Mel I had a huge wasp in our bathroom today too !!! I managed to flap it out through the big window.Lots of lovely Bumble Bees around :-D
Thomas is still not here :-S My whistle must travel a bit as I heard a neighbour somewhere copying my whistle LOL .. But where is Thomas ???. If he is not in before we go to bed I shall put some dried food in the Summerhouse .(I can hear Chris trying to whistle ... he is not good at whistleing :-D ) If Thomas is not back by morning we will have to have a look out and about :-S. I keep checking the road out the front just in case he has been hit by a car.

Just had a message from James to say he is leaving work . So that will be half 8 before he gets in and then after he has eaten he will have a journey of nearly 3 hours to Jess. :-S :-S

Jane I hope Thomas soon shows up, I expect its the hot weather that's keeping him out Shadow often does this in the warm nights, yesterday morning I didn't see her from about 11 am until about the same time today she is missing again now.

That's a long day for James having to drive to see Jess after working he must be shattered when he gets to see her.

Morning all,

Another dry mornig here but they do say this will be the last nice day for down here.

Jane did Thomas come home please?

Egg delivery to do and go to the shop for my paper so the usual Saturday things to do and then I may go up the border and do a bit of cutting down.

Frank Report 21 Apr 2018 11:58

Good morning my sweeties, xx

I have been a busy boy, was yp before seven this morning , called Ros at 8.45 so she had time to wake up and sort herself out, before going to meet Martine at 10.00 am

I was in the garden before 9,00, trimmed both lawn edges, then got the mower out and have done both lawns. The stripes in the back lawn look perfect, even though I say it myself.

Just had my shower and got dressed.

Jane the blood leaked from the injection. She took the bloods from my left arm as usual.

Just spoken to Sister Mary, she has been sitting in the garden this morning while Paul was doing some jobs. She said they had 16 GOLDFINCH'S in the garden feeding on the sunflower heads that she gets Paul to buy. Last week she had parakeets in the garden, she didn't know where they came from.

There are some very large Bumble Bees around . I am forever catching them in the conservatory and releasing them into the garden. That big wasp might have been a HORNET. They are the real nasties. :-( :-( :-(

Well it's time I wandered down to the pub to catch the match and have a couple of pints. Which I think I deserve after all th work I have done this morning . That's my excuse, and I'm sticking too it lol lol.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Apr 2018 12:26

No Frank it was'nt a Hornet it was a Queen wasp looking for a nest site. She did'nt get far as I caught her in the fly catcher and squashed her outside the back door.

Suns out here and its another nice day.

Oh has just put all the netting back around my pond after fixing the new frame to the top so we can put a net right over to stop the leaves going in there.

We have seen 7 baby fish and there may be another but they move around and hide so its hard to tell just how many there are. They are all black at the moment. 5 large ones left of the original ones I had and two of those are my babies from other years.

Afternoon All

Yes Thomas did come home at 9.30 !!. He was really weird when he came in and was sitting in behind a door just looking at the wall :-S We said he looked like he had been on the Magic Mushrooms LOL All spaced out. He slept all night until 5.45 and went out for a couple of hours then came back and slept until midday. He has gone now.

Frank you have had a busy morning. Bet the lawn looks tip top :-D Enjoy the match and a couple of pints :-D

Mel we have so many wasps around (big ones too). Your fish sound like they are doing well.I dont know how you can manage to count them !.

Another lovely day with a pleasant breeze and slightly hazy. I have James's bedding washed but I think I will put it in the tumble dryer rather than hang it out because of the pollen.

This afternoon I need to book somewhere to stay when it is the wedding. I will do a block booking for us ,James and Jess and Janice and Larry. I hadnt realised how quickly places are getting booked up now for December !!!!! I might have said that the place Hannah wanted us all to stay is already booked out. :-S But they have managed to get the suite there. So at least She and Gareth are sorted.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Apr 2018 15:08

What a shame you can't get in where Hannah and Gareth are Jane. I'm pleased Thomas came in as I was getting worried.

Its started top cloud over here now after a lovely sunny morning. I think there is rain on the way for tomorrow. We never get this warm weather for long enough for me. The chickens have a nice dry run at the moment but if it rains tomorrow they will e back to paddling again all except Clara Cluck Bucket who gets out over the gate. She did it this morning just after I walked away after feeding them. I picked a load of Dock leaves and threw them over thier fence and then she wanted to go back in so I let her.

Anne

Anne Report 21 Apr 2018 17:35

Good afternoon

Sunny day here but it did cloud over for a couple of hours and it rained for a short time very big drops and it brought both cats in.

