Good evening all
Quite windy here but very warm when the sun came out this afternoon.
Thank you Frank for the advice on the plug plants I will be putting in an order tomorrow.Years ago I bought some dry root roses which didn't do very well at all. You have been a busy boy, I hope you haven't been in too much trouble with Ros but I can understand her for being cross but it's only because she loves you.
Mandy I don't know what tablets your son will be taking for diabetes I am on Metformin twice a day with no side effects, so hopefully he will be OK. It's good that Colin's sister will be living close to you so you can visit her, willl this be a permanent arrangement?
Lovely pictures of the little wren building its nest Mel I haven't seen one in our garden for quite a while
Jane that breakfast sounds very appetising much better when its cooked for you as well, I think that would keep me going until the evening meal.

Morning all
I can't get to the end of the thread so I did the post date thing and now I'm having to read everything back to front.....very confusing I must say, but at least I'm on here which is better than nothing. It looked like it had rained before I got up but has now brightened up a bit. Lot's of clouds around so who knows what's in store for us weather wise today. It sounds like it's been very windy elsewhere in the country, it wasn't like that here.
No we didn't have the gate done yesterday Jane, we decided to wait and see if the original fella can do it as we know what his work is like and for the extra £75 it's worth waiting. Next door prefers to wait to, although I think she's still saving for the jobs to be done so the longer it is the better for her. Your breakfast sounded nice. I missed that programme, I saw it advertised and was going to put it on the planner but forgot. Never mind I've got lots of programmes to watch, a few of them on the Royal's so that'll keep me out of mischief for a while. OH has gone to his mates today, I think he needed some male company, it's the mate who lost his partner so he'll know how OH is feeling right now. It sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you today, good idea to stay at the hospital it would save you some time that way. I did laugh when you said Thomas was getting all frisky with the windy weather.
I see you cut your lawns in the end Frank, hope you weren't in to much trouble with Ros when she got home. Good idea to lock the porch door as like you said anyone could of got into the bungalow while you were around the back.
It sounds like Colin's sister is more settled now Mandy and close enough for you to go and visit her. Pleased to see your foot is on the mend now, that must be a relief? Did your greenhouse stay up in all the wind you had? I'd rather buy tomatoes as plug plants, I'm not very good starting things off as seeds. I'll keep my fingers crossed yours grow for you.
I've not bought my plug plants online Anne, I tend to buy them from the garden centre so I can see them, you never know what you're getting online do you? Having said that I have bought other plants online which have been okay, but they were a bit bigger and stronger than plug ones.
I think I'll take a look at my family tree this morning while Sandra is still asleep and OH is out, I can concentrate better when it's quiet.

Afternoon all I am in a bit of a rush as just back from the hospital with my neighbour. Oh my gawd what a numb bum I got sitting on a very hard chair for 3 hours !. She said there is nothing bad to be seen other than a weak muscle which it the cause of her trouble. So that was good news.
So now I am trying to get lunch all ready before Fitz gets here. Chris was good and prepared all the salad stuff so one less job for me now.
Mandy I am so pleased that OH's Sister has settled well in her new home and looks much better.
I will be back sometime much later :-D.. Just put a sleeveless top on so I should get a good dose of Vitamin D from this lovely sunshine.

Afternoon to you all, Oh what a beautiful say we have here. I nearly burst into song, with Oh what a beautiful morning etc.
Ros was out last night with Mothers Club. They had booked tables at a lovely pub, that does excellent meals. I sat at home, with a Morrison's salad and a SEA FOOR PLATER.
During the evening, I thought why are you so tired. Then I remembered I had been up since 5.15 :-P :-P :-P When Ros came home 10.30 pm we chatted about her evening, and left her to watch her recorded soaps, and went to bed. An hour and a half later I was back in the lounge. She was watching "One born every Minute" and I read my book. She came in to bed about 1.30 am and I was still awake. By 3.00 I was ready to get up again, but hung on in there until 7.30.
John rang this morning asking if we would like to go out on the "NENE VALLEY RAILWAY" to Peterborough, have some lunch there and come back on the train. With a day like today I thought that would be lovely, BUT Madam has/had an hair appointment for 11.30 this morning, so unable to go.
Ros is on that Metaformin (sp) as well, I think she has two each day.
It's nice that you won't have far to go Mandy to visit your SIL, I do hope she goes on alright. xx
I remember a little wren nesting in a box at Gayton just outside the dining room window. When the babies decided to leave the nest "STAMP" our old cat leapt in the air and caught one. Roa was out in the garden, she smacked him across the back and he opened his mouth and it flew off.
I think Tony's box has been taken over for the Spring. The little birds are in and out like yo-yos . I bet they are building there little nest. I must keep my eyes on my box's, we have FIVE around the garden.
I am under strict instructions, not to go into the garden to do anything. I was going to try to Power wash the drive and patio. But, I might be allowed out tomorrow. lol lol.if I am a good boy ;-) ;-) ;-) I will go and trim round the lawn edges while she's out. It will be done and dusted, before she gets home. :-P :-P :-P

