Afternoon all

Bright and sunny here and boy is it hot. OH and I have been in the garden this morning creating a new border and moving the grass over to the other side of the garden where we need some. We do like to recycle where ever possible.

Sandra's elbow is okay but her back is sore, she managed to get a decent nights sleep and I've put some Voltarol cream on her back which seems to have helped. She used my hot water bottle earlier as she said the warmth helped and then lay down on my bed to watch I programme I recorded for her. The Voltarol has worked so the pain has eased for her now. She's just going to take it easy for a while until it's healed.

Going to dish up lunch now then go back in the garden to finish making the new border.

Afternoon all,

Oh no poor Sandra taking a tumble in the garden ,she's going to be sore for a few days ,i expect she pulled some muscles when she fell but thank goodness she didn't break any bones , these things happen so quickly ,give her my love Gill <3

Lovely day here we have been sitting outside with the family the girls had the roller skates out ,Katie is getting quite good at it but Lacey keeps going down and gets angry that she carn't do it like Katie :-D

Gammon is all cooked and cooling in the fridge just a few spuds and salad to do so nice and easy .

Rose bushes are lethal with their thorns Mel ,i caught my arms a few times i mine when i was out in the front garden ,that's good that OH has sorted yours out for you , my Nannies rose as i call it only flowers the once and like yours Mel the scent from it is to die for.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 May 2018 16:11

When I came in from cleaning the chicken s out this morning oh had taken down nearly all of the rose bush. I don't know if whats up the hedge will grow or die now I shall have to just wait and see. Its so hot out there I am indoors at the moment as its much cooler in here.

Oh is looking for the extention bar for the hedge trimmer and can't find it anywhere. I had a lok around his garage but I can't find it either. He had already looked in there so now I have told him to look up the caravan. I do wish he would lern to put things back where he got them from after using them. He never does. I found one of my screwdrivers mum bought me the other day left out in the rain and all rusty after he had asked me for it last year!! I think it is beyond repair as all the crome has come off and its very very rusty.

He needs a man servant to follow him around and tidy up for him.

Bunnyboo Report 6 May 2018 16:59

I think a lot of men are like that Mel!! While Ian is very good about the place, cooking, getting in washing, walking Cas etc, tidying up is not his strong point!! things get left out when he makes a meal, COT, his coat is always left on the back of a chair, dog lead on the floor, garden tools?!!! trouble is I tidy and then get accused of hiding things!!! Mind you, he gets a real ticking off when he makes those sorts of accusations, so he doesn't do it very much anymore!!
We've had a lovely day, just pickling about! I bought a pair of single handed clippers to take the place of my old pair which are now past it. They seem ok so should make life easier.
Cooking beef for supper, new potatoes and sweetheart cabbage! The potatoes we planted are beginning to show, the apple blossom is fantastic and both swallows are on the nest in Merlins stable! All is well, for the minute!!

Afternoon All
I am sorry to see that Sandra had that nasty tumble yesterday Gill and is a bit battered and bruised. :-(. I expect she will hurt for a few days yet poor girl. At least the Voltarol Rub is doing the trick on her back.

I have spent most of the day lying on the bed as I seem to be hurting all over :-S and walking has been so painful. So I shall be back there again soon I think. I dont have any pain when I am lying down.

I will ask James to do the dinner. It is only Burgers, Chips and Peas and Asparagus .

Tell Lacey practice will make perfect Mandy on her skates :-D. I hope she hasnt got any scraped knees or hands. I am just remembering my old skates. Those metal ones with the leather lace up bit over the toes. Then when Dad fitted the skates to the right size they would suddenly become loose and get bigger making my feet slip out :-S. They made a right racket too going down the road lol.

I am signing out now until tomorrow.Toodlepip.

