I am just going to bed, I managed the shower thanks Jane.

I thought you would like the SQUIRREL Mel, I sat here on my own laughing like a good 'un.

Yes Jane when the heating is playing up, you can't settle, wondering if it is or isn't on. Touch wood ours is O.K.

Chris must have lots of patients with Fitz, I rely on Jonathan when Conrad isn't around. He never seems to mind, or he doesn't show it.

Yes Mandy, I managed a pint or three, and watched the match. Ros was home when I got home, and had a nice prawn roll and Morriso#s help yourself salad. We decided we didn't want a Takeaway tonight, so had a nice salmon sandwich instead.

See you in the morning

Sunny here again but some of the frost still around. Oh is off ringing so I am home alone. I'm going to have a good hoover through and then a shower before he gets back.

Morning/Evening All

I too laughed at Slippery Squirrel It was quite determined wasn't it lol.
How 's the toothache this morning Mel?

The sun is out here and it's not so cold :-D.But we do have the fire going as it takes a fair while for the heat to build up from it..No call yet to say when these people will be here. They said between 10 and 12.They better not cancel again otherwise we won't be happy bunnies.

I'm looking at the window with the feeder on and the Squirrel has left loads of long streaky feet marks all over it :-|...it is really bad so I will go and give it a bit of a clean.

I'm doing Roast Pork for this evening.it seems weeks since we had a good roast.Just the thought of those lovely crispy roast potatoes Mmmmmmm :-D

We haven't from Gill for a day or two.How all is well.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Feb 2015 11:13

Electrician is here.and floorboards up on the landing :-S..I think I will just disappear I can't bare it lol I have run out of Fabric Conditioner and we could do with more milk so that is a good excuse...I will leave Chris to hold the fort :-D

I can hear sawing going on :-S :-S

Frank

Frank Report 8 Feb 2015 11:48

Morning all,Evening Kim,

A real white one this morning, frost everywhere. Cleared away now where the sun has got to it.

The birds are in a "LOVING MOOD" this morning. I have been watching from the conservatory window. The doves "are at it "on the greenhouse roof, the blackbirds and blue tits are chasing each other up and down the bushes and trees. Blue tits also around the bird box. I have put a feeder just under the box so they will know they won't have far to go for food.

Well at least they are there Jane, I suppose they are re-routing the wires, hence the sawing. Should all be fine now. WE HOPE> !!!

I hope Gill hasn't done a "MOON LIGHT FLIT" after finding a buyer :-D :-D :-D That was a favourite in CORBY in the 60s.

Cold seems to have cleared up, no stuffed nose and the coughing has stopped.

Off to get the veg done for tonight's dinner. Roast pork with all the trimmings, not forgetting the apple sauce !!!

I have cleared my in box of all the funny emails, so for those who receive them ENJOY.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Feb 2015 12:23

YEAH!!!! we are sorted :-D :-D.......it was a compressed grey cable (on the edge of a brick !! Inside the cable are the 3 wires one of which had a split coating so that wire was then touching another(I think the earth wire). So it was very dangerous.
Chris will now have to replace some floorboards tomorrow .
I am so relieved it is done and everything is working ok again.....I think it might get too warm soon LOL

The sun is so bright ,the Robin is having a good bath ,splashing the water everywhere :-D..The other birds too are all up to high jinx lol..

No apple sauce here with our pork Frank..Well we do have jar of the stuff that I think Jess likes. But I'm not keen on fruit with my meat.

Thats good your cold has all dried up now..I bought a big pack of individual packs of tissues just now as Jess has a streamer and she will be needing them when she travels back home tonight.

I see I have 10 emails I wonder who they might be from ;-)

Mandy is it a 'big ' birthday next week? I know you said it was coming up but can't remember if it is this year.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Feb 2015 12:51

All hoovered showered and shaved as Frank would say!! He he he :-D

Did I have a job with the hoovers. I started with Henry in the kitchen as a lot of my hair on the carpet where I do it every night. That done I did the dining area and then his pipe fell off at the hoover. Broken off!!!!! So out comes Dy**n and after 7 attempts to get it going without turning the leccy off I finally worked out how to make it work. If I do some sucking up with the pipe first and without the brushes going round that seems to be ok then I can turn the brushes on. With all this faffing about by the time I had finished and was just about to go in the shower oh came in. I just carried on after telling him I was going in the shower. We have to do that because if he turns the tap on the shower goes cold....................... :-|

Frank

Frank Report 8 Feb 2015 13:10

That was always the trouble when the hot water comes off the system. We had an electric shower installed when the bathroom was converted to a "WET ROOM" since then I have put a shower cubicle in, it saves water going all over the bathroom.. POOR 'ol 'ENRY No pipe anymore. can you buy a new one ??? They just screw in, don't they ???

