That's the thing with roses isn't it Mandy, hope you both weren't to badly scratched. OH noticed this morning on his way out that someone had either jumped or fallen on our hedge in the front and most of the middle of it was laying on the path in the street, he had to try and straighten it when he came home from seeing his brother. Good job we're thinking of having it taken out and a fence put there instead.

Glad the check up was ok Mel :-D
Mandy I do think that uping my new tablets have been helping but maybe today was just a blip. I just dont know. I just hope tomorrow will be better
:-D

These Wedding Cheese towers look good and in a way it makes sense to have one as as the Cheese will be eaten by all guests in the evening with biscuits and various Chutneys. It will be decorated like a wedding cake and Bride and groom will cut the biggest layer ,just like it was a 'cake'. Times have changed LOL No saving of a layer of cake for a Christening !!!

Good evening all

Sunny but chilly today I had to put the central heating on this morning for a short time but it did get warmer

Good news that you got good results from the dental check Mel.

Happy news for a change, a new Royal baby and nice that he has gone home already. I thought Princess Charlotte was so cute waving to everyone on the way to visit her Mum and new baby brother, Prince George always looks so serious bless him.

Poor you Jane with your back giving you a lot of discomfort I hope it eases up soon. I have never heard of a cheese tower wedding cake it will be lovely to see a photo of one, will each tier be a different cheese?

Gill I had to smile that your OH when seeing his brother for the last time put a cigarette in his pocket to go with his cup .Pleased to hear that he did stay with him for a while about visiting him. When Peter's Dad died at home we were actually in the room, his passing was so peaceful that I have no fear of dying.I saw Peter just after he had died, still in his room at the nursing home. The home had rung us earlier but we didn't manage to get there on time as he was in Windsor about 20 minutes from here so the last time we saw him alive was the evening before.

Good morning all,

I'm sorry about all the postings last night. It just wouldn't post. I bet i sat here for 10 minutes, trying every now and again. Hence 5 postings. I will delete 4 of them later.

Another nothing morning here, I will get Ros to leave the car in the "D" (Turning Area) then I might get the drive pressure washed. I will also get the hose down the bottom of the garden to fill the BIG BARREL. The guttering from the greenhouse has come away AGAIN. !!! I will mackle something up, so that the rain water goes into the barrel.

Another job for me is to put up the hooks to hang the "white board" behind the door. and hooks for our keys. The clock also needs to go up also the Spice rack. Th walls will be covered up with everything that needs to go up lol lol.

I expect Ros will be shopping later with Carolyn. That's when I can get started. What I don't get done today, I will try to do tomorrow. Back and knee allowing !!!!

Doing a grilled Sausage sarnie for breakfast, with a coffee. I will shower when I finish my jobs.

Enjoy your day ladies. xxx

Watched Camilla last night and we both thought what a lovely lady she is. She and Charles are obviously so happy together and wonderfully supportive of each other. The charity work and the Battersea dogs were fantastic. They imo make, and will make a grand team. No doubt we're out on a limb, but that's what we think!! Mind you I wasn't a great fan of Diana! Manipulative, self obsessed, Prima Donna comes to mind! Again just my opinion!
Dull old morning here, so a quiet day for us. Hope your back feels better Jane. Hot and cold packs seem to work, well, sort of!!!

Morning all

Another dull day but so far dry, OH and I are going to have another go at the kitchen today, we're hoping to do all the boxing in. It's a tricky job so I doubt we'll do anymore than that today, but at least it'll be another bit done and out of the way. We're just not in the mood to do much lately but the kitchen looks daft with two different types of doors and draw fronts on and all the bits we cut to size the other day are still all over the place waiting to be put in place, so that's our job for today. OH said he might cut the lawns later if it doesn't rain too.

It sounds like you have a few things to do as well today Frank, do be careful though won't you?

Hope you are feeling better today Jane. I'm thinking of you <3

Morning all,

dry here too this morning but dull and cloudy with it and a right miserable day. Just the sort of day you need when you have to go shopping.

Hope the back's feeling better this morning Jane, keep taking the tablets!!

Ros has got on well with the kitchen Frank. We'ed love to see a pic of it. Its ages since you sent us pictures. Now be carefull when you put those things back on the wall.

I have forgotton to post my aunts birthday card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!it was yesterday and I did'nt even ring her........

Today is my best friends birthday from Suffolk so I must ring her but shall leave it till later as she is always out. Funny thing that so is aunt Joy!! I shall still send the cards anyway.

Well a fall this morning has put paid to me doing anything now. !! I tripped on the rug in the lounge and went down like a sack of spuds. Feeling very shaky at th moment, so will sit and read. See how I feel later.

As you say Liz, we all have our opinions of things in life, which is GREAT. If we all thought alike, what a BORING life we would lead.

