Evening all,
It's been frosty here all day ,we had to scrape the car windows too ,lovely sunshine but so cold with it . We've only been back from son's about half an hour ,we had a nice roast Chicken tea .
Jane i've never tried roasting the chestnuts on top of the wood burner ,we were going to give them a go like we did when we had the open fire ,pierce them wrap then in foil and lay them in the ashes ,i forget how long they take to cook though . Chestnuts were the only nuts we bought this year .
William , hope your daughter is feeling more comfortable now ,she must have been in such pain you can rabbit on as much as you want ,that's what were all here for to help and support each other if we can. <3
Our bin is emptied tomorrow ,it's usually emptied on a tuesday but it's always a day later when it's holiday time .

Evening all,
COLD AIN'T IT. <3 <3 We went to Brixham, thought we would find somewhere to have a nice coffee. No such luck, everywhere is so shabby, I would be frightened to catch something from the places. !!!
We ended up coming back to Paignton , going to that nice restaurant I found to book a table for tonight. When we got there, we were looking at the MENU in the window, when the door opened and was told there was a New Years Eve Party on tonight, as well as tomorrow. Tonight was a FOUR COURSE MEAL with live music and a drink when you arrived for £30,00 per head. Tomorrow was £50.00 per head. We passed on both, and drove along the sea front and found a nice place to eat, overlooking the sea front Starters, Mains, and drinks £66.60 for four of us. We then came home and are sitting around watching T.V. and nibbling chocs.
Sorry that Hannah is still suffering Jane, lets hope it clears up, so it doesn't spoil her holiday.
Well you know what a lovely person I am, that's why everybody wants me around them :-D :-D :-D :-D (BIG HEAD OR WHAT) ;-) ;-) ;-) As we haven't anything to dash home for, we might stay till the weekend. Ros has offered to stand and do all the ironing for Jan. FOUR BIG PILES. It will take her a couple of days to that. I should have invited Maureen down, she could have done it ;-) ;-) ;-)
There's a good old frost coming again tonight, I think we are lucky down here compared to the rest of you.
I found out today that all the old Tinsel and Turkey folk are called "GRISSELS" Where that name comes from I don't know. Any Ideas Mel/Jane.
See you in the morning

Evening all
Sandra says thanks Jane for your kind offer of sending the squirrel photo's when you find them.
Sorry to hear Hannah is still unwell, just when she wants to enjoy herself too. Hope she feels better soon. How long is she away for, sorry if you've already said Jane.
Yes Maureen I think after Fiona I am the furthest one away. We were thinking of moving to Devon last year but was put off with all the floods. Might see which areas of Devon weren't flooded and try looking again for a place.
You talk as much as you want Will, about your daughter, you're worried about her and rightly so. We'd all be the same in your shoes, we are all here to help and support you. After all that's what friends are for. ;-) :-D <3 and you'd do the same for us :-)

Hi all
Jane, I've just checked my emails and they are there, Sandra loved the one of the squirrel in the window feeder and laughed at the one's of the squirrel and woodpecker eating the bird fat out of the coconut. Thanks for sending them.
Just going to watch "A Night In With Olly Murs" I recorded it ages ago for Sandra because she likes his music but it's not just him singing John Bishop is on it and a few other people, looks like it might be a good show.
Thanks Mel for letting me know where most of the flooding was. Is there any parts of Devon to avoid, bad areas if there's any in such a lovely place. I suppose you get them all over the UK so I thought I'd ask if that's ok with you ;-) ;-).
You got a bargain Frank, £66.60 for four people with drinks, glad to hear you're enjoying yourself. Hope you're still feeling ok after your funny turn the other day. How is Ros's leg now, have her bruises gone yet?
Going to watch Olly now Night Night <3

So if we decide to book a Turkey & Tinsel next year, we shall know we a re going 'grizzeling'! If I was complaining when I was young, my Mum would say "Stop your grizzleing" - so is it the same thing!
Lst nights TV was rubbish so thank goodness we had some stuff on the recorder, we loved going back and watching The Glenn Miller Story' , fact based and they knew how to make films in those days. No sex, no violence, no swearing, and June Alyson and James Stewart were just great.

