Frank Ros is busy painting i see ,what colour paint did Ros pick for the cupboard doors ? How awful those daughters going through all the drawers taking things like that ,they sound a right lot , i think i would stay away from the funeral and just remember him quietly on your own on the day then if there's any arguing or any thing your not involved .

Mandy what about filling them with bags of cheap rice? That would go up the hoover easier than those poly balls which always stick to everything. I should'nt think they will split them anyway they are too sensible for that.
No Liz?? Hope they are both ok. <3

We've just got back from the hospital! The final X-ray on my leg was absolutely fine and I've been discharged!! So sorry to hear about your BIL Gill. As everyone has said he is in be best place, but nevertheless it's a very sad time for you all. Goodness Frank, fancy keeping all that money in a drawer!!! Surely it's asking for it to go 'missing'! As Mandy says, they don't sound very nice people so best kept away from!! Enjoy your new Hoover Mandy!!

Well here I am all dressed up, with nowhere to go.!!!! After shower and shave, I got the shakes and had to sit down for a while. Once dressed, I decided I didn't really want to go out by myself ib case I had a fall. I have started a new book, which I am finding very hard to put down. It's just a wonderful story and I m only on chapter 4, so I expect it to get better the further I get into it.
The paint colour Ros is using in a SILVER/GREY. the surrounds are a GRANITE colour. I must say they are looking good. She has some very nice paper to go on two walls, the other walls, one is taken up by cabinets, sink and windows. The other will be painted over in another colour of her choice. It's no good asking me about colours as I' m COLOUR BLIND. :-| :-| :-| Any shades and I am lost. also greens and browns. Red is O.K. provided it's BRIGHT RED.
Liz was at the doctors today for the results of her latest tess, so hope everything is alright xx
Ros has finished painting for today, and has just gone for her shower and hair wash.
She has offered to take me to the football club tonight. A young footballer passed away on the pitch a few years ago, and they are holding a memorial day next month. There will be football matches, BBQ ,children fun games, raffle and the Cup Final at 5.30 pm followed by a DISCO. Ros has found out some items for the raffle which I will take with me if I go tonight. There is a Glass Chopping Board, a pair of Silver Photo Frames, and I have a mens toilet set that I can donate. IF and only IF I go to the "FUN DAY" it will be so hectic as it's Michaels Birthday that day as well, and he wants me to be down the pub for a few beers to celebrate. I will have to get Ros to take me to the venues hic -- hic. Seriously though, I will only show my face at either and just have ONE PINT AT EACH.
Yes Rice sounds a good alternative to those polystyrene balls. Mandy. My these delivery drivers do earn the money with all those to do in a day. Gawd knows what time they start and finish. I'm glad it's not me. :-P :-P :-P
Darkish sort of afternoon here, so I will just sir and read and wait for "BIGGLES" to arrive.

Afternoon Everyone.
Gill,I hope the visit to OH's Brother today hasnt been too upsetting. He will made comfortable and well looked after and I am sure the Hospice is a much better place to be rather than in a hospital when the time comes . Thinking of you all <3
That is great news Liz. This new hip has been a great success for you.
Frank I love the sound of the new colours in the kitchen. You will have to take a pic when it is all done for us to see.
I have been out most of the morning over at Rushden Lakes doing a bit of retail therapy :-D I bought myself some new tops . 3 are fine 2 will be going back. A new pair of Earrings that caught my eye, couple of Bras, and a couple of other bits and bobs. I need to decide whatI am going to wear tomorrow for London. It will be vey casual but no too casual. I will do that now before getting dinner.
Good luck filling the Elf Mandy. Rice does sound as though it might be an idea. The only thing with that is if the Elf did split rice would make far more of a mess than the polystyrene stuff !.
I have written the Card for H&G and Chris wrote the cheque. He said he need a lie down then LOLOL I, must remember to put the card in my handbag and not leave it on the table!. I am typing this with tacky fingernails as I have just varnished them so I am having to be very careful not to smudge them.
I heard something on he radio yesterday and it was someone on local radio plugging some do in a village hall somewhere. It was a Beetledrive. I havent heard of that for years and had forgotten all about them. It used to be a very common thing to have a Beetledrive.
Still nothing from the PLUMBER :-P