Too late, I was just going into the garage to get the long handles sheers. when she came in !!!
I had a tray of cockles with pepper and vinegar , cold beef sandwich with horseradish and a COC for lunch, so I am well full.
I have finished my book, thats three to go to Tony. BUT Val called me over the fence, and gave me a bag with EIGHT BIG books in. Some hardbacks, so plenty of reading material for me,
Ros is in the front garden, weeding and trimming. She is on Tony's side at the moment cutting his grass away from our flower bed. He never trims his edge. :-| :-| :-| What an absolutely beautiful afternoon it is, I bet you are all in your shorts in the garden. Don't get sun burnt lol lol
Chinese Ribs, chips and B. Beans or Corn on the Cob tonight. So nice and easy. I might even walk down the pub tonight and raise a glass to STEPHEN for his departure tomorrow. Bless him, reunited with his DAD xxx
When this is all over, I might be able to get a good nights sleep.

Really beautiful day here, lots of sunshine and lots of spring cleaning!! Big load of washing done, dried outside and now folded up and put away. :-D. OH 's blood tests came back clear, so that's another concern out of the way. The feeling is that he's had a mild infection which has now cleared up! Tomorrow M is coming to supper! He's coming early as he's going with OH to look at a possible car! 'We shall see, ' as they say!! I shall make a big shepherds pie with treacle tart for a pudding! That should fill M up !! Chicken in white sauce with rice for supper so easy and not too much clearing up!! :-D

Anne they are the tablets Metaformin that son will be taking ,one tablet a day for a week and then onto two a day . We're not sure what's happening with Colin's sister yet ,i think unless she can get her legs moving again and be able to sit and stand on her own she might be in the home permanently and have to sell her home .
Naughty boy Frank you nearly got caught by Ros :-D :-D mind you i think she might have noticed the edges had been done . You'll be well away now with eight books to get your teeth into ,you'll be able to get your chair out into the garden tomorrow it's going to be another lovely day.

I have been busy all day as the sun has been shining and its been really warm. A proper spring day at last.
Oh mowed then said he needed petrol so we went off to Hatherleigh for that and it was nice to have a ride out for me as he drove. I put the washing on the line before we went.
We had lunch then and then I started on the dinner. I have made steak and kidney pie from scratch and its a big one as I was going to make two but decided against it. It seems like I have been on the go all day.
I did get some cobwebs down too and opened all the windows. I had a huge bumble bee come in the kitchen while I was cooking and had to shoo it out.

Morning all,
Another lovely sunny morning here as I hope it is with you. I want to see if I can do a bit of gardening today as my back is a lot better today. After today it will probably be bad again. I don't like this getting old thing. I can remember mum saying that.
I also need to have a clear out in the fridge and wash the shelves where the milk goes so I am going to make a start on that and the windows in the kitchen need a good clean.

I have washed my two big mohair blankets and they are on the line now.
I have cleaned the door window inside and out and I must put fresh fly pen on it as the midges were rife last night. Every time I went out to see the hogs the backdoor was covered in them and of course the min I open it to go in they all come in. I had the fly zapper on and it was going off nineteen to the dozen. That now needs a clean. I am just about to run the hoover over the kitchen and then have a coffee.
Oh is up the top field mowing so I am getting on quite nicely down here on my own.
You'l feel good once you've had your hair cut Jane even though its a hot day.

