Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 May 2018 09:11

Morning all,

Lots of you up and early on here this morning on this lovely sunny day for the first of the month.

Thinking of Gill and family this morning too. I hope she feels better today.

Not been out yet so I can't say if its still windy or not or if it is whether it is a chilly one or not. Oh is out there doing something and thank goodness he has taken the fertilizer out of the car boot and left it open as it stunk the car out when I drove home.

Shopping day and I may go off early so as to get back to do a bit in the garden.

Lovely morning here, washing on the line!!! Hope today isn't too stressful Gill, I'm sure everyone will be thinking of you.
Today we pick up our car, so OH is hoovering out the Freelander and giving it a bit of a wash as we don't like to hand it over looking too dirty and unkempt!! The tax on the Fiat is £30 a year which the garage has allowed us!! can't be bad!!! First MOT isn't due till September, so all in all we feel pretty chuffed!
Gardening this morning, grooming Cas and brushing her teeth - never a dull moment!!

Afternoon All
Frank, what a great name for the new puppy :-D. I dont think I have known a dog called Larry before.9 weeks old ! I bet he is up to all sorts of mischief lol
I thought my Larry looked and sounded great on the TV last night. Yes Anne you were right it was him :-D.He was actually given the opportunity to have a ride in that helocopter so he could see the reserve from high up,but Larry has a lot of trouble with travel sickness so had to decline even though he would have loved to have done it.

Mel, I wonder if each time you have to have your blood taken now you might be able to ask for a Burretfly as that seems the easiest way of getting your blood. How are the bruises today?

I expect Liz and Ian have the new car now and might be having a spin :-D

Well I have just soaked my feet and given my toenails a good clipping and the same with my fingernails ready for the Dermatolgist tomorrow. I have had to look up on the computer to see exactly where I need to go as my other appointments were at the Private Hospital . It looks fairly straightforward. Chris will take me and drop me off and then I will just message him when I am finished.

I hope all went ok today Gill. <3

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 1 May 2018 17:04

Yes the car is here!! :-D. I've been taken for a spin, but tomorrow I have to get our pills so I shall venture out then! We are going to have to have another dog cage or a dog guard to keep Cas safely in the back. The old one doesn't fit and we both prefer her right in the back and out of the way. Millie had a safety harness which she wore in the car so if all else fails we shall get Cas one of these!
Still cold here, but dry for the time being! Easy meal with rice for us tonight, so not too much work!!

Anne

Anne Report 1 May 2018 17:24

Hope all went well for the funeral Gill and the weather was kind and you are feeling better.

Have you given the new car a name Liz? Amy always had a doggie seat belt in the back of our car. I hope you both enjoy driving it.

Mel I am the same as you when giving blood and always have a butterfly clip now even so only one phlebotomist at the surgery can manage it. Only my right arm can be used as the lymph glands have been removed from my left arm.

Chicken Kievs, runner beans, new potatoes, peas & sweetcorn for us tonight.

Jane

Jane Report 1 May 2018 18:40

So your turn tomorrow to drive the car Liz. It sounds like you are both happy with it.
I didnt have a cage for the dog but a Harness attached to the seat belt.Hopefully you will find a cage that fits .

Your meal sounds nice Anne. I have Steak Hache, Sweet Potato Chips, and a big oven tray of Peppers,Mushrooms,Red Onion and Asparagus. Still havent heard what time James will be home :-S

Gillx Report 1 May 2018 20:25

Not long got back from the funeral. I woke feeling a little queasy but took an Alka Seltzer and had a couple of pieces of dry toast which seemed to help, so we all went to the funeral together. It was a lovely service OH held it all together until they played "You'll never walk alone"

BIL was a big Liverpool football fan, poor OH burst into tears, he said he was okay until he heard that song. We then went to the cemetery and everyone was brilliant not rushing anyone and saying we could all stay by the graveside for as long as we wanted. A few of us went over to OH's dad's grave which wasn't that far away from his brother's and put some flowers on his grave too.

