Good morning Gill and all,
We had bright sunshine about 7.00 am when I got up, but now the clouds seem to be building.
Yes Mel "SLIP MATS" I remember just after the war my dad made the hall carpet, stair carpet, landing carpet, and slip mats for every door. I would hate to think the hours he sat there with his roll of canvas, the hook thingy and a piece of wood that he pushed against each roe to make sure it was tight. I had the job of winding the wool round a piece of wood with a grove down the side, then cut it with a sharp blade, so all the wool was the same length. That was then put in a bag for him o use as and when.
No ill effects from the fall yesterday, just my hip and back playing up. I expect I will be sent for an X RAY when I see the doctor next week, to see if my hip is alright.
I would love to get my hands on these so called "HORSE LOVERS" how of earth can they live with themselves doing that to an animal, it's the same with these abandon cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. I am sure the PDSA would arrange to have any animal collected and cared for or at worst have them put down. A lot of trouble in my mind is. A youngster pesters the parents for a pony, and as and when they get bored with it, this is when it's abandon. As Liz says they don't consider that they live so long and at times might need to be treated by the VET. and that means MONEY often they can't afford to pay.
Our little DYSON doesn't seem to be holding it's charge for long. Roa could go thought the bungalow on one charge now it's getting to two or three, especially if she hoovers round the ceiling after the spiders and cobwebs. It was only services three weeks ago. I hope it's not giving up on us. (MORE EXPENSE)
Ros will be painting more kitchen cabinet doors today round by the cooker. I will then have to pull of the boards around the bottom of the cabinets, so she can paint them, outside on a nice day.
I am going to try to get the big hose down the garden to water the greenhouse and fill the water butt.
I had better get going as the weather isn't looking to good. See you later.

Enjoy your lunch and the Film Jane. What are you going to see?
I just went out to fill up the bird feedxer in my cardi and it poured with rain. Oh was mowing out the front, I shot back inside and he came through the arch and headed for the lean to. Now the grass is too wet to mow and its stopped raining. A proper April Shower and then the sun came out again.
I have the docs this afternoon at 4.15pm. I have only just remembered so its good its a late appointment or I would have missed it.
I have piles of ironing to do so after my coffee I am going to do that.

We have had ABBIE next doors dog, while Tracy was at the charity shop where she helps out. About an hour ago we had the loudest THUNDER STORM I have heard in ages. The rain just hammered down for ten minutes. Poor little dog didn't know what to do. She jumped up on my lap and buried her head down the side of me. Bless her. !!!
Yes HAPPY BIRTHDAY Thread. xxx I meant to mention it this morning, but forgot. ;-) ;-
Jane. this place ASK what type of food do the serve. ?? We have been to an Italian close to the Guild Hall. Is that the same one. ??
I manages to fill the barrel this morning and water the greenhouse. I also mackled up the guttering from the greenhouse to the barrel. I just hope it works. It's got two chances. !!!
Tracy is back and just sat chasing with Ros over a COT She is working again tomorrow so we will have Abbie again. Her Mum and Dad would be back late tomorrow afternoon.
Shin of beef is in the oven.I sat in the lounge this morning doing the veg for tonight, as Ros was taking up the area I do the veg on, painting the doors. It's all looking good. I think she said she will give them a second coat tomorrow morning.
It's almost dark out now, so I have put on all the table lamps, and it's only just after 4.00 pm. :-( :-( :-(

Back home now just in time before the rain hits here,It is just starting. When we came out from the cinema we could see there had been an awful lot of rain. Probably what you had Frank. Poor Abbie. Did she get over the fright of the thunder?
Yes the Restaurant Ask is the one right opposite the Guildhall Frank( I think I said Town Hall earlier) It is Italian. I was sure you had been there a few years ago. We both had a lovely meal and so no more food for us tonight unless maybe a snack. I just have a Curry for James to pop in the oven later. I think I am going to get changed and slob out in my nightclothes now.I feel so full and my clothes feel tight :-S
There was a message on the phone from KGH about an upcoming appointment .They will try again tomorrow. I hope it isnt a cancellation ! I have one on the 2nd May with the Consultant Dermatologist and my MRI on 16th June .
Right ,clothes off and dressingown on now :-D

Evening all,
<3 <3 Happy Birthday Thread <3 <3
I don't think i've been on here from the start of the thread although i did join Genes in 2008 .
It's been raining here on and off since lunch time with the odd bit of hail thrown in too ,i also thought i heard some thunder a while ago .
Oh poor little Abbie Frank at least you gave her some comfort from the thunder . Do you think you might need a new battery for your Dyson if it's not holding the charge ,i suppose they only take the charge for so long .
Hope you got on ok at the doctors Mel ,what a good job you noticed it was today .
Not a lot happening here apart from going shopping and doing the usual chores it's been a quiet day.

I don't think there is any treatment. I just have to change my diet I think. She said cut down on salt and I like my cornish butter which is quite salty so I shall have to go off of that, boo hoo. Back to Utt Butt. No doubt Jane will tell me what I must'nt eat and its going to be bacon and ham I think. I always have a ham sandwich for lunch apart from sometimes egg mayo and tuna.

