Jut taken down cards Mandy.I thin the tree will have t o come down tomorrow or Sunday at the latest.I might keep my lights and garland on the mantlepiece as I love that.

Oh Ann poor puss.I hope it doesn't have to have it's lampshade on too long.It must feel so uncomfortable and alien.Plus hope it's little tail heals well.
No I haven't seen On the Case..what channel and time is it please?

I have done more puzzle with big help from the magnifying glass. But I feel cross eyed and stiff now.I seem to have really got into it today.
I think one day and night will be plenty for the girls at the Ashram Ann LOL .They won't be too keen on slumming it :-S.I can't wait to hear about that experience.
I can't think where are staying next.I think it might be The Gateway Hotel .Varkala.
Just watching the Allotment Challenge and then I will be off to bed.

Yes rain in the morning Mandy. It is a bit lighter now in the evening. Not dark at 4 like it was a couple of weeks ago.I don't know if I am odd but I do like the dark evenings and being able to draw the curtains and have the fire going. All nice and snug and cosy :-D

No I didn't see a pic of Shirls snow.I had the message but no pic.I don't think there was one.

I hope I sleep better tonight than I did last night. Oh told me I kept waking myself up snoring but I think it was him woke himself up snoring.

My deccies will stay as long as I can have them...........I have been really pleased with my tree this year and the fairy still has a smile on her face. I have only dusted the hall but nothing in the kitchen. I shall have everything down and out and then have the plate rack down for a dust when everything has been boxed up and put away.

When I went to shut the chickens in tonight as I walked away I heard a stomp stomp and looked around to see the deer run from our little wooded area and jump with ease over the pallet we use as a gate in our back fencing. It was a treat to see and when he got the other side of the fence he turned and looked at me and then went into the wood out the back.

Saying night night now as I think I need an early night.

See you all in the morning.

Morning All, Evening Kim

Well only got my OH to take a couple of decorations down that is too high up for me to reach and thats them all down, phew not sure whats the hardest putting them up or talking them down, I had to stop I'm getting tired, anyway most of the small ones are sitting on the dining room table, so when OH comes back from cycling he can fetch the cases down stairs and I can put them away ready to put up in the loft after.

Sofia & I had a great time yesterday at the pantomime , seemingly this is the second panto she has seen, :-S, she went with the nursery one time, but I think she enjoyed this one better, ,loved shouting, and dancing when we had to stand and do the same actions as Buttons did, what made it more special was that who ever had produced this years panto had put in 2 songs from the movie FROZEN ,
Well you could hear all the children singing along,
I took popcorn and juice with me, but Sofia was so busy watching the stage , that she forgot about the popcorn, :-D :-D :-D

Sounds like Sophia had a really great time out with nanna yesterday. She will be full of it for days now. So glad she enjoyed herself Foina.

I meant to say in my first posts this morning that my first few snowdrops are showing colour in the orchard amongst all the water.

Hi all

Raining here and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon.

Thanks everyone for all your help with area's in Devon, I took a look at Torquay Frank but it was a little bit to busy for us, then I took a look at Wembury Jane, much better but there were only two properties on the market in our price range and one of those was a holiday home, so I tried North Devon and found some Bungalows in High Bickington. Does anyone know what that areas like, I've never heard of it before.

Thank you Jane for your kind offer of your phone number that would be very helpful . I'm sure there are lots more places in South Devon I haven't seen yet, so any local knowledge would be lovely.

Sorry to hear you have flooding Mel, hope it doesn't ruin your new shed and it doesn't get any worse.

That was our main fear..... FLOODING..... it put us off buying in Devon last year. I think I might search for flood areas before deciding on which area of Devon we'd like to move to. The properties in High Bickington were cheaper than we expected for Devon which would leave some money over to live on till OH can find another job. That's one of the problems, moving to a new area, finding a job. The last thing OH wants is to be out of work. So lots to look into, that'll keep me busy and out of trouble for a while.