Naughty you Mel, forgetting your aunts card. smack hands for you my girl lol lol

I must look for A CHEESE TOWER on line. Just to see what they are like, and what sort of cheeses they use. I'm quite intrigued now. Silly old bu@@er. <3 <3 <3

OMG I have just Googled those cakes. Have you seen the price of some on them. The DORCHESTER is about 15 kilos and will be enough for 150/200 people.Coming in close to £300.00 Can you imagine a small wedding party. The Bride and Groom would be eating CHEESE for MONTHS AND MONTHS, so as not to waste it. I am smiling my head off here. Good jon I am on my own. LOL LOL

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Apr 2018 13:02

Yes Frank but you can have what ever size suits your wedding guests.

Just having some toast and cherry jam before heading out to the hsops. If I can get a parking space near the High St I shall pop into Specsavers and see if they can adjust my new specs as they keep moving down my nose.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 24 Apr 2018 13:37

Yes you can get them in different sizes to suit your numbers and purse!!
Frank, perhaps you should think about a walking aid to use when you are on your own? You could easily break something falling over and it could be hours before anyone found you.
Drizzling here now and not very warm!! Shopping tomorrow. We haven't been for over two weeks so it'll be quite a big list!!

Frank

Frank Report 24 Apr 2018 16:27

I have rested all afternoon with the fire on, heating on and a wool lined fleece on. I have just taken the fleece off as I was too warm. lol lol.

Yes Liz, I do try to use my stick when on my own, and if I remember it. I nearly went to bed this afternoon, but Ros wasn't in her car, so didn't have a door key, I didn't want to leave the front door unlocked, so stayed in the armchair.

Ros was home just after 3,00 pm. She is doing the veg for dinner tonight. She has bought two Lamb Shanks. Not that I feel hungry, but nothing new there. She wanted to ring the doctor to get me looked at, but I have an appointment on the 3rd May so will wait until then.

I did notice how small some of those cheeses were, I was just showing an example of what you can pay. !!! As I said I have never heard of them before Jane mentioned it yesterday.

Hope you had better weather for your shopping Mel, the we have had here. It has rained all day long.

Afternoon All
I see you came a right cropper again this morning Frank !!!. Hopefully no lasting damage. What are you like!! I think you need to get rid of any rugs. They can be a death trap for someone like you.It might be worth considering. I know when my sister had to go to peoples homes to assess their needs to help with mobilty etc, she would often say to get rid of rugs.

Gill, I am not surprised either of you feel like doing much just at the moment, but it seems you have plenty to do (as usual LOL ) .

Guess who finally arrived this morning? THE PLUMBER :-D :-D only 2 weeks late.
At least the water cylinder has now been serviced and all is well.

Frank, I think Wedding Cakes these days can be just as expensive as some of those Cheese Towers. I reckon for 100 people it will cost about £200. Many people dont like wedding cake with all that icing and sweetness. I think the cheese ,bisuits and chutneys will go down well in the evening. I was wondering if there might be somewhere to get some paper bags with the waxy lining so people can take some cheese away at the end of the night. There must be somewhere.

My back hasn't been half as bad today. I even managed to do the stair carpet :-D. Made my Meatloaf too and done a ton of washing . So a big improvement on yesterday :-D
It has rained all afternoon here :-S and not been to warm either. Thomas is getting into my bad books these days as he seems to be after the birds now :-( :-(
I caught him with a Chaffinch today and I know that is not the only little bird he has had as I keep finding feathers on the back door mat :-S :-S

Chris has just given me a little notepad to jot down some memories of things with Hannah growing up to help with his Father of the Bride Speech. WE still have 7 and and half months!!!! I can see he is going to be doing my head in with this :-S :-S. I have said not to keep on at me and I will just write things down as and when they come to mind and not to keep mithering me :-D

I saw on the news today about heartless people leaving Horses to die in dreadful circumstances. I say I saw ,but after the first pic i had to leave the room in tears. How can anyone be so bloody cruel. It makes me sooooooo mad.Now I cant get that pic out of my head :-| :-|.

I quite enjoyed Camilla last night. I think she has had too much bad press in the past. She and Charles were obviously always meant to be together. I think it is good now that both William and Harry get on really well with her.

So what do we think the new little Prince will be called? I reckon we might find out tomorrow or the next day :-D

Must get this Meatloaf in now.

Evening all,

Been raining here since lunch time ,we went to see Colin's sister this afternoon ,she looked so much better ,she had had her hair cut and washed and can move her arms so much more than the last time we saw her, she should have some Physio this week so fingers crossed it might help to get her legs moving .

Glad your back is a little easier today Jane , you can buy grease proof wedding cake bags on e bay and you could always buy the favour bags too and just pop the grease proof cake bag in one of those .
I saw the poor horse ,well the bit i saw was the headline of what was coming on so i didn't see all about it as we turned it off before it came on ,i just carn't bear to watch any thing like that .

Hope your not to sore after your fall Frank , that's the trouble with rugs you can soon catch your foot on the edge of them .