Morning all,
Sunny here too with big clouds in the sky. Guess where oh is? yes on his mower.
I am planning to finish my latest project today and maybe finish off one I started a while ago and only did the front. It needs a backing and a pin so if I do that it is two things to go in my box. I may then carry on with the fairy crown I started way back. I made the frame and covered it and thats as far as I got.
I also have to go to the post box to post a card.
Enjoy your haircut Liz.

Good Morning Liz and all. So you get summons to breakfast. Does she bang the GONG ??
Dinner was very nice last night, I ate most of mine, and Ros cleared her plate. When I finish on here I will see what we will have for tonight. A MANS work is never done lol lol
My darling wife is in the back garden, weeding the flower beds. I will go down to see if I can be any help later.
I am waiting for Tracy to bring Abbie round, as she is working again today. I will leave the conservatory door open when I go down the garden. She will be able to come and go as she likes. She loves being with Ros, and jumps on her when she's sitting on her little gardening stool.
Choir practice tonight, so HOME ALONE. with a choice of T.V. programmes. I will record her soaps for when she gets back.
Yes Jane, we have been to that restaurant with J & C a couple of times. If I remember right, they do a very nice menu.
I rang my sister last night. She was a Moorfield's Eye Hospital yesterday. There is nothing they can do to help with her sight. She's going blind. BUT they have recommended a company that make MAGNYFIED GLASS'S. Which they think will help her see the T.V . so that's a bit of good news. Something else I learnt last night. She has a PACE MAKER fitted and last week, she sat in the garden, in the sunshine and had a funny turn. Paul got her to the doctors, and the pace maker had been affected by the heat from the sun. :-| :-| :-| They say you learn something new each day. Did any of you know of this ??
Enjoy the day today, as tomorrow the forecast is RAIN AND WIND.
Will catch up with you all later. xxx

Afternoon Everyone
Frank ,I haven't heard of the sun /heat affecting a pacemaker. Maybe it was just a bit of a turn she had after having it put in. Fitz had a great deal of help form the peole from the RNIB (I think those are the right letters) Institute for the Blind for his Mother so it might be worth your Sisters brother getting in tough with them Frank. Fitz couldnt praise them enough.
Mel , Spinach and Broccoli are I think High in Iron. You can always google and find a list of foods high in it.I didnt know eggs were too.You will be giving more away !!
Liz, I always feel much better after a good hair cut. How often do you have yours cut? mine is every 5 weeks.
The wind seems to be picking up here .It has been a lovely afternoon. Loads more washing dried today. I dont think I will be putting any out tomorrow if the forecast is correct.
Now I am going ot sit down and watch the DIY Chateux programme. I have become quite a fan of this one :-D

Hi everyone,
Tracy b bought round just after 11,00 am She went straight down the garden to Ros and stayed with her until Tracy came home at 1.30. She heard the car full up and stated to bark. Roa stayed out weeding until after 4.00 pm. She finally came in and I made her a COT. she has got herself showered and changed ready for going out tonight.
I have just finished reading another book. "Lady under the Ice" it was another of those books the you don't want to put down..
Ribs in BBQ sauce tonight, with new potato's, brussels, roasted onions and Garlic mushrooms. Should all be ready for 5.45/6.00 pm. It will give Ros a chance to sit down for a while before going out.
The Chateaux prog. is quite good isn't it Jane. He is one of the HUNGRY SAILORS Can't think of his name.
Short back and sides then Liz, lol lol. That was always the haircut we had as children. We hated it, but in meant not having to spend out on haircuts for the three of us , to often. We did try cutting each others hair once, and ended up wearing BALACLAVAS in the summer while the hair grew back. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Mel, I think hat was what my son Simon had/has. He had to go to hospital every week to have blood taken, and thrown away. He's not having to go at the moment, as he has a 10 week break.
Well I had better see about the dinner.

I have my hair cut usually about every six weeks Jane, this time though it's been much longer because of my wretched sciatica!! My usual young lady has l left and gone to pastures new, so I had a different one and she was very good so I shall have her again!! Lunch was the excellent and now no supper!! Hooray!! We're great fans of the Chateau programme too, I just love Angel!!

Frank, I thought the chap with the BIG Moustache was familiar. He did that other programme with his Son I think. He is quite an amazing man isn't he. He has so much energy and never stops. Any more dog sitting to do? You have had quite a few little friends just lately :-D.
When will we know the name of the new little Prince??? They are taking their time in letting us all know . I see Donald Trump is coming here on FRIDAY 13th June :-S. I cant see the public out in hordes to greet him.Probably more like protests. I went back to Morrisons this morning to get 2 more Rib Eye Steaks. If they are stil as good as last weeks ones I can see it being a regular shop for me.I bought a Sourdough Pave bread there too which has to be one of the best Sourdoughs I have had.I only eat Sourdough Bread as it doesn't upset my tum.
The sky has been really blue BUT there look to be some pretty big stormy looking clouds out the on the horizon. Not sure if they are heading this way or not. Need to get my apron on . James is home and Hank Marvin .

I just love programs with Dick Strawbridge, either his cooking ones or the Chateau ones whether its his Chateau or the DIY ones. I was dying to see if there was anything left of the armour but was very disappointed when they came up with nothing. I would have thought if it had been in the lake for 70 odd years it would have rusted away.
I have been watching the DIY Chateau on catchup and still have a couple to see.
Bet Sandra is getting excited for Saturday Gill.
