I read that as Richard Gere Gill. Don't like watching things like that because it upsets me so.
Had to take more water round to the chickens as what I had left them this morning had frozen again. When I corned them I took water with me and they surrounded the drinker and could'nt get it down quick enough. I have now put a small bantam drinker in their chicken house so the warmth from them should keep it from freezing.
Still not done any ironing................. once I get going it's not too bad but it's the getting going..... :-(
Think I may make a cuppa and see how I feel after that.
Don't forget to do your wild bird water a couple of times if it is still freezing your way.

Really don't want to go out picking up ironing tonight, it looks so dark and cold, I had last week off so they will all be expecting me tonight.
I bet Jake is thrilled Mandy to be getting a baby brother at last. You've done really well with one son, is this baby no.5. I think it will only be my youngest daughter now, all the others have said no more, still, you never know.
Don't think there's much on the tele, I'm the same as you Jane I like Gogglebox, do you have a favourite, I love the two Sandras I can't help but giggle at the two of them.
Well I'd better get myself wrapped up ready to face the elements, brrrr, just the thought of it.

Hi again
The gas man has finally turned up at my daughter's so hopefully she'll have her hot water and central heating back on soon.
My daughter lives in Leeds Maureen and I live on the Wirral so quite a distance and she doesn't drive, so hasn't got a car. She only moved there in September and stayed with a friend till she found herself a flat in November, so she's not been there very long. I think she just wanted her first Christmas on her own, but might be regretting it now with her boiler on the blink and the weather being so cold.
Hopefully the repair man will have it fixed soon then she can put the heating on. Apparently the condenser trap was blocked so he's replacing it and the gas valve was ok in the end, so it shouldn't be to long now, then she can get warm. I'm chatting with her as I write this post. He's just testing it now
Well, you learn something new everyday, I didn't know some birds build nests this time of year, I'll have to keep a look out in our hedges, that's normally where they nest in the spring. Our hedges are around 15 foot tall so plenty there for them to nest in. I like watching them go back and forth with twigs and moss, they work very hard, it's a joy to see.
Tenerife , I bet you'll love it. I'm sure the flights won't be to expensive.
No more snow here yet Frank, we've still got some left from last time, it's frozen solid so even with the bit of sun and rain we've had it's still there, at least the ice has gone off the garage roof and the patio so hopefully the rest will melt soon. I don't think we're going to get anymore snow just yet though.
Was Downton Abbey a repeat Jane, or have I missed one :-S :-S. I like the iffits very funny. I don't know why OH was called into work but it's probably someone ringing in sick so they would of been short staffed. I'm sure he'll tell me later.
Ann I've just seen your emails I love the one of all the little dogs, it's very frosty where you are, we've had a bit of a frost this morning but nothing as bad as that.
Better get back to my daughter, last I heard the repair man was still doing the tests. Just about to post this when daughter said the repair man has noticed a leak so he's hopefully going to fix that now. It just needs a rubber seal which hopefully he'll have on the van. BBL

Evening All,
I am in the half light in the kitchen, so excuse any mistakes.
We weny to the garden centre this afternoon, everything was 50% off so the girls had a hay day. Tos has been buying next years Christmas presents. We also called at a Ceramic warehouse where there was a sale on !!! At this rate Tenerife is OUT. !!
Conrad had me in stitches in the garden centre. He picked up a BIG DONKEY sand walked around with it in his arms. The next I knew he had dropped that off somewhere and picked up a BIG PHEASANT and continued on his walk about. He Finally dropped that off somewhere. he is more like a child of 10 than a man of 45.
We are having turkey Curry tonight. then I am off to the pub to watch a match. K.O is 8.00 pm, so hope dinner won't be long. Or I will have mine when I get back.
Hope your daughters boiler is up and working Gill. We had trouble with ours a few weeks ago, so I know what it's like with no heating and vhot water.
Thanks for the nature lesson Mel, I should know thjese things, but being a "Cockney Sparrow" O never knew that..
Jo hgas a client now, so dinner will be about 7.40 pm, I will havew ro get mine down me quick. if I don't want to miss the start of the match.

Still no news for daughter Mandy in hospital. The doctors are still awaiting the lab tests on the 'stuff' (polite!!) sent over for analysis two days ago!! I suppose the holiday has meant staff shortages so what can be done, nothing. Unless I hear something to the contrary in the morning, I'll go up and see her in the afternoon. I know she had a rubbish night (her words) and I know from experience that can be the case. Twice I've been in the adjoining ward to hers and can vouch that there's more activity at night than in the daytime :-(
We have had an easy day and Carmel has been feeling a bit better today. I put a couple of lines of washing out to 'freeze dry' - but of course, it didn't. Then Carmel washed her hair and I set it for her. Yes, it's on my 'Carers' CV now, as Gill will know, you gain all sorts of skills when you become a carer LOL. Carmel doesn't like to go to the hairdressers and if she does, she always washes it herself in advance. She can't manage those sinks where you have to go backwards because of her own back problems. Trying to find a 'home' hairdresser around here is murder. Anyway, I'll try and give you an update tomorrow and hope it's good news.