Glad they found the problem Jane. That could have been nasty had one of you had spilt a cup of tea in the landing. You could have ended in a pile of ashes !!!!

All finished in the Kitchen for a few hours. You don't realise how long it takes doing the veg making the pudding and CHEESE SAUCE. Jane, don't you have Cranberry with Turkey, or mint sauce with lamb ??

Just ordered another bar of lights for the kitchen, one end only has a flush ceiling fitting, which doesn't give out a lot of light. So MADAM will be pleased.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Feb 2015 14:53

Crikey Mel that sounded a marathon job with the 2 hoovers !!!.I hope the leech stayed on and that your shower was nice and hot and OH didn't turn any taps on :-D.That would have given you quite a shock :-0

Frank ,no I don't like Cranberry Sauce with my Turkey Apple Sauce with Pork ,Pineapple with Gammon..But I do love Mint Sauce with Lamb..But then that isn't a fruit :-D
I agree it takes an age to do all the spuds and veg etc.I have just peeled the potatoes and carrots.Just need to peel the parsnips and sprouts. The Pork is in the oven now as it takes 2 and a half hours.I hadn't realised what a big joint it was...No cheese sauce here today Frank LOL.But I found some lovely stuffing things (Pork Leek and Pancetta) in the freezer from Xmas .They will go down a treat :-D

I could do with better lighting in my kitchen. So yes I bet Ros will be really happy :-D

I had a look down the hole in the floor and there are an awful lot of mouse droppings :-S :-S.I think they must have been from when we had mouse trouble some years ago.
I don't want to have too close a look just in case they look fresh lol.
It's quite a gap to get over to get in our bedroom :-S :-S
Chris is doing stuff in the garden and has just called for a cup of tea.So I better get the kettle on.

Evening all,

It's been a nice sunny day ,hubby has been out side again cutting more wood .

Son and family came this morning and i had my cuddle with Lewis :-D he seems so tiny after having Lacey sit on my lap.

Yes Jane i will be ...... 60 !!!! :-0 :-0 :-D i was talking to hubby's niece yesterday and she said no you carn't be 60 :-D it was her mum's 70th birthday tea party that we went to ,she was saying they are trying to get all the family together for a family meal out ,i think she said there would be about fifty of us ,she said the only time we really all get together is for a wedding or a funeral and she's right .

Glad your all sorted out now with your heating Jane , i wonder how long the wire has been like that ,could have been nasty if it had shorted out and caused a fire !!

Poor little Henry :-( losing his pipe ,can he be repaired , hubby use to have a Henry in the van ,it was a good little hoover ,but i don't think it liked all the muck and dust hubby use to put in him !! he went to the tip in the end :-D

Glad your better Frank, when you say bar of lights do you mean those spot lights for the ceiling or lights for under the wall units ?
I'd like some lights under my units , some times you just need a little light ,but don't need the big light on ,i have the extractor light over the cooker so i use that some times , but i'd like some sort of light the other side of the kitchen.

There was a beautiful sunset tonight ,all the sky was pink .

I hope Gill's ok perhaps she has had some extra viewings !!

Annx Report 8 Feb 2015 18:32

Afternoon All,

I had to figure out what your leech was Jane? lol. What a palaver you have had with the heating. On....off....on again. Was it the carpenter who did the bedroom floor who left the cable trapped like that? Doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened and you might not have been at home when it did!! :-0 It's good that it's been found now and put right though and that it's all systems go again. I wouldn't know a fresh mouse dropping from an old one!!