MillymollyAmanda Report 6 May 2018 18:48

Sorry to hear you've had a day of pain Jane ,sounds as if bed is the best place for you ,i hope you feel better tomorrow <3

Lacey thinks she should be able to just put the skates on and go LOL she's ok if she holds on to your hand and walk along but you have to watch your feet as she slips and goes sideways .
My skates had a slider underneath that you slid along and lengthened the skates as your feet got bigger :-D not that i wore them for long as balance wasn't my strong point and i didn't do much better with the Hula Hoop either :-D :-D

Lovely sunny evening here not a cloud in the sky .

Bunnyboo Report 6 May 2018 18:59

Oh dear Jane, I'm sorry to hear about your back. Are you down to have any treatment or an MRI to try and get to the bottom of the problem? I have to say that my trapped nerve is a bit up and down. I find a cold pack helps, and sitting is fairly ok. Standing for any length of time is quite difficult and walking can be a challenge!! I'm hoping to get some physiotherapy fairly soon. Hopefully it'll do some good!
We've just watched Dick and Angel putting a lift into the Chateau!! What a job!!
I was hopeless at any skating Mandy, but I once won a bottle of champagne hula hooping! It was a very long time ago!!
Woman in White tonight. :-D

Poor you Jane there's nothing worse than lying on the bed on a nice day thinking of all the things you should be doing. I hope you feel better tomorrow and are able to get about a bit.

Well I ache in my hands especially my right one with all the cutting down we have been doing. I feel completely worn out and am glad I made sausage rolls while he was in the shower yesterday as they will do for tea. I left him three under the glass dome and he ate those this morning but he dos'nt know I have more so its scotch eggs, sausage rolls and grapes and walnuts and maybe ice cream as a treat with sprinkles.

I had those skates that you cold adjust by sliding them out and then doing up a fly nut I think underneath. The leather tops on mine were sort of greeny grey. All my friends ones were brown leather. I loved my skates. My dad taught me to skate at Jaywick which was just up the beach from St Osyths where we had the caravan on the beach. we were there every weekend during the summer and into the Autumn. Every Saturday night at the skating rink you could get an hour and a half for the price of an hour if you were the last ones going in that day.

Must get the tea ready.

Morning All
Liz I will try the Ice today.I am just going over to Rushden Lakes shops to the M&S there. I am certainly more mobile than I was yesterday. But I expect I might just need that ice pack by the time I get home again :-D

I have a sweet little video clip of a new baby calf from Gareth and another of Canada Geese taking their babies to the lake. What beautiful countryside !
I noticed in the calf video that Gareths and his Mums hands look like they are covered in cow muck :-S

Anne I hope Richard will be able to open the clips for you as I know you have a problem seeing them.

I hope Sandra is less sore today Gill. She will love these clips from Gareth.

See you all later

Morning Jane and all,

Another beautiful day here.

What a dear little calf Jane and so nice to see in a video. Oh said it looked like a bull calf, what was it? We get the Canada Geese down on the lake at the big house and they fly over our garden. They make a dreadful row with their honking.

Oh found a tent in the garage and put it up on the lawn to make sure everything was there and he took it over to the boys so they could play in it.

I have hoovered through this morning and just need to do the kitchen area and then its all done. Found more cobwebs. Will they never end?

Have emailed you Jane. Another beautiful morning. Ian has done some strimming, while I've hung washing and generally tidied up. That's it for today! Cas has her bath out and has been sitting in it with her ring keeping cool! cold beef for lunch and supper. A lazy day here!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 May 2018 12:51

How completely sensless and self centered can you get. A neighbour has lit a bonefire on the nicest day of the year when everyone (except them ) has their windows and doors open and washing on the lines. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Jane

Jane Report 7 May 2018 13:46

Sorry you couldn't seee the Calf Liz.It was so cute :-D Mel I dont know if it was a he or she.
I bet Cas was so cool sitting in her bath :-D. I wish we had a paddling pool still and I could sit in that :-D :-D. Next door has an outdoor swimming pool but it is never used. Many years ago when the old neighbours lived there the man would have a swim every morning around 7.30.They let us use it in the summer when they were away.