We then went to the wake. Michelle had turned up to the funeral and we had a good chat with her for a few hours which was nice, then on the way home we went back to the cemetery to put one red rose on BIL's grave and have a few minutes just the three of us.

The weather was dry and didn't rain until we came home which was good as it was forecast to pour down around the time of the burial. So all in all the day was very touching and like I said the service was lovely.

BIL's daughter had written a few words but was a bit nervous at reading it out herself so the vicar did it for her while she stood to the side of him. She had written some lovely words about her dad.

I still haven't caught up with the post but did notice your kind words, thank you. We're just having something to eat now then we'll settle down for the rest of the evening. We're all very tired, so I think an early night might be on the cards.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 May 2018 21:50

That was very nice to have everything go off ok. I can understand how oh felt when he heard the song Gill. It must have been nice to see Michelle too and glad you had a good natter.

Changed my glasses frames today I just have to pick them up next week but because its a bank holiday they may not be ready till Wednesday but Lily said she would ring me if she could get them through quickly.

I have told the nurses at the docotors that it is easy with a buterfly but Maria said we don't like to use them if we don't have to!!!! I felt like saying but you know you have to with me.

Frank Report 2 May 2018 10:33

Good morning to you all,

It's filthy morning here again. VERY STRONG WIND and raining like mad.

There is only one place to be today, and it won't be going out. !!

So you are all set up with new wheels then Liz. Is it a hatchback or an estate. ??

Roa bought me two new pairs of trousers yesterday, as though I haven't got enough lol lol. I can see I will have to have a sort out of trousers also my shirts, I must have 60 or more, and still she keeps asking if I want more shirts for my holiday. :-P :-P :-P

I watched that Tom Kerridge last night, what an enjoyable prog. it is. The winner last night was a South African who does a beef something or other, and uses old milking cows, which is useful as they are normally not any good at the end of their milking life.

I spent best part of two hours on the computer trying to get into my BT account. The password or security answer is not recognised. I was on the chat line and got cut off TWICE. So I gave it up as a bad job.

I'm pleased everything went well for you yesterday Gill. Funerals are never a happy place to be. When your emotions are high, it doesn't take much to set you off crying. I have been giving it some thought about what songs I would like when I go. There are three or four i particularly like, so will have to make a note of them. MORBID OR WHAT ;-) ;-) ;-)

One of the pairs of trousers are to big 33" leg instead of 31" so she's taking them back as Carolyn has to take back the she bought for John.

I think the weather is going to improve for the weekend, I hope so or I will need a SYTHE to cut the lawns. They are growing so quickly in this weather.

Minted Lamb leg steaks for tonight, with Jersey Royals and various veg.

Try to stay dry if you are going out. :-| :-| :-|

Morning Frank and all,

We have sunshine and showers. At the moment we have some blue sky with whitish grey big clouds floating past.

There's quite a wind too but Iv'e not been out yet. I had a lie in after yesterdays shopping etc.

Washing machines on and I am having a cuppa then I shall get the meat on for a steak and kidney pie tonight with tendertream broccoli and carrots and new pots. I have even bought the pastry sheet to go on the top. Naughty but quick.

Just back from Waitrose, and I drove home! It's a nippy little car (a hatchback Frank) and easy to drive and park!! It's going to suit us down to the ground as we don't do the mileage these days and it'll certainly cut our motoring costs!!
Nothing much else happening here today!

Frank

Frank Report 2 May 2018 13:17

Well it's stopped raining as last. I have been reading this morning. Just had an Oxtail soup with some bread.

Madam is still out with Carolyn, so I don't know where they might have gone. Time means nothing to them once they are out.

Glad the car is fit for your requirements Liz, What model did you get ??

Our little Mercedes is 04 plate and we have had it for 11 years. It's still only done 65,000 miles, and in very good condition. It's not worth a song now, but it will be worth a lot more to us, so we will run it until it packs up. IF EVER. !!!

The sun is out now, and quite warm. Lets hope we have seen the last of the rain for a few days.

