Evening all

All this talk of Jigsaw puzzles I got four for Christmas. Three Christmas one's in a large box, each puzzle is a 1000 pieces and the box weigh's a ton, it's so heavy I've had to put it on top of my wardrobe till I can find somewhere strong enough to store it. The puzzles each have a Christmas theme containing animals, they're really cute.

I also got a 1500 piece jigsaw of San Francisco Bridge at sunset, the colours are lovely all pinks and purples. I'm looking forward to making that one, but I'm not sure if it will fit on my puzzle board.

I have a folding puzzle board, as I used to have cats and they loved to play with the puzzle pieces every time I put it away for the night. OH bought me a puzzle board one Christmas. I know it's big enough for a1000 piece puzzle but not sure if my 1500 piece puzzle will fit on it. I'll have to make the border and measure it.

So where you have brown's and green's Ann, I'm going to have pink's and purple's. ;-) ;-).

Your Jigsaw sounds good Jane, having a 100 years in time on the same Station. Who ever thought that one up didn't think about the poor person having to do it, but a good idea never the less. How many pieces is it.

Maybe you could have it framed once it's finished Jane. I've framed a few large puzzles in the past and they do make good pictures, I found it was easier to glue the picture to the frame that way nothing moved and stick it in line by line. I used to get the frames made to size because the size on the box is only a guide you don't really know the proper size until it's finished and most of the time it's not a standard frame size.

What a shame Mel you couldn't safe your Red Robin Tree, maybe you could buy a new one next year and plant it in a more sheltered spot.

The wool you bought Ann sounds really nice, maybe you could line the inside of the scarf if the sequins rub, no one would be any the wiser and it would save you having a sort neck.

I can't believe we still have snow on the grass, it was really pouring with rain earlier and even that didn't wash it all away, it's such a shame the snow is so wet. Poor Sandra never made her snowman in the end, but watching the wildlife eating the seeds and the squirrel burying some of them seemed to cheer her up, so it wasn't all bad for her.

Off to watch Holby now. I recorded it on the 23rd December, so need to watch it before the next one comes on
:-)

Evening all, Just popping in for a mo, as the lighting in the kitchen is very poor.

I went for my walk this morning, but it was SO COLD and the RAIN was coming down like STAIR RODS, so I didn't get too far, and was glad to get home in the warm.

I had a very funny turn at lunchtime, shivering and shaking, going hot and cold. Ros said I lost all the colour in my face. They gave me a Coke and lots of chocolates, then made me eat a meal. It only lasted an hour or so, but boy oh boy did I feel bad. !!!

Mark and Kerry went for a walk this afternoon, now she is having a lie down for a rest.

Conrad has taken Ella to the pier to play the machines. She came back the other day with loads of tiny dolls.

Jane I have always cooked in my top oven without any trouble when we have had a lot to dinner. The glass door shouldn't break at 80 degrees, I would certainly have words with the makers.

So sorry to hear about our Shirley, do hope she makes a full recovery soon and is back home, without any complications.

So glad you all enjoyed your games and jigsaws. They have been playing games, while I sat watching T,V.

See you in the morning, as I doubt I will get back tonight.

Jane Report 27 Dec 2014 20:14

Gill the puzzle is 1,000 pieces...I don't think I will be framing it somehow lol.It will go back in the box once it is finished and the no doubt simon the top of a wardrobe from the next umpteen years :-S
Frank my top oven is fine .I'm just a bit concerned about the lack of glass that slides down in-between the oven and the glass window
I hope you are over your little turn now and can have a nice relaxing evening and be back to your normal chirpy cheeky self :-D...Too much sea air and too much promenading LOL.

Dinner ready for us now.James and Jess have just left for the cinema...James hates the cinema but is just going as it is a film that Jess wants to see......I told him not to look like a grumpy old so and so .He looked like he was being dragged off to the gallows !!!!! :-D

Oh dear Frank hope you are feeling ok now, do you think your sugar levels dropped? keep a chocolate bar on you when you go out just in case. Look after yourself <3.

Gillx Report 27 Dec 2014 20:50

Sorry Jane just noticed your post, 1000 piece puzzle that'll keep you busy for a while, I'd like to see a photo of it when your finished.

Just thinking about your oven, could you not check the manual, or if you can't find it maybe have a look online, there maybe a help line you could ask someone for advice.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Dec 2014 23:43

Frank you just take it easy. Not so much walking about in our strange air down here.
I hope you are ok now.

Jane if it was the inner glass won't the heat just come out of the oven as the inner one is the one that sits on the rubber liner. If you just want to use it for warming just put the food in a covered dish and pop it under a very low grill.

My friend Di does jigsaws and her hubby, a carpenter makes the frames for them. She has loads on the walls in her house but I have never been there only been told. She likes these mystic ones.

