Look at your emails Frank.

Annx Report 28 Dec 2014 21:22

Evening All,

Oh I think you might have got mixed up with Sheila being in hospital Frank! I hope you are feeling well again now after being shaky and shivery. Good idea to not come home tonight anyway with the temperatures dropping and frosty roads. Just want to say THANK YOU for all your emails you kindly pass on to us. I really enjoy them and they get the day off to a good start!!

Hi to Maureen. :-D Good to see you back again! Yes if you did move to Bedford it would be nearer for us all to meet up so that would be a plus! I'll join you with healthy eating again tomorrow.......just finished off my fudge and it was quite sickly too. :-S It was good today to have salmon in hollandaise sauce for lunch and a salad for tea, but there are still goodies to eat up that will take a day or two yet.

Sorry to hear about your poor daughter William, but at least the operation is done now. Her knee must have been very painful. It was David who had an infection in his knee too.

Gill, I think the scarf will be ok and not scratch my neck after all. I've knitted 6 inches of it tonight and stroked it across my neck and it seems fine. :-) That's a big jigsaw you have with the pinks and purples, I tend to mostly have the 1000 piece ones now but some of those can be quite challenging! Jane's sounds interesting with the historic and modern view. I hope your daughter has got her heating back now and has not had to wait till tomorrow. Hopefully she has a fire too to keep her warm as it looks like being very cold tonight.

I hope you have your electric back on now Jane.....at least you had your Christmas candles all ready to light! Are Janice and Larry enjoying having the house to themselves now? Hopefully Hannah was feeling a bit brighter today ready for her holiday.

Mel, the girls have done you proud laying those eggs......an eggstra (sorry!) Christmas present.

We called at MIL's today and FIL said he has felt better this last week so I think the new BP tablets are to do with that. MIL said he'd had a blood test too but she didn't know why? :-S She is liking the new cooker, but even the men who fitted it and took the old one away said the old one looked new! There was quite a lot more snow Hinckley way and it was very frosty still so the minor roads were quite dicey.

We'll be early risers tomorrow to pop and get the scart lead for the Blueray so I'll be off to bed now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Dec 2014 22:09

We have now finished opening our presents. Di bought us a door stop and it's a hedgehog. Even oh had to smile and said it was a happy looking chap. It's lovely :-D

I don't know if any of you watched the program Last Tango in Halifax but the new serise started tonight.

Gill I did'nt see the program on Lewis Hamilton you were talking about.

That ferry thats on fire is a terrible thing. They hav'nt got them all off yet but they have the fire out.

Morning a ning all and evening Kim,

Bright sunshine this morning but everywhere is still frozen outside and even my pond has started to freeze around the edges a little. The cars white the roads white the grass is white except where the sun is getting to now but it does look pretty.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Dec 2014 11:37

Are you all frozen?

Hope Jane managed to get the leccy back on yesterday.

MillymollyAmanda Report 29 Dec 2014 11:41

Morning all,

Frosty start here this morning ,but we're not going any where today ,we're having a lazy day , it will be nice not to be in the kitchen cooking ,eats today will be what ever we have in the fridge which is loads !!

Had a nice day yesterday with sister and BIL,then son and family came in the afternoon and stayed for a buffet tea.

Oh William your poor daughter with her knee infection ,i hope she doesn't have to go through another big op like my BIL did .

Jane ,hope the electric soon came back on ,i wonder why it went off like that .
Did Hannah get off on her holiday ok ? i hope she was feeling better so she can enjoy her time away.

Are you feeling ok now Frank ?

Ann, hows the scarf coming along ? i looked at some wool with the sequins in and wondered if they might scratch the skin ,i don't suppose the small sequins would as they are not so hard as the bigger ones .

Suns out now and i can see lovely blue sky , a nice day for walking but you'd need to be wrapped up against the cold .