Morning all. evening Kim,,
You are right Jane."GROCKLES", Where did that name COME FROM ??
Ros's bruises are well and truly out now, and the grazes have all scabbed over, and are now itching. I've told her not to pick them !!!
Spoke will Shirl in Canada last night. She is very well and had a nice Christmas. She has a surprise coming up. For her 80th in March. her nieces are coming over from Scotland. Her children have told her, because they didn't want her to have the shock of them turning up at her doorstep unannounced AND HAVE A HEART ATTACK.
Ros has started the MARATHON ironing challenge. She has bought the piles into the kitchen, with the ironing board, so she can watch T.V. at the same time.
Not sure what's on today, but I bet the girls will find some sales on somewhere. and have a look round this afternoon.
Jo mentioned yesterday that it would be nice for us all to go out to eat tonight. If she hasn't booked I bet she will have a job to get in anywhere nice !!!
We were up before 8.30 this morning, usually it's been after 9.00. Must be getting use to all this sea air.
Off now to have a piece of toast and marmalade and another tea.
see you later

Hello Folks, On my own again , OH off to work, and Katherine & Jake travelling up to Nairn, Inverness to spend a couple of nights with Jakes Mum & stepdad, They own a hotel up there, They are fully booked this time of year so Katherine & Jake will stay with Sam Jakes brother, at least Kiah will be comfy this trip as they are going up in the car , in the past it's been bus or train and she gets fed up with stopping at stations or travel places. . shes got her cushion in the back :-D :-D
Thought about taking a few Christmas decs down seeing that no one will be here over the New Years, but decided against it , I will wait till Sat when OH is off work, and then we will take them down , anyway I am going to see the pantomime on Friday with Sofia, and she will want to come back for dinner, so if the decs are still up it will still be festive looking.
Time for a coffee,

Afternoon Al
I'm glad liked the pics Gill.I know i have lots more of Squirrels but they must be a long way back in the photo collection. If I find them I will send a few more.
Lovely photos Mel.How lucky you are to have thew L T Tits.I haven't seen any here for quite a while now.
That will be nice Fiona to have OH off work tomorrow :-D
Oh Frank itchy scabs are so difficult not to have a go at.Maybe all the ironing Ros is doing will take her mind of scratching.
I have Fitz and Georgette coming this evening for Drinks and some party food so i will be busy this afternoon .They won't be staying until midnight (well I don't think so).It will just be for a few hours.
Hannah and the girls have now moved on to the second destination and it is a rather posh place by the sounds of it.There is a big meal ,a sunset boat trip and then lots of entertainment .Indian music and dancing I think .It looks a fantastic setting with all the tables and chairs set up outside at the edge of the water.I'm not sure if it is the sea or a big lake.Just had another pic from her of the sun beginning to set. They are 5 hours ahead so it must be almost time to party :-D
Right I must crack on and get us some lunch. It is just pasta and sauce and some garlic bread.

Afternoon all,
Another frosty morning but with the lovely sunshine it has all gone now and we have a beautiful blue sky. Car was saying 7 degrees when we nipped to Tesco's, lots of people loading trolleys again ,we only need a few bits and i got my mag .
What a lovely surprise for Shirl hearing that her nieces will be visiting in march ,it probably would have been a shock seeing them standing on the doorstep.
Ann, what dear little dogs ,and i see oh was wrapped up well against the cold ,it looks so pretty with the frost covering everything and must have been quite slippery . That's nice your oh has tomorrow off now Fiona , i'am sure Sofia will enjoy the Panto ,will it be the first time for her or did you take her last year i carn't remember . We tried to book for our panto but couldn't get tickets for any of the afternoon matinees they were all booked up there was seats for the evening performances but they finish to late for the little ones .
Mel, you got a good photo of the long tailed tits though the window ,they are having a good old feed , you've made a good job of the cake ,very pretty .
We're still eating bits from the fridge ,tonight will be cold meat with oven chips and pickles , we' haven't even started on any of the cheeses and biscuits yet but they do have a good date on them .
I don't think we will be staying up to see the new year in ,we have had some late nights lately so i think it will be an early night for us .

I love the smell of chestnuts roasting, the smell is better than the taste for me.
I would have come and done your ironing Frank, cheap too, just the price of a meal ;-)
We were in a pub in Dorset a few years back and I'm sure the locals told us the word Grockles was used to describe foreigners, by foreigners they meant anyone from outside Dorset. My mum used to say stop your grizzling if I was crying.
Did you enjoy Elvis Mel, I never really liked him much in his hay day was more a Cliff fan but I'm quite fascinated by him now, looking back he was very good looking and I didn't realise how much he did for charities, gone up even more in my estimation now.
I agree William some of the old films are much better, they didn't have to resort to foul language, explicit sex or unnecessary violence. My favourite of all time to watch at Christmas is Wonderful Life, another James Stewart film.
I'll be lucky if I can stay awake till midnight but with the recent custom of letting off loads of fireworks I don't think it will be worth going to bed, all that noise will wake me up.