I'm going for James ,Alexander or Nicholas for the new baby Prince .

All been busy chatting away while I have been slogging in |Morrisons.

I went and got my specs sorted first but I still think they are too big on my face and they are making little groves in the side of my nose. She has adjusted them though and they son't slip down now.

My names fro the new little Price are Phillip, James, Charles and Arthur or Alexander like Mandy said. She will probably choose John or Edward but we shall all know soon.

I agree with getting rid of the mats Frank, they are nothing but a disaster waiting to happen. I can remember when I was young and we had mats down the hallway with a bit of lino on the edge and a small mat outside each door. I can't think what they were called now but I am sure they had a name and it was'nt Door Mat.
Was it a slip mat????? Says it all really.

Jane I'm glad your backs better today. It makes so much difference as to what you can do. My hip has been playing me up over the last two days. I think because I have to go up two fleights of stair to the dentists surgery and driving dos'nt help either.

Colin's sister is getting along well now Mandy. Jane always says she feels better too after a hair cut. I hope she carries on improving.

I am afraid I just can't take to Camilla but what I will say is her hair always looks nice. Reminds me of when I had that sort of hairstyle when my son was about 4 years old and that was the shortest I have ever had my hair.

Jane Report 24 Apr 2018 19:33

Mandy that must have been so good for OH and you seeing his Sister looking so much better today .It sounds as though she has come a long way.
Thanks for the info on the greaseproof bags :-D
I wonder how many people just could not bare to see those poor horses. Lots of us would have left the room . It was just so horrific . I feel for the RSPCA and Horse Rescue people who have to deal with such tragic cases . I bet they go home at the end of the day and sob their hearts out :-( and have sleepless nights .

I cant see the name Nicholas or James being chosen for the new Baby. I cant wait to hear though .
Looking forward to the new Drama tonight The Split.

Anne Report 24 Apr 2018 19:41

Those poor horses shown on the BBC news also had me in tears how can people be so heartless.

My favourite of the Queen's children is Anne plus she was the only one to visit her dad in hospital, I met her in the early 80's when she came to open the Wilde Theatre attached to the Arts Centre, I remember practising my curtsy as I was lucky enough to be presented to her, I was surprised to see how petite she was. She drove herself with one Lady in Waiting in the passenger seat and on the back seat was her shopping including a Debenhams bag .

Frank with all the falls you have had you are lucky nothing has been broken. When I was caring for Peter at home they advised me to take up the rug in the hall as it was a trip hazard.

Pleased to hear that your back isn't so painful today Jane. It seems you have passed it on to Mel. Naughty Thomas changing his menu to birds I hate it when my two kill birds.

Mandy that is good news that your SIL is looking better hopefully she will now continue to improve.

I thought of James for the new Baby or maybe Henry or John we will soon know

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 24 Apr 2018 19:53

Yes, when I worked in Care and had to do assessments for new clients, we always advised people to get rid of rugs, they can be dangerous. We had lots of recommendations, with footwear, stairs (!) lino on kitchen floors, all sorts!
We once rescued a pony in the same sort of state as the one on the news.. Poor thing had impacted colic through neglect and we nearly lost him him. Lots of walking, round the clock, the vet in and out day and night. It was a tremendous commitment and luckily he pulled through. We had him from the age of 8 months till he died at L's about 2 years ago aged 28!! I think people simply don't realise the cost, the work and the commitment involved in keeping a horse. They can live into their 30's and contrary to some people's belief they don't look after themselves! It doesn't make me cry, just makes me mad at the stupidity, ignorance and sometimes cruelty of people. If you find you can't keep an animal for whatever reason, either find it a home or have it put down, don't just abandon it!
Names for baby? Arthur or Albert! Wouldn't think Henry as that's Prince Harry's name!

Morning all

Sunny here today but not very warm yet. We had lots of rain yesterday so that's saved me a job of watering all my pots.

We're hoping to take Sandra back to Chester Zoo if the weather stays nice, I'll let her know about the baby elephant Liz.

Pleased to hear about Colin's sister Mandy, hope she carries on improving.

I didn't see those horses but it sounds awful. The poor things.

I was thinking Philip for the new baby's name, if not his first name then maybe a middle one. I wonder if we'll find out today.

How are you feeling today after your fall Frank. I think you should get rid of your rug incase you trip on it again. Like it's been said on here if you really hurt yourself you don't know how long you're going to be on your own for. Better to be safe than sorry.

I hope your back is still feeling better Jane. Don't over do things though or you might make it bad again. So Thomas is after the birds now? He likes to hunt doesn't he.

I've been sent some information for my family tree so I'm going to go through it while OH is out at his mates today. We didn't do much of the kitchen yesterday as they are awkward bits so we're taking our time to get it right. We might have another go at it tomorrow. At least we're getting things done, so it'll be finished at some point.