Mel i never thought of using rice thats a good idea , i have stuffed the body of the first one and it sits ok so i might just leave them like that .
Frank that colour will look nice in the kitchen it will keep it nice and light , what colour were the doors before Ros started on them ?
Are you going on the train to London Jane or driving ? What a lovely surprise it will be for them when they open the card and see the Cheque, yes don't forget to take it with you . The children loved playing the Beetle game at christmas but we lost one of the legs
Liz that's good news from the hospital ,Colin's first hip he had done lasted eighteen years so if yours does the same you have a few years to go :-D
Just had the hoover delivered ,the poor man went running back to his van ,what a long day they have .

Good evening all
Much better weather today.
I can remember when my mother used to go to beetle drives in the 1950's but don't know much about it.
Gill, The hospice will be a so much better place for your BIL, my Uncle Harry was in St Michaels Hospice in Hastings & St Leonards and is such a peaceful place to be and not at all depressing the staff had so much more time to spend with the patients, I hope your visit was reassuring.
Good news Liz that you have been given the all clear from the Hospital and don't have to go back again. One of my SIL's husband is having his hip replaced in a couple of weeks he has been in a lot of pain for sometime sometimes reduced to tears.
Frank, That was shocking to read that they could sink so low as to take all that money was taken at all but even before the funeral beggars belief. I know he wasn't divorced from his wife is it possible that he made another will after they split? Ros has been a busy bee again and the new colour scheme sounds very nice
Have a happy day tomorrow Jane they will love the card and appreciate the cheque.
Good to hear your foot is on the mend Mandy

Anne your SIL's hubby will feel a lot better when he gets his new hip. It's a bit of a fuss at first as you have to be so careful not to bend or twist, but you soon get used to it and in no time you're back to normal. Tell him to cut his toe nails right before he has the op as you can't bend to do them for about six weeks!! Mine got so long that I had to go to the Chiropodist in the end just to have my nails cut!! Mandy, if my hip lasts that long it will probably outlive me!!! We're watching Chester Zoo! It's so lovely seeing the baby elephants, and the giraffes etc. Brilliant prog!

Mandy we are going by train tomorrow. It is so easy. The only time we drive is when we we actually go to where Hannah and Gareth live. So tomorrow morning we get the train at 10.55 arrive at St Pancras an hour later. We will have a light lunch at a restaurant in the station and then get a taxi to meet up with H&G at the place where we are seeing the Agatha Christie court case thing, Witness to the Prosecution .Then we have a table booked at The Ivy Brasserie in Soho for a meal about 5.30/6pm . This is when we will give them the card(once we have ordered our food )and have a glass of sparkly stuff to raise :-D
I would love a new hip. The pain when it hits is like a red hot poker and stops me in my tracks.I have actually done a YELP in the middle of Tesco when I suddenly got a shooting pain in my hip. I felt so stupid and had some strange looks from people .
Liz that is such a good idea about cutting toenails before a hip op. Our friend Fitz didn't do his before his back op and I eneded up cutting his for him.He wouldn't ask his OH !!! :-S
I will sign out now for tonight. If I don't get on here in the morning then I wont be here until Sunday.I shall probably just want to drop straight into bed when we get home tomorrow. It will be about 10.30 So good night everyone . I hope everyone who has bad nights has a great sleep tonight.

Liz you mentioning Chester Zoo reminded me when Richard was about 3 we visited and he pressed his nose up against a bird cage and got pecked on the nose. Not the last visit as one of Peter's brothers and his wife lived in Ellesmere Port not too far from there, this was he was an RSPA inspector for the area..