Good Morning to you all,
Yes what a beautiful day, when I got up 8.00 am. I opened all doors and windows to let what breeze there was to get in.
I raised a glass to my Nephew last night at the pub. Before I went I phoned my SIL and my sister. Fran SIL had her daughter coming to wash and do her hair, and sort out what she will be wearing for today. Quite naturally she was in floods of tears again. My sister Mary sounded in a good mood, she is feeling a little better and sat in the garden yesterday afternoon while her son Paul was there.
The cremation will be staring any time now. 11.15 . I am sure it will go off without any trouble from his WIFE and his children. Fran promised me, that if an argument starts for any reason, she would walk away from it. My nephew John will be there to sort things out, if anything starts. It's such a pity that these things flair up at funerals. I know our side of the family are going to the "CROWN AND CROCKED BILLET" for the wake, and his wife's side are going to the "UPLANDS CLUB" where my brother Bill was the chairman for many years, and no doubt Stephen drank there with him during those times.
Ros is doing a bit more in the kitchen this morning, while I will be sitting around doing nothing.
Good news for you and Ian Liz, another worry out of the way.
Carolyn is having a growth taken from under her eye this morning. I hope there's no after effects from it. One never knows with these things. :-( :-(
I has prepared dinner for this evening. Roast Chicken, new potato's, carrots, brussels and Runner Beans.
I hope you all have a nice peaceful day, and get all your jobs done. xxxx

I must make an appointment to get my hair cut too Jane! My wretched trapped nerve has been playing up again so I've put it off!! Our GP has told me to take codeine and paracetamol, but getting it from the chemist is a right performance! They'll only give you three days worth after being given the third degree by the Pharmacist!! I've been advised not to take Ibuprofen as I'm on pills for high blood pressure (I knew that anyway!!) So back to Paracetamol!! I've also been given a form to self refer for some Physiotherapy!! Is this good or bad? Time will tell!! M's getting here by 3.00! He's very good as I know he's busy and OH does go on a bit!!! No treacle tart!! So OH bought chocolate ice cream and meringue! So that'll be alright!! :-)

Glad oh's test was clear Liz. I must have missed that bit of your post sorry.
About three years ago my doc gave me a big box of Co-codamol which I think is the two mixed together. Its so silly if they only give you three days at a time a waste of time and money getting there to keep picking them up. O and diesel and fumes etc.

They've gone!! Now for some peace!! All I can do Mel is to do the round of the local chemists and get as many as I can that way! It's no way to have to carry on though! If all else fails I'll have to go back to the surgery for a proper prescription. Yes Co- codamal is the two together. The Shepherds pie is done and in the slow cooker, so all I need to do is microwave the cauli and make a white sauce! It's really lovely sitting out here on the deck with Cas and Jasper(!!) She's not so frightened of him as she once was which is good. Think I'll have a snooze while the going is good!!

It ain't half hot MUM. wow. I just looked at the temp. in the lounge which is in the shade and it's showing 26 degrees, so lord only know what it is in the sun ???
Liz, I am on Co-coldimol (sp) for pain. We do our scripts once a month, but they never give me enough to last a month, so we have to order more in the last week or so, which is so stupid. The reason for Chemists not giving out more than three days, is that the tablets are either sold on as highs, or used for suicide attempts.. You as a customer of a certain age, don't come into the equation. But they have to abide by the rules laid down, which I agree are ridiculous,
I have just watered/filled all the trays in the greenhouse. It took seven watering cans to do it. Ros has been on the front garden all afternoon, weeding, re-setting self sets of all descriptions. She has even given some to Pam next door, and VAL. I can't see VAL doing anything with them, other than throw them in the bin.
I bet you are glad (NOT) to have had your BARNET (hair) done this afternoon Jane, I bet you were pleased when it was over, and you could get back in the fresh air. lol
Poor old "BIGGLES" he doesn't know where to lie to keep cool. He's in and out of the back door, but ends up lying in the middle of the lounge floor, catching what little breeze is coming through. I have been in shorts and bare chested since my shower.
I bet Ros will be pleased to be in a NICE COLD CHURCH this evening, with the choir practice, while we have to put up with the heat.
I am so pleased we have the cotton sheets on the bed now. I love getting into a nice cold bed.
I had better go and get the chicken on, as Ros will need to be out by 6.45 pm. I have recorded her soaps, for when I go to bed. What a STAR I am !!!!