Glad you are on the mend Frank and back in the kitchen!! I could do with more lighting in the kitchen and just have a trio in the middle of the ceiling. I should have had some under the top cupboards when we redid the kitchen. That little squirrel wasn't going to give up without trying really hard was he!! lol

I don't like most cranberry sauce as it's often too sweet and more like jam! I like it best when it's just the berries microwaved. If it's not been artificially sweetened I'll have a good dollop of apple sauce with anything, usually turkey or chicken which I eat most of. :-D I also have mint sauce and horseradish with any meat too if it's available. :-)

I can't believe you will be 60 and due your bus pass Mandy!!! :-0 Where does the time go. Yes it would be good to have a different reason for a get together. I was really feeling my age when we went to MIL's today. FIL was showing us their new stair lift that's just been fitted and said to me 'this is what you'll want when you are a bit older!!!!' lol. It takes up so much space, there's hardly room to go upstairs the usual way now so OH had to be careful.

Our shower dwindles and gets chilly if we put a tap on as well Mel. I have to make sure the washing machine and dishwasher are off too when we shower.

Maybe Gill is busy looking for a place to buy now!

Call the Midwife and Frank's favourite Mr Selfridge tonight! :-)

MillymollyAmanda

Jane

Jane Report 8 Feb 2015 19:03

Did I say Leech somewhere Ann? Oops sorry bad typing lol
Fresh mouse droppings are a lot darker than old ones. Old ones are a lot drier too.You have to get close to see :-D.No the chap who came today said the wire has being squashed over years.(yet I am sure we have that floor board up before).I don't know but the main thing now is that we are safe :-D :-D

Dinner ready :-D

Frank

Frank Report 8 Feb 2015 19:29

It comes to us all Mandy, It will hit me this December, I never thought I would ever get to 60 :-D :-D :-D :-D <3 <3

The block of lights it for the ceiling. We have down lighters under the kitchen cabinets, but hardly ever use them. !!! Now that they have been mentioned, I must use them more, THANKS.!!! We already have SIX lights in the cooker end of the kitchen. Plus the HOB light. We must be going blind, to need all these lights.

I will be either on the computer or in the conservatory when MR. S comes on. I have never seen an episode, so I can't say I can't stand it. It must be because the Actor portraits someone I can't stand. I am funny like that, I can take an instant dislike to a character, and from then on in, I won't watch it.

I know mint sauce isn't a FRUIT, but when you add a touch of sugar with the mint and vinegar. THAT makes it sweet. ;-) ;-) ;-) I love all sauces with my meats. My neighbour when I was a lad, covered his Sunday Roast in Tomato Sauce. How about trying that JANE ?? <3 <3 <3 You might like it. !! ;-) ;-)

Yes Gill is absent on parade, who signed her pass ???

Any more sign of Mr Fox Mel, and have you put any more eggs out.?? Wouldn't it be better to leave a note telling people "FRESH EGGS FOR SALE" come to the bungalow.??

Yes the sunset was really lovely this evening, I couldn't lay my hands on the camera or I would have taken a photo.

The piece of pork we had today was the sweetest I have had in months, you only had to show it the knife and it fell apart. I can see me having cold meat chips and pickle tomorrow night .LOVELY JUBLY As Del Boy would say ;-) ;-) ;-)

West Ham were unlucky not to win this afternoon, they were all over Man. Utd. for the whole match and were 1-0 up, United scored three minutes into stoppage time. LUCKY BUGGE#S I will have to have a few beers to drown my sorrows. Well I do need an excuse <3 <3 <3

Might be back later, behave yourselves !!!

Annx

Annx Report 8 Feb 2015 19:45

LOL Mandy!! The worst bit is they want your photo for it!!

Now you mention it Frank, mum used to put a bit of sugar in mint sauce and a bit of hot water before the vinegar. I love the smell in the kitchen when new pots are cooking with a sprig of mint in......so appetising!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Feb 2015 22:39

Took me a little while to work out what leech was too Ann. Should have been leccy.

Yes new mouse droppings are black any that are a bit grey are either dusty or mouldy and old. If they are REALLY fresh they shine!!

I used to breed mice when I was young in my wendy house dad built me from fish boxes from Frank Martin's fish shop. Frank knows it. It was my nan's brother and his wife.

I cleaned the bantams out lateish today. I was going to let them out for an hour but oh came out and stood on our bench seat and saw the fox over the back field so I kept them in. It has been such a nice day here and warm with it.