Well I was most surprised to see my post went though. was just going to type TESTING, TESTING. before starting to post, to make sure it was working.
GOOD MORNING TO YOU ALL.
I expect Chris and Jane are making their way to the Station, I hope they have a nice day with H & G.
Well after all he cuffing around I didn't go out last night. I just didn't feel like being sociable. I was in my dressing gown by 7.00 pm. I did stay up to 11.00 pm watching Embarrassing Bodies. You can't believe some of the things you see. !!!
Biggles has been such a good boy, you don't know you have got him. He sits at the conservatory door when he wants to go out. I let him out this morning at 7.00 am. I left the doors open and he came in when he was ready. He's been fed, now lying at Ros's feet. Ros will go and meet Martine this morning, for their Saturday natter, and odd bits shopping.
Quite a nice morning here. I have felt the grass, but too damp to cut. I might have another feel this afternoon.
I have ordered Two bags of Richard Jackson's posing compost, so Ros has plenty for transplanting seedlings when she in ready. I have also ordered two packs of different shaped buttons and trinkets, for her "TWIDDLE MUFFS" She has knitted another FIVE this week. Carolyn is also making some.
I must have missed your post Liz, Glad everything is O.K. with your tests. xx
I really can't understand these "Trades people" You would think they would as least contact the customers, when they can't make the appointment. It's just plain BAD MANNERS.
I have a few jobs that need doing, but don't feel like doing anything at the moment. Ros wants the paper stripping on the kitchen walls. The drive and patio needs Pressure washing, and he sheds and garage need tidying up I need some energy tablets. lol lol.
I see it's the Grand National today. I can't watch it, and hate to hear about the poor horses that have to be put down if they fall and break legs.
Have a pleasant day, I expect there will be a bit of gardening going on around everyones areas. Don't over do it. Theres another day Tomorrow. xxx

Afternoon all
We're back from seeing OH's brother, we also went to see MIL. It looks like OH's brother only has a couple of weeks now. He is sleeping a lot so it's only short visits as we don't like the thought of him trying to stay awake just because we are there. We have to sign in and out so noticed that he's had quite a few visitors over the last two days. We wanted to go yesterday but the roofer couldn't do the roof until late evening as it was to wet and therefore unsafe for him to climb on the roof. He kept coming back to us when it stopped raining but then it started again just as he was about to climb on the roof. Finally there was enough time without rain for him to fix the slate tiles but unfortunately to late for us to go out.
We had a bit of a problem trying to find out which Hospice he was in as they wouldn't tell us if he was there, something to do with data protection, saying we could be anyone on the phone, so we had to ring OH's older brother who couldn't remember the name of the hospice but knew the directions. When I checked online there were five Hospices around that area. In the end we rang the one we thought it was, gave them the directions OH had been told and ask if they could confirm it was their place, the nurse reluctantly said yes, so we finally managed to visit BIL early this morning.
The hospice is a lovely place, it looks like it used to be a farm house in the country as the front is a double fronted detached house where they have built extensions onto the back, it is in a lovely garden and very peaceful. The staff are lovely but thought I was BIL's wife, OH explained who Sandra and I were and that BIL's wife is a smaller lady, but it's nice that the staff take an interest in people, wanting to know how we are all related to BIL. I think OH feels a bit better knowing his brother is being looked after well.
It was BIL's idea to go into the hospice. They gave him a shave and a wash when he arrived which he said made him feel a little better and they are keeping his pain killers up so he's not in any pain at the moment which is much better than when he was at home. Like I said he is sleeping a lot, drifting in and out of sleep. He can't walk anymore and refuses to eat solid food as he has trouble keeping it down, so the staff give him smoothies which he likes and is drinking plenty of them. We're hoping to go and see him again on Monday or Tuesday as the rest of the family are visiting too. This way he sees all of us and gets some rest in between visits. His wife and children are visiting him this afternoon along with his other brother. His mum, sister aunt and uncle, plus his older brother visited yesterday.
I can't get to the end of the thread, keep getting the error page, so thought I'd post this in the hope it goes through and I'll try again later to see if I can get on here to read the posts.