Evening All,
Oh you should go to Tenerife Frank......be a shame to miss the chance! ;-) Is there something you can sell on E*ay to swell the funds..... you usually have a sort out in the spring. It's something I need to do in the New Year and get rid of some stuff. :-)
That's good your daughter had some heat Gill and that they left her a fire. I hope they have fixed her heating now. The knitting is growing slowly, I quite like the sequin effect and who knows, I might even find a hat pattern to do in the same wool when the scarf is done!! I could have done with OH's hat over my ears today. :-) Gill I watched that film a little while ago and it's fantastic how loyal that dog was isn't it. I really enjoyed it.
We went to the little tearoom where the burglary was today and I had lovely tender carved gammon with egg and chips and OH had F&C with mushy peas. It was lovely but better not become a habit. I had my Christmas pud with some cream when we got home but OH didn't want his yet. We buy individual ones so OH can have a rum flavoured one so we are both happy. :-) We tried to go and get the Blueray cable this morning but it was gridlocked with traffic at the retail park so we came back and went at teatime when the traffic had eased. We had to get an extra adapter for it to fit the telly end too. We also need a new microwave combination oven, but didn't see any I liked that were a reasonable price. One, all singing and dancing one was over £400. I don't like the stainless steel doors or mirror finish ones as they show fingermarks and white would stick out like a sore thumb in my kitchen as nothing else is white. It's just a case of keep looking I expect! There was a big queue at the Post Office when I went to post that duplicate book I got back to Am*zon. They don't even charge you the return postage which is great service. :-)
When we went for a walk by the quarry and that pack of little dogs came hurtling towards us barking excitedly I thought we would get muddy paws all over our legs, but not one of them jumped up at us which was a nice surprise. They were really enjoying themselves and headed off into the undergrowth together next.
I've recorded the Wolf prog that's on tonight. There was an amazing episode of the Dog Whisperer that had an expert on wolves and had amazing insight into their needs and behaviour. She was brought in to help people who had problems with wolf/dog hybrids, which are not a good idea and many are ending up in animal shelters in America. I remember she said to contain a wolf, fences needed to be 10 foot high and go down into the ground 6 feet! She said they like to smell your teeth as an introduction. :-D

Don't want any dogs smelling my teeth thank you very much. Ann those individual puds are not big enough for my oh. I buy a big one and cut slices off, pop them in a bowl and give them 50 secs in the micro.
I am going to try and watch that Mapp and Lucia. I like Miranda Richardson but not sure if this is my kind of thing. We will see.
Maureen if you have a youview box you have to pay for it each month and it is on the net so it has to be plugged into to the internet. I use mine every night to watch the things I want to see without oh talking over things.

Morning all and evening Kim,
It's all frosty out there again today and we have lovely sunshine. Oh made me laugh yesterday. He said to me you really should park your car up the garden by the small arch in weather like this. HE was the last person to use the car so why did'nt HE park it up there??????? Needless to say it is still outside the kitchen window in the shade of the bungalow and covered in frost.
I did'nt watch that program last night but found a silly film to watch instead, a Christmassy one.
Ann I just love Biggles in his new gear........ :-D :-D :-D :-D

Morning all
Sunny here but very cold, the snow is still frozen on the grass I'm beginning to think it's never going to go, it's all patchy now so doesn't look pretty anymore.
Hope you hear some good news about your daughter Will and that she'll be able to leave hospital soon, is she going to stay with you when she comes out. Can she walk on her leg yet. It's not nice to spend Christmas in hospital and it'll be a shame to have to stay there for new year as well. Maybe you could do something special together to make up for missing most of Christmas. Did she see her brother in the end.
That was a lovely thing for Conrad to do, to make sure you got home safely.
Have a great day in Brixham today Frank. What a nice thing to do, going for a meal to say thank you, will you take them to the place you found by the harbour.
I'm chatting again with my daughter, the men have been and fixed her waste pipe and will come back tomorrow to fix the floor and wall, she's just waiting for the boiler man to come back as he thinks it wasn't a leak after all, it was condensation so he's took the plate off and ask daughter to keep an eye out for leaks, she said there wasn't any so she's just waiting for the man to come back and put the plate back on. At least she has her hot water and heating back now :-D :-D.
Just heard another message come through so better go and read it Be Back Later