As to Henry, I did't break the pipe off it comes unscrewed. I did'nt know this and when oh came in he just screwed it back on. What a twonk I felt.............. :-0

As to people coming down to the bungalow for their eggs. I don't want people driving down the drive more than they have to. It's a long way down here from the road frank as Ann or Jane will tell you. Most of the locals who buy my eggs are ok and if they under pay one time they make it up on the next time or leave me a note. It is the people who come and stay in the big house who usually help themselves as they probably would'nt come here again.

Gillx Report 9 Feb 2015 00:49

Hi All

Just a quicky to let you all know I'm still alive lol.

I've got a rotten cold and feel terrible. I was suppose to have a viewing today but now it's next Saturday, well, I think it is. The agent was suppose to ring me back to confirm it but he didn't. Hopefully he will tomorrow.

I've not had any feedback from the last few viewing's so I'm not sure what's going on there and now OH is thinking of taking the bungalow off the market and staying put. He thinks I've got a cold because of having to go in and out of the property all the time for the viewing's and not having a coat on. Don't know how true that is, all I know is I really don't feel very well. Hopefully I'll feel better soon. I look a bit like Rudolf now with my nose running so much and having to use tissues all the time.

I took a look at some of the emails you sent Frank, which cheered me up. I loved the squirrel it was so funny.
I've not had a chance to catch up with all the posts yet, as I've been asleep on and off all day, so may read them tomorrow if I feel up to it.

Off to bed now.
Night Night <3

Morning all and evening Kim,

Another sunny day here.

Good to hear from Gill but sad you have a nasty cold. Naughty girl for going out without a coat on. It dos'nt take a min to put one on and I'm sure the viewers had theirs on.

I have a few things to sort out today so see you later.

Gillx Report 9 Feb 2015 11:13

Morning all

Haven't slept very well last night, think it might of been all the sleep I had yesterday. I've started with a sore throat now, but at least my nose has stopped running which is good.

It's a dull day here and I've got to go food shopping today, hope it doesn't rain.

Glad to hear your heating is fixed Jane. What a shock that must of been when BG told you about the wire, it could of been much worse, thank goodness it wasn't. Hope Chris manages to get the floorboards sorted today, you don't want an accident. At least you're warm now, so that's good.
I bet you can't wait to get your new car on Wednesday. There'll be no stopping you then. Just be careful of the hands free phone, I think if you are distracted because of it and an accident happens you can still get into trouble. £30 a year for your tax is good though, ours is a lot more than that.
It sounds like the Rats have finally gone Jane, I bet your so glad they didn't end up in the house. They're bad enough outside. Let's hope it's the last you see of them now.

I don't blame you Mel for keeping your bantams in if Mr Fox is still around, better to be safe than sorry. Let's hope your OH can get rid of the fox, then your girls can run freely again.

You asked when Sandra's birthday is it's 28th April, she'll be the big 30 although she looks about 15 and hates it. If we go to the pub they won't let her have a drink, which she gets embarrassed by, bless her <3.
Sorry to hear you've had a bad tooth Mel, I hope it's better now. How lovely of your neighbour to give you Tulips for feeding her cat, I bet you were made up.

Have you chosen which carpet you'd like yet Maureen, I bet you'll be glad when it's all finished and you can move back in.

That's nice Amanda, having your son call in for a cuppa most days, I finally got to chat with my daughter yesterday but not for long as she was getting ready for a birthday party she was going to. She's so busy nowadays we don't get to chat very often, so it was nice to catch up.
Good idea to clean the carpets before moving back into your bedroom. Now it's all fresh to match the painting.

How lovely when the little boy asked his mum where the telly was Ann. So the film was that good you fell asleep lol. Some films look good on the trailer but can be quite disappointing when you go to see them. Hope the next one you go to see is better.
Sorry to hear your nephew is in hospital, hope it isn't to serious and that he'll be home soon.

Glad to hear you have finally got a sand box at the end of your street now Fiona. We had one when we lived in Wales, at he top of a very big hill and it was a god send. You'll noticed such a difference. I know we did.

Sounds like you're over your cold now Frank, how are your lips, hope they are starting to get better too. There's nothing worse than losing a post, hope it wasn't a long one you lost.

Yes you're right Mel, I should of slipped my coat on. I'm paying the price for it now, I've learnt my lesson the hard way, as my mum would say. I will wrap up warm when I go shopping later ;-) ;-) <3