Going to have a little relax now with a nice glass of port.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Heavy frost this morning and blue skies with plenty of sunshine.

Oh just gone off ringing. I had to start the car as it was completely white with frost, as he was getting ready to go.

Going to clean the chickens out and then wash my hair.

Gillx Report 28 Dec 2014 10:27

Morning

Very frosty and cold here today, the snow on the grass is still there and has frozen solid now and there's ice patches all over the patio.

How are you feeling today Frank, better I hope <3.

So I'm not the only one who frames Jigsaw puzzles then Mel. The one's your friend have sound nice. It's handy her OH can make the frames. None standard size frames can cost quite a lot to have made up.

Hope you manage to get your oven sorted today Jane, it must be a worry not knowing if you can use it for fear of the remaining glass breaking. It was a good idea Mel came up with. Hopefully it won't be long before it's fixed and you can get back to normal again. At least you can still use your main oven. :-D :-D.

No housework for me today, it's all done and the weather is to cold to go out. Sandra and I are going to stay indoors where it's warm and watch scrooge. It's the one with Albert Finney. Out of all the scrooge films, that's the one we like the most.

I tried watching Lewis Hamilton last night with OH, but I was online with our youngest daughter so missed most of it. I kept it on the planner, so I can watch it again. It looked interesting. Did you see it Mel?

Sandra is still asleep, so I'll go and watch it now before she wakes up

Morning all, evening Kim.

My first thoughts goes out to our Shirl. I hope she had a good night, and is comfortable in hospital. <3 <3 <3

Very bright sunny morning here. I was very lazy this morning. I was awake before dawn and laid there all tucked down under the duvet. When Ros got up I sat and read my book till 10.30. I went in for a shower and like an idiot, forgot to take my dressing gown off. That is now draped over the radiator drying.

We are all going to the garden centre later as there a some bits Jan wants to get. So I will do my walk round there.

I feel a lot better this morning ,thank you all for your kind wishes.

They say that if the snow hangs about, it means there is more to come. So Sandra might be lucky with her "Snowman"

Everybody seems to be having a very relaxing time over Christmas and the weekend. Thinking of those who are having to work. ;-) ;-)

Conrad did us a nice cooked breakfast this morning, more like a BRUNCH. Sausage, bacon, beans, mushrooms, toast and marmalade. Jan is going to put a massive Pork Joint in later for dinner this evening. All we seem to do is eat and drink and WALK.

Have a good day, and stay safe !!!

Gillx Report 28 Dec 2014 12:05

Hi All

I don't know Shirl, but can see that she is a dear friend of everyone's. Even though I don't know her I wish her a speedy recovery <3 <3.

Glad to hear you're feeling much better today. Yes a walk around the garden centre rather than a walk on your own might be the best thing to do today Frank. Very wise me thinks ;-) ;-).

We're having roast lamb today for a change, so looking forward to that a bit later.

I'll let Sandra know what you said Frank about snow hanging around. I've not heard that saying before, let's hope it right, Sandra will be so pleased if we get more snow and she can build her snowman. But not to much snow for those having to travel. When are you going home Frank, or have you not decided yet?

Just finished watching "Lewis Hamilton Duel of the Silver Arrows 2014". What a brilliant program, it covered Lewis and his team mate Nico through the whole of the season and how they battled each other until the last race where Lewis became the world champion. Can't wait for the new season F1 to start again.

Going to chat with my youngest daughter now, she waiting in for the repair man to fixed her boiler, it broke last night so now she has no hot water or central heating.

Back later ;-)

Frank

Frank Report 28 Dec 2014 13:54

Well, we were thinking of going home Monday, but Conrad ask us to stay till Tuesday. So it looks like we will be home mid afternoon Tuesday.

Jan's Sister and OH and daughter are visiting, so I am out in the kitchen, can't stand everybody shouting over one and other.

I don't know what's happening about the garden centre, so I might just put my coat on and do a small walk on my own. !!! Peace and quiet and a breath of fresh air. !!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Dec 2014 14:23

Afternoon all

Do be careful Frank on your walk, I'm the same I don't understand everyone talking over each other, how can you possibly have a conversation if no one is listening. Enjoy your walk. Hope the weather is ok for Ros driving on Tuesday and you both have a safe journey home.

Still chatting with my daughter online, the repair man has arrived so I'm just waiting to hear if the boiler can be fixed or weather she'll be without hot water and heating till the new year if a part needs to be ordered.

Apparently the fella who's there now is suppose to make it safe then someone else is going round tomorrow to fix it properly, but the fella who's there now is going to see if he can fix it for her because he doesn't want her to be in the cold for another night. That's nice of him, let's hope he can fix it for her, I suppose it depends on weather he has the part on the van.