Pleased that Thomas has come home I wonder what caused his unusual behaviour . Shame that you didn't manage to get in the same Hotel as Hannah & Gareth Jane. Your sister has made a lovely job on her table well done to her

You have been busy Frank a good idea doing it all early on and hope you enjoyed your well deserved drink.

Mel love the name of your hen she sounds quite a character I have always loved chickens since living for a time with my great Aunt who homed hers in two old railway carriages I remember one was called London Bridge she had many other animals including geese, ducks, goats and angora rabbits. I used to love collecting the eggs with her.

I heard some sad news this morning someone I worked with in the late 70's has just passed away. Graham Stansfield was a very talented musician and used to programme the Classical festival as well as being head of music. When he was younger he was part of a rock pop group called Rare Bird which reached no 1 in Germany, He was known as Graham Field then
He was also in the Westminster Choir at the Queen's Coranation

Jane

Jane Report 21 Apr 2018 18:28

Anne , I have jut googled Graham Stansfield . What a talented man he was !!!!!!
I watched a video clip of him talking about his life works and hearing some of the music.
Clara Cluck Bucket :-D :-D. Is she one of your old girls Mel? I seem to remember the name .I love it :-D
Well I thought it was looking like rain earlier but then it cleared and brightened up again. It is still good. The traffic sounds from the A14 are very loud which is not a good sign. I think we might be forecast for rain and thunder overnight. Fingers crossed Tomas gets home before any of that.
Yes it is very disappointing that we can't be booked in to the same place as H&G . But we wont be too far away. Just a short taxi drive.
I have just seen the time !! 6.30 already. Chris will be asking soon when dinner is ready lol.I suppose i better make a start.

Evening all,

It's been another lovely day with just the right amount of heat for me ,we have been out in the garden doing a bit of clearing up near the shed .

That's good that Thomas turned up in the end , i wonder why he was so spaced out poor old boy perhaps he had to much sun .
Hope you've managed to get booked up some where to stay for the wedding ,shame you carn't all be together .
The table that Janice has made looks really pretty ,i love the recycled things as there's never another one the same , i should think it's a heavy table too as it looks like it has metal legs .

Mel are the baby fish big enough now that they won't be eaten by the big ones ?

You were up with the Lark this morning Frank ,it is the beat time of the day to get jobs done .
We've seen a lot of big bumblers and also had a huge wasp in the other day which i got to before Max spotted it .

We've spent most of the day in the garden. OH has planted all the early potatoes, and I've finished the strawberry patch!! OH rotovated the cage ready for veg later on. Did a load of washing, all dried outside and put away! :-D. Cas had a really good run in Merlin's paddock while he just went on grazing, so no problems with that. I think he regards her as part of the furniture!!
Cutting OH's hair tomorrow. We usually do it on a Sunday evening as we have lunch at about 2.30, which leaves the evening's free so tomorrow is the day! I haven't told him yet, but he'll be ok as now he's older it looks awful if it gets too long!!

Frank

Frank Report 22 Apr 2018 08:12

Good morning to you all,

I was up at 5.30 had two COT and been reading and going to yje loo. That Indian Curry last night was the more than HOT and hasn't agreed with me. !!!!

We sat in the lounge last night and there was the biggest flash of lightning though the back windows. No thunder and no rain. Just the one fiash, how strange was that.

I feed our fish yesterday. They have grown quite a lot since Ros introduced them to the pond.

Fresher sort of morning out there today, a nice breeze, which should keep us a bit cooler today.

Ros has run out of wallpaper, so she will have to go to B & Q to get another roll. Bit of a bind, as she only needs one bit. There might be a Roll that's undone, and she can pinch a bit off of that. lol lol

I must have twisted my back yesterday, as this morning it's giving me a lot of pain. I think my hip might have something to do with it also.

I will go and get the veg done for dinner tonight. Then he pitched is free for Ros and her decorating, when sh wakes and gets up.

Bunnyboo Report 22 Apr 2018 08:38

Goodness, we had a terrific storm here last night which lasted about half an hour! Poor Cass hated the lightening which at one stage was right overhead!! By the time we went to bed (10 pm) it had passed, although you could still see it in the distance! This morning it's bright but cloudy so Ian took Cas up in the paddock for a good run before Merlin gets out and about! They've just got back so breakfast is a bit late this morning! Not to worry as apart from the garden we're not doing anything!!
Frank with deepest respect but why eat things that you know disagree with you? I have one or two things these days that always lead to to indigestion and worse (!!) so I just avoid them sooner than give myself a tummy upset :-D
Coffee and rolls are beckoning, so enjoy your day one and all!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 22 Apr 2018 08:39

Morning all

Cloudy here today and cooler than it's been lately, it looks like we might get some rain.

