marys one is a photo of my sister she went onto St Marys Scared Heart Convent school.
They list some of the famous people who went to these school and among them is Jet Harris the Gitarist for Cliff Richard.
so you can guess how happy it made me to get all this.

so I am one happy little bunny getting this.

Rita that's brilliant, you've been really lucky to get all those photos and info of your schools.

I bet you were over the moon to find out the Brent archives wanted copies of your dad's book to sell. He would be so proud, hope he's looking down and saying 'thank you' to his girls. I told you that other people would be interested in those books didn't I?

My son in Law Steve is having a rough time of it he has been having loads of test gas injected into his body for tests they had to keep him in for two days . he starts chemo next tuesday for so many weeks then he has a major operation to remove this tumour which is a big one on his gullet then he goes back to Chemo. he attends The Royal Marsden Hospital The Brompton Hospital and another one I cannot recall its name.today he is at Brompton hospital. it costs t him
£42 for a taxi he was too ill to drive and too ill to travel by train my daughter said it is a nightmare the costs but she said he is getting top treastment.
but it is so sad. his little granchildren cannot understand what is going on he got lots of cuddles from Megan and Ryan last sunday.

Oooh goody our Rita is back. Thank goodness girls. Rita do you realise we had the search parties out looking for you,we were quite concerned as we had not heard from you.
Now we can understand why you were not in any hurry to get back. You were having such a brilliant time.
All the police you saw, searching those men, were part off our search party, and the people with the camera's were doing a crime watch type appeal for us. WE MISSED YOU LOVE.
It's so exciting to hear that dads writings are wanted by other people. And to get the photo's off the schools, well after asking for help on here,it's unbelievable that they just gave you the info you had been searching for.
It was all meant to be wasn't it.
Tut Tut Pauline, fancy thinking our Rita was being nosey on her bus ride.
My god how big is your living room Pauline. Two three seaters, two chairs
and two footstools. I would never get them in my room.

Rita, as long as your son-in-law gets top treatment - it will be money well spent to get him there by taxi.

He'll have a rough time for at least 6 months but hopefully they'll cure him. We'll all be rooting for him.

Mo, I would have twisted my neck to see what was going on 'cause I'm nosey.

It's a big room, we have the same size suite now and still got loads of room.

Rita

Rita Report 4 Mar 2010 21:07

well girls it is nice to be back on on line I will be going again in June to a histroical meeting for Willesden then . I am looking forward to that as long as my legs and shoulders are working OK.
Pauline the c ancer consultants have told Steve they can cure it with this operation and the chemo but they have told him anything can happen as it is a big tumour..
I am still ploughing though your threads while I have been away trying to see what has been going on.,
what I did find out while at the Guards Museum was during the war a fying bomb hit the chapel on 18th June and killed 121 worshippers including the chaplain
I mentioned the bear skin hats I have always been upset about them and asked why they didnt use fabric instead. I told the curator I had two friends in the Royal Guards one was an officer friend Roy who died last year and the other Ronnie who was a bandsman,
He told me the hats are bear skin are purchased from Canada every year the have a culling of the bears and that is where ours come from. I felt better it wasnt done for the fur as the culling takes place anyway.

Pauline you must have a large room my son who lives in Camberley has a 34 foot long room and very wide and he has two x two seater settee's in it and two armchairs. I would love a large room my one when I lived in Ealing was 32 by 28 aN l loved that room