I liked the pics you sent Mel, the one for the birds is a good idea, how did you make it. What a lovely sight to see the deer too.

I hope Ros didn't go to mad at the shops Frank and that there is still a seat in the car for you for the journey home tomorrow. ;-).

Sorry to hear about your daughter William. Is there any financial help you could get to help with the costs of visiting your daughter when she moves hospital, it might cover the travel costs and maybe accommodation. Could be worth looking into.

The poor cat Ann, how old is she/he, sorry you didn't say what sex it was. Didn't you say your friend had two rescue cats, does the other one look after the injured one. I know when I had cats they were always looking out for each other, it was so cute to watch sometimes.

I like Carol Klein too Ann, I have a book of her's on taking cutting's and call it my bible, I refer to it all the time. Most of my plants are from cuttings and I have about six cuttings on the windowsill in my kitchen which I got off my mum's neighbour a few months ago. I didn't think they'd take with it being so late in the year, I normally do my cuttings in the spring, but they have come on a treat and one of them is over a foot tall now. They are fuchsia's with white and purple flowers so should look nice later in he year when they flower and they're in the garden.

I though it was bad luck to take the Christmas decorations down before the 6th January or have I got that wrong. I can't take mine down till then anyway, as OH is in work and I need all the boxes out of the loft. It's going to look so bare when they all come down.

What a lovely thought to put in two songs from Frozen, I bet the children weren't expecting that. Glad to hear you both had a great time. Did Sofia remember the popcorn after she left the show.

Well, I'd better get this sent, I lost everything I wrote first time round so don't want it to happen again :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Jan 2015 14:04

High Bickington is a nice place Gill. It is near Umberleigh which is near where Carol Clien lives.

Maureen

Maureen Report 3 Jan 2015 14:44

I thought it was just bad luck if you took the decorations down after 12th night. I packed everything away days ago, before we know it we will be getting them all out again for next Christmas the years seem to fly by these days.

Sorry I can't be much help Gill on Devon I only ever go as far as Dorset and that's usually day trips to the beach.

I can imagine Alan Titchmarsh, (think I prefer Gordon's version Ann) being good looking as a young man, he's not bad now as well ;-) I have found Fuschia really good to take cuttings from Gill, they always seem to take, I have taken a cutting of the hydrangea and buddleja fingers crossed they have taken but I'm a fairweather gardener so won't be venturing out there until at least Spring.

I love the wreaths Mel, the birds must have thought they'd come to a 5* hotel, how long does it take you to make them?

I did manage to see most of Eastenders at my sons, they have on demand, I wish they'd get on with it and wind up this who killed Lucy plot it's getting very boring now.

I might have a go at a jizsaw used to do them years ago, my daughter has one of those fold away things specially for puzzles so you can just put it away when not in use.

What a great experience for Hannah it will be a holiday she will remember for ever Jane, although India never really appealed to me I wouldn't mind a trip across the US and there's lots of Europe I haven't been to, Tuscany would be my first choice.

I bet Sofia is still talking about her trip to the panto Fiona, they are all wide eyed innocence at that age. Mateos should be old enough next year to go too.

I really feel for your daughter William, what a long and painful procedure I remember David suffering a lot too.

I didn't get any snow pics from Shirl. either, bet she forgot to attach them.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Jan 2015 14:48

Oh I didn't know it was near Carol Klein. Might pop in for a cuppa and pick her brains on taking cuttings LOL. Thanks Mel for the info. Is there much going on in that area or is it really quiet. Although OH and I like a bit of peace and quiet I think Sandra would like somewhere a bit more lively.

How's your garden now, hope it hasn't got any worse. The rain has finally stopped here, our garden can get a bit water logged but not flooded, thank goodness. I hope everything isn't too bad at yours Mel.

Gillx Report 3 Jan 2015 16:09

Sorry Maureen didn't notice your post before. All these superstitions for Christmas and the New Year. When is 12th night, what date do you start on. Is the 6th January 12th night. I can't remember where I got that date from, it's just something I've heard from a child. Does anyone know the answer? :-S :-S.