William

William Report 29 Dec 2014 12:06

I went and spent an hour o so with my daughter at the hospital yesterday afternoon and she was cheerful in spite of what she's been through. They drained two 'jars' of muck from her knee while she was awake and she said she -screamed the place down! No wonder, think I would have too. It was taken straight away to Uni hospital Path lab in Coventry so I expect when the doctor makes his ward round today we will know more.
She can't get off the bed yet and is still on strong pain killers.

I'll let you know more when I do. I made sure I got home before it got too dark and frosty, just as well looking at whats out there today.

We had to forgo the 'Family Day' with the rest of the family yesterday but then again Carmel wasn't well either and spent most of the day in day. I'm pleased to say she's OK today and we are trying to tidy up some of the presents etc. The one thing we don't have to worry about is having something to eat, we are more than well stocked.

Jane

Jane Report 29 Dec 2014 12:12

Morning/Evening All

Well it is just me and Chris now.James and Jess went about 7.30 last night i the dark lol..The electric was off for about4 hours I think.Actually it was so quiet and peaceful .I stretched out on one settee and Chris on the other.Within minutes he was snoring his head off and I had a doze but made my self stay awake by reading my new Kindle. It was so cosy with all the candles ,the fire and my Christmas lights that run on batteries :-D.I was quite disappointed when it came back on.
I have no idea what caused the problem and am not sue how many of us were out .I know the next 2 along were definitely affected but couldn't see any further and it was too cold and icy to go out the front to have a look.

Gill thanks for trying to think of ideas for me to keep my food hot.Yes the top oven does get quite warm when the main one is on but just not enough to keep any food really hot which is why I do like ti turn it on a bit.
But my sister suggested something. She said why didn't I put a sheet of foil against the glass to protect it a bit from the heat....So that is what I did and I think that will be fine to do until I get the new bit :-D...Which reminds me I must get on the phone again to them.

William I do hope you Daughter will be in much less pain and discomfort now after her op.What a shame for that to happen just now. :-(

Maureen what a great idea for you to move to Bedford :-D :-D.Get that house of yours on the market :-D :-D :-D

Yes Hannah arrived safely at the resort .I got a text come through at 1am this morning.
She actually rang just now to see if I had received the message as she thought I hadn't got it .But my reply just hadn't got through to her phone.
She said it is beautiful with lots of colourful wildlife. They are in a very peaceful place so nothing much around them at all other than nature. She did say that she and the others went for a little walk earlier and a group of school children were coming along the road. She said they were so friendly calling out Hello and big smiles and doing the wobbling of the heads that they do when greeting people :-D
I think the girls are all shattered after a very long journey ,plus all being full of colds. So today and tomorrow they are in the same place and then move on to somewhere else.
I have the itinerary so can keep a track on where they are. There is no wifi where she is at the moment but hopefully in a couple of days I might get some lovely photos :-D

Lovely pic on Kim's FB with her new little Granddaughter :-D :-D

Gill any news on your daughter's boiler? I do hope the chap managed to keep it going for her.Is she on her own or does she share? It is too cold to be without any heat or hot water today. BRRRRRRRR!

Frank I see you had one of your turns...Too much of that sea air I reckon ;-)
I hope it was just a one off again .When are you coming home?

It is such a lovely morning ,the sun is shining.Chris is having a bonfire and I am back to clearing up all the mess and catching up on the washing.....So I will get on and BBL

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Dec 2014 13:13

All I have done today is feed the chickens and wild birds who are going crazy for anything I put out and done their Christmas seed ring to put out when it has cooled down. It will be lunch next!! as Mandy said anything from the fridge as oh has polished off all the sausage rolls now and wants me to make some more.

Thats quite a while to be without leccy in this cold weather Jane but I hear you both made the most of it all cosied up. I sometimes just have candles inthe kitchen when I am watching a bit of telly and the Christmas lights of course.

Willliam that must have been awfully painful for your poor daughter. Have they put a drain in now? so it dos'nt build up again?
Best to stay in while the weather is like this with it being so icy out. Take care both of you.

Where did Ann say she was going today??