OH is feeling a bit better after a few down days. I managed to arrange for him to see his brother tomorrow morning. I'm not sure if I want to see him, so will make my mind up when we're there. I'm going with him either way as I don't want him driving on his own.

Pleased to see Thomas came home safe and sound Jane. I wonder why he just sat there staring at the wall, hope he's okay now. I love the table your sister did, she's very clever.

Your girl has a great name Mel what made you call her that is there a reason behind it. Hope all the netting is on your pond now to keep the leaves off.

What a shame Ros ran out of wallpaper with only one piece left to do Frank. Good idea to just take a piece off the rolls in the shop, good job you are allowed to do that as wallpaper is quite expensive now.

It sounds like you've been busy in the garden Liz. Have you mentioned to your OH that you are cutting his hair today?

Sorry to hear about Graham Anne, he sounded a very talented man.

Just going to watch the Marathon now, I like that programme.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 22 Apr 2018 10:17

Oh yes Gill, he was informed at breakfast!! Actually he's quite happy for me to do it before it gets too out of hand!!
Glad you are feeling a bit better. I'm afraid these things do tend to knock the stuffing out of you for a while, just take it day by day and not rush anything.
I'm sitting in the sun on the veranda this morning taking it easy! The cage can wait till later!! Ian is busy fiddling in his workshop, I think he's going to weedkill later!

Frank

Frank Report 22 Apr 2018 11:21

Well I don't believe it. When Ros got up this morning she went into the kitchen and decided the paper she had put up round the windows, was too DARK. So she's gone to B & Q to find a lighter one. WOMEN :-0 :-0 :-0 (more expense) lol lol.

Vegetables all done also Yorkshire and Cheese sauce. I had a couple of slices of toast and marmalade after I finished in the kitchen. So I am sorted until dinner this evening.

Liz, I know what you are saying is very true. BUT I do like to try different things and flavours, even if I know I shouldn't. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gill, I couldn't bring myself to see meydad in the chapel of rest, and have regretted it for 60 years. When my mum passed away in 1980 I went to see her. How lovely and peaceful she looked. So, don't be afraid of going see your BIL. I am sure you will be fine, at the end of the day, you have to do what you feel comfortable with. xxx Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Thomas is a right little so and so. worrying you like that. I bet he was full up and found a nice sunny spot to sleep the day away. Bless him. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Well Liz, st least you won't have to water today. I know our dogs hated storms, and would go under the table in the dark. We really thought we were going to get the storm last night. It was promised in the forecast. They never seem to get it right.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 22 Apr 2018 12:15

I take your point Frank, trouble is when you get older, foods you love now have a tendency not to love you anymore, :-( can be a problem!!!
I've weeded the cage!! Well, we did it between us if I'm absolutely honest. What a job it was, but now Ian can rotovate it ready for green veg!
We're sitting on the veranda (again) this time with a cold drink, contemplating putting the ham in the slow cooker, potatoes and greens, followed by ice cream!! Nice and easy!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Apr 2018 12:17

Morning all,

We have clouds today but its still dry and qite bright.

Nothing planned for today so we will see how the day pans out.

Liz not like me then oh's was so long I had to cut it twice sort of to get rid of some of the length before I could do it properly.

The chicken that gets out is always called either Clara Cluck Bucket or Houdini. She actually looks like a Clara.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 22 Apr 2018 12:58

No Mel, not like that! Ian would hate his hair to get that long!! It's clouded up here now quite windy and cool! At least it's dry though which is a bonus!!
We've seen a swallow! first one of the year, hopefully the others follow soon!!

Frank

Frank Report 22 Apr 2018 14:15

Number FOUR son Jonathan has just been round to re-wire and connect the porch light switch. All good again now.

Ros boght a nice roll of paper, light grey/whitish background with twiggy trees in the patten. It's going up well, with only two more bits to hang. Then she can sit down, while I tidy the kitchen a bit, then get dinner a bit later.

I see MO FARRER came 3rd in the Marathan in a new British Record Time. I have so much admiration for all these people who enter, and raise so much money, for all the charities and good causes.

Sally is walking a Marathon during the night sometime in May. We have said we will sponsor her. Not sure as yet ,what/who she's doing it for, but a lot of the Medics at the Ambulance Stations are doing it as well.

The wind has dropped off a bit now, and here is a fair bit of cloud building, so we might get a drop of ain later.

Back to my book now. See you later.