Afternoon Everyone My word its cold.Nothing is thawing at all unless the sun is on it,and i think the sun has gone now .It took me ages to scrape the car when I went to Waitr***.I seem to have filled the 2 fridges up again :-S :-S.Chris will have a dicky fit when he looks in them LOL I passed a bit of road(the Burton Latimer by pass) Franks knows, where some poor chap was killed yesterday or the day before. :-(.It is a notorious stretch for really bad accidents.Gave me goosebumps .There must be at least 3 lots of flowers along that bit where others have died :-( I also saw 2 cars in ditches .They must have just gone off in black ice.I'm glad I'm home in one piece :-D
Gill your daughter must be so happy now to have her heating and water back on.It must have been pretty miserable for her without .
Wrap up warm for Brixham Frank.I hope the sun is shining for you down there.
Ham eggs and Chips for us again tonight.I have bought some rather unusual eggs this morning .Cost a bomb so they better be good :-D.
William ,it may take a couple of days to find out what the infection is so they may want to keep your daughter in until they know what's what.
Mel typical Man lol Yes if he was the last one to use the car then it should have been him to leave it up by the arch !!!! We have pidgeons doing the cooing now, somewhere out the front.I haven't seen them but hear them each morning....It's too cold for them to be 'at it' surely !!
Ha Ha!!!!! I just had a good laugh.I saw Chris wheeling the black bin out ....and then saw him bring it back .....I shouted out the window asking what he was doing ....Wrong day he says it MONDAY.........No says I it's TUESDAY .So it's gone back out again :-D :-D....It is TUESDAY isn't it???....Nobody else bins are out :-S.Maybe everyone is confused lol
Gill somewhere on my pooter I have some nice pics of squirrels we have had.I will try and find them and send you a couple.I thought Sandra might like to see them.

My ex always moaned that I didn't put the seat back after I used the car but he was just the same not putting it forward, I couldn't even reach the pedals.
I didn't realise you had to pay monthly for youview Mel, can't see anything in the instructions about it, but I'm still trying to get used to it, SIL recorded some programmes when he set it up, I've yet to find what I press to watch them.
You didn't miss much not watching Mapp and Lucia.
So you must be the furthest North after Fiona Gill, I live just outside London, in Middlesex. You must miss your daughter now she's moved. A few years ago my son and DIL were seriously considering moving to Australia, a big sigh of relief when they decided not to go.
Hope things are improving for your daughter William.
You must be excellent guests Frank if they want you to stay longer.
I used to do a lot of knitting years ago in those days it was cheaper to make your own, it's the other way round now, hope you will take a pic of your scarf when it's done Ann

It is a funny week with Christmas falling on a Thursday. Yes Jane it is Tuesday.
Gill good to hear your daughter has her heating and hot water back on now. she will be nice and cosy now after the last few days.
We've had sunshine all day and blue sky edge to edge. The sun is just starting to go down behind the trees now and it's feeling a bit chilly so I may just turn the heating back on.
Made oh a coffee earlier and me a tea and completely forgot about my tea. I had'nt even put the milk in, just taken the teabag out. It went into the micro to heat back up but it is never the same as a freshly made one.
I remember going to Brixham one year and going on an old fashioned boat, a gallion that was used in some film years ago. I wonder if it is still there? It could be. It had fancy patterns on it made out of brazil nuts and they were going to restore it. That must have been over 30 years ago. How time flys............. :-S :-S I also remember my hubby at the time having a huge crab sandwich there. Yuk.............

Back from hospital visiting now. Mandy is on a drip as she was dehydrated, she is cheerful in herself but has this enormous sore on her top lip. They came with her pills while I was there and it reminded me of the ad where the lad says 'She shook her Tic Tacs at me" ! She is getting plenty of family visitors and treats but when I left I could see she was getting tired. I spoke to one of the staff and was told that they are liaising withe Nuffield in Oxford where she had the op done on her knee so I'm not, like everyone else, where it is all going.
I guess everyone will be glad when I stop rabbiting on about my number one topic of the moment but we are not doing much else here. Thank you all for your concern and kind words.
It was nice to get 'out and about' this morning viewing Ann's photos that she emailed out to us. I just love the one with all the little dogs running.

Oh Maureen I am always getting moaned at after I have driven Chris's car.Not putting seat forward ,and the fact I have changed all the mirrors. When Hannah drives mine I can't even get in as she has the seat so far forward. Her nose must be on the steering wheel lol
I used to knit..well just scarves and the odd babies cardi ....I was hopeless really :-S Can't sew either :-S.Yet my sister can knit ,sew, paint, decorate and do all sorts.I think I'm a bit of a failure in the Arts department.Must be our different Genes. Her Birth family must have had the Arty bit ..Not sure what mine had :-).Not a lot I think :-D
I don't think it has been above 3 degs today...Hannah has 32 !!!.That is far too hot for my liking.I know Maureen you would love that.Tomorrow Hannah and the girls move on to the second place.A luxury resort. She is not feeling at all well with her UTI.She had to ring her Dr this morning to find out the results of her wee test. She has finished her antibiotics but is still having trouble. She may have to see a Dr :-S..I feel so sorry for her as she is obviously worried and just wants to feel better. The messages have been flying back and forth today!!...This is when I wish Chris wasn't a DR :-D
It's not even 5 and already I am yawning. It just feels so much later. Question for Mandy or Liz (if you are looking in) Can I cook Chestnuts on top of the Woodburner? It was just a thought we had this afternoon.I haven't got any chestnuts but might buy some.