I really must get some ironing done this afternoon. I have piles of it again and I did'nt think I had done that much washing............ :-0

Gillx Report 29 Dec 2014 13:30

Hi Everyone

Not so cold here today and the ice on the patio has finally gone although we still have frozen snow on the grass. The sun is out so the snow should melt away today.

Glad to hear you have a solution for your oven Jane, what a good idea ;-) ;-). Have you managed to get in touch with them yet. Let's hope it's not to long before the glass is replaced and you can get back to normal.

It sounds like you were nice and cosy last night with your candles and wood burner. I wonder if you'll ever find out why you had no electric.

Hope Hannah and her friends have a nice time and their colds clear up soon. It sounds a lovely place and the people sound friendly too.

Your poor daughter Will, at least she'll start feeling better now her knee has been drained. My OH said he had to have his knee drained when he was younger and it was very painful, but it did make a heck of a difference after. Let's hope your daughter is now well on the road to recovery

My daughter lives in a flat on her own Ann and doesn't have a fire so having no central heating wasn't good. The repair man couldn't fix the boiler yesterday, it needs a new gas valve, but he did give her a heater to use until it can be fixed today. She had a little heater of her own, but said the one the man gave her was much better.

She's just waiting for the repair man to turn up, so is watching a DVD while she waits. We're going to have another chat online when her DVD is finished. She also has a broken waste pipe which is being fixed tomorrow. I hope she doesn't have a third thing break :-S.

Glad to hear your scarf won't rub, sounds like it won't be long before you've finished it ;-) ;-).

I agree Mandy, it's so nice to have a break from all the cooking, luckily I judged the size of both Turkeys just right so won't be eating it till Easter lol. The lamb I had yesterday was lovey and tender and made a nice change.

Hope everything is ok with you today Frank.

Off to watch Barry Sheene now. I recorded it last night.

Did you watch it Mel

Afternoon all my beauties. What a lovely day it is "to be sure" Sun and blue sky's, but a very heave frost last night.

Have just spoken to John in Tenerife. it's 28 degrees in the shade. He went onto to roof top this morning, and had to come down because it was too hot.

Kerry and Mark went home this morning. We won't be coming home now until Wednesday or Thursday. We are going to the Garden Centre this afternoon., and Brixham tomorrow.

I did get things mixed up didn't I ??? I thought it was our Shirl who had a stroke. I didn't give a thought that it might be the other one from Birmingham

Yes Jane all fine and dandy now. I think I needed an intake of sweet things. (which I have never had the urge for). No idea why.

When I had my left knee operated on years ago it filled up with loads of puss, The doctor at the hospital got two litres from ONE VERY SWOLLEN KNEE. My own doctor had to do it twice more. Not a nice experience. Hope your daughter is O.K. now WILL. <3 <3

Mel Eggs at this time of year, it that usual ?? We have been watching a ROBIN going in and out of the wall, with his little beak filled with moss and things. I thought it was too early for nesting, but it is DEVON. Then this morning Ros saw two pigeons going into a palm tree with bits of twigs. SO IT'S ALL HAPPENING DOWN HERE !!!

Would you believe it. JOHN AND CAROLYN have invited us out to Tenerife during January or February. Don't know if we can afford it. But it would be nice.

Any more snow up your way Gill.?? Sandra might still be lucky with that SNOWMAN.

After loading 1,700 books on my Kindle, Conrad has put on another FIFTY of the latest releases, he finds these things on some web sight, but I don't ask questions.

Those lobsters Ros bought down with us, went down like a bomb. everybody tucked into them. I think there is one left in the fridge. All the two hams have been eaten. The last of it for sandwiches at lunchtime today with a bit of pickle.

Jo has finished with her clients for today, so we will be going out shortly to the garden centre. Then back home to get dinner ready. It never stops does it ???

Jane Report 29 Dec 2014 14:14

Oh Gill ,your poor daughter!.Thank goodness she was given a decent heater to keep her warm for now. What a pity she couldn't come home for Xmas.