It's the first time I've taken cutting's from Fuchsia's and the first time I've taken any cutting's in the winter. OH took some cutting's off a white fuchsia which was in the garden when we bought this place, but again, that was in the spring. Maybe my cutting's are doing so well because they are in the warm kitchen. Who knows ;-).

I agree with you Maureen, the Eastenders plot on Lucy's murder is starting to get boring now. I believe they're not going to say who killed her till February.... talk about drawing it out. I think it's getting to the point where people won't care ether way, if it carries on much longer. Who do you think killed her or are you like me and don't have a clue anymore. Every time I think I've worked it out I'm wrong, so I'll just keep watching it till they tell us ;-) ;-)

It is the 6th Jan, 12th night but in years gone by it was 2nd Feb which is Candlemas.

Don't watch Eastenders as I can't stand all the arguing and shouting. Telly is supposed to be relaxing.................................

Don't think Carol opens her gaarden anymore since the dispute with the new neioghbour.

I didn't know Carol opened her garden to the public, shame she doesn't still do it. What was the dispute with her neighbours about, were they jealous Mel. Where about does she live, do you know?

Very interesting what you were saying about Candlemas.

Enjoy your nuts :-D :-D

Evening All
Oh I am all of a hoo ha now :-D...Just booked 10 nights for Lake Como in September.Got a Lake View room.It is in Bellagio.Chris is very good he just leaves it to me to choose the Hotel !!! We fly to Milan and then have a private Taxi transfer to the hotel which takes 1hr.40 mins.Last time we went there we had a coach transfer which took forever as we kept dropping other people off at various places along the lake.So this will be much nicer.Same again going back to the airport.

I haven't got around to reading the posts from today yet .
Gill I will send you my number by PM tomorrow.

Hannah has sent some lovely photos this morning I will forward couple on tomorrow.
Have done a bit more to the puzzle this afternoon.Oh it is a long job this one :-S
My eyes where so sore last night after straining to see the bits.So i bought a lamp this morning that can sit on a little table behind me and i can angle it on to the puzzle.

I must put some Baking Potatoes in the oven .I have spent so long on the phone sorting this holiday I am all behind.

Jane

Jane Report 3 Jan 2015 18:52

Potatoes in so I am free for the next hour :-D.

Oh Fiona I bet Sofia will remember this trip the the Panto with you.The one she went to with Nursery she may have been too young to remember.

Gill can you give me an idea of the size of place you might be looking to live.Village?,small town? suburbs? On the coast? Inland?
Devon just has the one main railway line,so that might be something to think of if you need to get to visit your daughter without driving. That was the only thing about living there that I found annoying.Just not so easy to get to other parts of the country.

My tree really has to come down tomorrow .I have been sneezing my head off this afternoon .It still looks good and no dropped needles so i will be sad to chuck it out really. But needs must I think now.I have just got the decoration boxes out of the garage ready to put the baubles back in.

Mel your Fairy looked very happy on the top of her tree :-D,and how lovely see your Deer leaping the fence and then looking back at you :-D :-D I did love the Santa pants. What a great idea to fill with Olives ,chutneys etc.

William ,I hope your Daughter has had a more comfortable day today.I feel so sorry for her :-(

Frank are you all packed up and ready for the off tomorrow?.I bet the car will need a push to get it going with all the new buys lol.Hope you have an easy journey with no hold ups.
James has gone to a friends for lunch today .I think there are a group of friends all taking some bits of food.I told him to have a good clear out of my fridges lol and take anything he wanted...anything to get rid of all this food that is left over from Christmas :-D Then this evening they are going to see Johnny's Mum.They are so good to still keep visiting her.I don't know how her Christmas must have been after loosing Johnny.Pretty tough I imagine.
I need to ring an old friend now so might BB later.