Mel who has the bonfire. Is it the big house? I didnt think there was anyone else close to you. The boys will enjoy having your old tent to play in :-D
Our 2 used to have camping nights out in the garden .One night it would be Hannah and her friends and another night it would be the boys. They would have a little camp fire and have great fun. I dont think any of them ever got much sleep (if any). The good thing was they were far enough away from the house so we didn't get disturbed .

This lovely sunshine got me remembering my Mum. She would be out there with her skirt all pulled up so she could get as much sun on her legs as possible .Even when she was in the Care Home aged 84 she could be found outside with her legs out soaking up the sun :-D She had the kind of skin that turned really brown. I wish I did.
My legs will always be lily white :-S

Chris saw our neighbour out the front earlier and Al said Thomas had just come over the fence in their back garden with a Rabbit in his mouth !!He also said they are always finding remains LOL At least that is in the field bit behind the formal bit of back garden.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 May 2018 15:44

I wonder what Thomas would do if there were no bunnies left to eat? Go on to only mice.

Jane not the big house but at the top of our roadway onto the village hall carpark there is a house there and one next door and I think it is that one.

It's been a lot hotter today so we've had another lazy day here just pickling ( i do like that word Liz ) :-D around ,i have given my pots a little water and put the hoover round just so as i can say i have done some thing :-D it's just been to warm to do to much .

Glad your a bit more mobile today Jane .
What beautiful scenery in the video clip with the geese where did you say Gareth's family live ? every where looks so lovely and green .
I love the baby calf he had some huge eyes and long eye lashes .

Is the bonfire out now Mel ? ,that's always the case when the weather is nice ,bonfires get lit and all the smoke drifts on the breeze and stinks you out .
I bet the boys loved the tent and have spent the day in it :-D

Some one is coming to look at the van tomorrow ,if Colin will part with it :-D

Have just come in from the garden. Oh has built a platform on the big trailer and put the tree cutting steps on it so he can get to the top of the box hedge. We now have our path back after taking the big rose out and a cotoniaster (sp) that had both grown over the path.

I have dug out 6 brambles plus roots and pulled up a load of ivy. Now my hands hurt and I am knackered. Hav'nt got anyhing for dinner so it could be toasted cheese sandwiches for oh and a boiled egg for me.

Anne

Anne Report 7 May 2018 20:00

Good evening like every one we have had a scorching hot day even hotter than yesterday. We have been in the garden I have been weeding and Richard has been cutting back some trees and shrubs but had to give up at about midday because of the heat.

Jane I did manage to see your pictures of that dear little calf and the Canada geese, we get them on South Hill park front lake but not on the back one which is a bit more enclosed. I hope you have been feeling less achy today.

How is Sandra today Gill it must have shaken her up having that nasty fall.

Paul and Abbie are in Cornwall for a few days both visiting friends

I can remember my roller skates from when I was about ten I thought it might be a good idea to hitch a skipping rope to my brother's pedal car and go hell for leather down the pavement which was on a slope and all did not end well as you can imagine needless to say got no sympathy from my mother.

Ruby has found a new game, she loves to run through the water when the hose is on.

I hope Ros and Frank are enjoying themselves in Hastings it could be a little bit cooler there with breeze coming off from the sea, it's this time of the year I really miss it. We only left because of the work situation and as Peter's Uncle lived here we saw how much money he could earn we managed ok when we were both working but when we had Mark our income was halved and financially it was a real struggle. Paul and Richard were both born here at home so this is local to them.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 May 2018 21:04

I do miss Frank. I hope they have both had a great time down in Hastings.

Guess what? They lit the bonfire again and the smoke is just hanging over the gardens to the right of it so I hope Em has'nt had her windows open this evening. If its not bonfires its stinking burning bar b q's.

Just going to feed the hedgehogs and shut the chickens in then I am in for the rest of the evening. Oh has gone to bed...........