Yes I finally got through after 30 minutes (again) The new glass has been ordered and should be here in a few days :-D What a faff though. At least it is done now.
What a pity your OH has been called in to work.Is it because someone is off sick and not enough staff?
We are just going to watch Downton Abbey, even though I have loads I need to get on with.Things can just wait :-D

We had iffits for lunch.if it's in the fridge and needs eating :-D

Mel my birds are eating like crazy too.I can see them now .It's like whacky races ,all trying to get in front of each other lol

Frank Tenerife sounds good for the New Year.I'm sure you can afford it.Just stop buying thing on EBa* ;-)
I hope you have nice weather for going down to Brixham tomorrow.Wish I was down there.I so miss the sea :-(......Being in the middle of the country is not where I want to be.
Right Downton has just started so must go and watch.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Dec 2014 15:23

Frank my pigeons in the garden never stop building nests because pigeons give their squabs milk to feed on so don't have to search for food for them. Thats why pigeons were so needed for food in olden times because they breed all year round.

As to the Robins they are pairing up this time of year and a robin builds about four or five nests to impress the wife and she chooses which nest she will lay her eggs in or if he is a good builder or not. It is all about who is the strongest in the animal and birds kingdoms.

Maureen Report 29 Dec 2014 15:24

Lucky old you Frank, don't pass up on a chance to go to Tenerife, best time of the year to go too, when us poor souls are freeeeezing our you know whats :-0

I like the iffits for lunch Jane although you wouldn't get much of a lunch from my fridge, maybe the only drawback to being away all over Christmas no goodies to tuck into, but I've still got half a tray of those chocolates, oh dear, they are calling me now.

Your poor daughter William, sounds really painful, I wish her a speedy recovery.

I have missed so many posts, where has Hannah gone and is James just going to Jess' for the holiday or has he moved now.

Frank I think if/when I move to Bedford I should have a party, what do you think?
It might be a while yet though, someone said it's not a good idea to move closer to where your children live, who knows in a few years they may decide to move again.

Mandy did I read on one of the posts a reference to another baby on the way.

I saw that picture of Kim and Sophie too Jane, it is lovely isn't it and some lovely pics of Fiona's grandchildren too.

Does your daughter live far from you Gill.

I watched Last Tango Mel, it promises to be just as good as the first series. Missed all the soaps over Christmas so haven't a clue what's going on. Youngest daughter and SIL bought me a YouView box, I still haven't worked out how to use it, I thought I could just catch up with the last 7 days when I got home but it needs to connected to the internet or something.

Go for it Frank, how can you say no to a nice bit of hot and sunny weather :-D i wouldn't think the flights would be too much this time of year .

No cooking for me tomorrow ,son just rang to ask if we would like to have a meal with them tomorrow ,Roast Chicken was mentioned ,will be a change from Turkey and Gammon .

Yes Maureen another grandson on the way ,DIL should go in for a c section on the 21st January so not long to wait now :-D

The sky does look strange out there it's all grey as if there's some thing coming :-S
I bet its freezing out there now , i have only been to the back door to let Toby out for a tiddle .
We had ifit's for lunch and it's the same for tea tonight ,there's so much that wants eating up ,i so hate wasting food .

Hubby is fast asleep ,he just gave an enormous snort :-D :-D i thought it might have woken him up but it didn't :-D

Hi All

Just watched a film on channel 4 with Sandra, it was a true story called "Hachi; A Dog's Tale"

Such a good film, it starred Richard Genre as a music professor who finds an abandoned puppy at a train station and they develop a deep bond.

The dog used to sit outside the train station waiting for his master to come home from work. Then one day the owner died at work but the dog "Hachi" carried on sitting outside the train station till his dying day waiting for his master's return.

They put a bronze statue of "Hachi" in the place where he waited.

Sandra and I were in tears watching it :-( :-(.

Just chatting with my daughter, she's still waiting for the gas man
Haven't read the posts yet