Jane, before I go, just had a though about your top oven. Does it get warm when your bottom oven is on and if so is it hot enough to use to keep food warm. If that works it would save you worrying until the glass can be replaced. I often put food in my grill which is above my oven and it's lovely and warm in there when the oven's on, so it keeps the food warm. I've got my potatoes in there now keeping warm while the lamb is finishing off in the oven below. Just a thought but it might work. ;-) ;-).

Just heard another message come through from my daughter so better go and read it.

Hi everyone - just about to go up to the George Eliot hospital, Nuneaton. My daughter Mandy had to go to A & E yesterday morning suffering from terrible pain and swelling to the knee she had operated on a few months back. They kept her in and operated on her this morning as she had some kind of infection in it. I'll know more later, or perhaps after ward rounds in the morning.

Some Christmas for her, she is supposed to be enjoying it at her brothers as she lives out in the sticks as I've explained before. It's a good job she came this way where she has at least got a bit of support. Goodness knows what would have happened if she'd stayed home.

Hope you are all having a good time, I'll tell you more later.

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Dec 2014 16:01

Sorry to hear about your daughter Will. Did the infection occur from the operation, hopefully she'll be on the mend now. Sandra and I wish her a speedy recovery <3.

Such a shame she won't spend time with her brother, is he going to visit her in hospital. Like you said it's a good job she didn't stay at home and now has her family close by :-D :-D.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Dec 2014 16:33

O dear William thats the second one with an infection in the knee. Is'nt that what happened to Mandy's BIL last year?

I hope they can soon get ridf the infection for her as it must be very painfull. Love and wishes for her William.

Maureen Report 28 Dec 2014 16:34

Have been trying to catch up with all the threads posted over Christmas. Hello to Gill who has found the thread whilst I've been away. Think I'd better have a chat with Jane, she can give me the load down on all the news. What was that about Shirl. is she not well or is it another Shirley.

I've been at my eldest daughters since Christmas Eve only got back today, she wrapped up a great big chunk of her Christmas cake and since I've been sat at the computer I've eaten the whole lot, washed down with a couple of glasses of wine and have now eaten more than half the tray of Thorntons chocolates.
The healthy eating starts tomorrow ;-) Poor son and family have all had flu and some kind of tummy bug all over Christmas. They have just bought a house in Bedford and will be moving in the new year. He's now looking at houses for me, as my eldest daughter said, if anyone can persuade me to move it will be him, we will see, but if I do I'll be able to see more of Jane and Ann

Oh Mandy when I read that about the tablet I was nodding my head, Finley aged 4 has lost patience with me now but even Harry aged 3 knows more about it than I do.

Loved that pic on Facebook Fiona with the grandchildren mesmerised with Frozen, Chloe loves it too, and is about one inch away from the screen arms outstretched singing Let it Go. It was lovely to have the two little ones Christmas day, it was all a bit overwhelming for Chloe but Harry was "Oh Wow" with everything he opened.

I must stop eating these chocolates, I'm feeling quite bilious. Right one more then I'll put them away.

Will be looking in a lot more often now, make sure Frank is behaving himself ;-)

Just using my mob phone to post as we have no electric!!!neighbours went off at 12.15 but ours about an hour and half ago.it will be at least 6.30 before back on.Ar least we had dinner. Now just sat with the light from wood burner and lots of candles....plus a load of dirty dishes.Janice and and Larry have just gone so I think it might be a quiet snooze while we wait for electric
Will read today's posts later

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Dec 2014 18:12

You've not had much luck lately Jane, now your electric has gone off. What's caused that to happen, at least you have your wood burner so you won't be cold.

Hello Maureen. Yes I've not long joined the thread, everyone's been very welcoming and friendly. I feel like I've known them all for years.

Just finished watching scrooge Mel, not sure who you were talking about, was it Alastair Simm, he's the only other one I can think of at the moment. Did you watch the Lewis Hamilton program, The story of Barry Sheen is on tonight on BBC2 at 9.05 if you're interested. ;-) ;-)

Frank Report 28 Dec 2014 19:27

Evening all, Have tried SKYPING SHIRL's computer as it is showing she's on line. I know it's not her but thought one of the children were there. I have left a message, saying I am enquiring after her. So might get a call back !!!

Didn't get out for a walk today. My knee didn't feel up to it.

Ros and I started to watch "Out of Africa" it was on for three hours so missed a lot while having dinner. Might watch it when we get home, for the bits we missed.

I am just about at my wits end. Ella who is SEVEN is allowed to use her hands to eat all her food. MANNERS is something I have always instilled into my children. The adults allow it because she is a finiky eater. But why they let her get away with it I will never KNOW. I have to bite my tongue when I sit at the table with her.

Maureen, Don't forget me, if you move to Bedford. I might meet up with you lot one day !!!

Better go a sit in the lounge with everybody. I was in bed reading by 9.00 pm last night, and I don't think I will be any later tonight. !!!