Gillx Report 2 May 2018 13:32

Afternoon all

Sunny here after some rain this morning, although the wind is picking up now.

It sounds like you're very pleased with your new car Liz. I prefer hatchbacks I think you can get more in the boot. I've not driven our new car yet, not sure if I will as it's very big and to be honest I don't think I'd be able to see over the dashboard properly and I don't fancy a booster seat lol.

I've never been able to use my BT password ever since I started with them Frank. Luckily they didn't get rid of my old email account with another company, so I can still use it. I hope you managed to sort the problem out, I know what you mean about trying to talk with them. I never managed to sort the problem out with them so gave up in the end. I don't mind so long as I have a router and an email address I can use. Not being able to get onto my BT account doesn't bother me anymore.

I finally bought my tomato plants and have planted them into bigger pots today so they're in the greenhouse now. I also bought some more Anemone's so they should be in flower in the summer and Autumn just after the spring ones have died back.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 May 2018 15:50

Its still sunny here today. There are two lots of washing on the line and I made the chicken fence higher this morning as when I came home yesterday there were three chickens out in the garden and I had driven down the drive to the arch and there was the fox standing on the road as I came down. He did look a bit tatty and mangy looking. I tooted my horn and he went over into next doors field which runs down the side of our property.

I still hav'nt got any tom plants Gill. When I looked at them in the garden center on Monday they were disgusting.

Did lunch and then washed up and cleaned all around the sink and the window above it. All nice and clean now with 4 more windows to go. I was planning another go at the bathroom today but thats gone by the ball now. It will still be there tomorrow.

Afternoon Everyone
What a morning we had with the rain!. It was just dreadful. Chris got me to as near the outpatients entrance as possible so I didnt get too wet. The Consultant was very pleased with how my Psoriasis has done and continues to improve. I have to have a blod test done in the next few days.A fasting one. So I need to make an appointment for that .Then my next appointment will be in 6 months. I will have to continue woth these tablets for a long time :-S and be recalled every three months for blood tests. He was concerened about my Cholesterol level and suggested I might see the GP about Statins :-S. But I am not keen to do that as I hear so many people saying that they have too many side effects sometimes. I think I have enough of them at the moment with the pills I am taking. They could even be the cause of my raised Cholesterol levels.

Gill, I am so glad that you were able to see Michelle yesterday and have a nice long time to chat . I am not suprised that OH was affected by that song. I expect many others had some tears at that one. I am glad too that you felt well enough to go with OH and I am sure he was pleased too.

So a nice little nippy car Liz :-D It sounds perfect for you both and so much cheaper to run too :-D

Mel I think it sounds like you have done ok with weather today. Lucky you :-D
Tomorrow hopefully will be ok here. I think it could be. Fitz is coming for lunch again so it would be nice if we could all sit outside.

Did anyone watch that programme last night My f******* Tourettes Family? 2 yound brothers with Tourettes!. I thought the parents were just amazing .It is well worth a watch as long as you can deal with the language that the boys come out with . I think the more the public are aware of this condition the better.

Oh my !!!! The sun is out :-D :-D Lots of blue sky now. Bit late in the day though.
Sroganoff for us tonight. I had a lot of steak which I divided into two lots (one in the freezer now).I shall bulk out tonights with a load of sliced Mushrooms :-D

Chris has felt really weary today and had to go for a sleep this afternoon. He is up now but I can hear him yawing his head off still LOL

Evening all,

Suns out here now ,it's been raining since about ten this morning .

Colin's brother came this morning to do our dripping cold tap in the kitchen ,we have a mixer tap with levers ,he tried all the spare inners he had with him and none were the right ones so he's put a hot water one in for now but i have to now turn the lever the other way it does seem strange ,he'll get the right bit and come back and do it some time .

That was good you felt better yesterday Gill so you could go and support your OH and say your good byes together ,it must have been nice to see Michelle and have a good chat i expect Sandra was pleased to see her sister .

So the fox is still about then Mel you don't want him near your girls.
Well my tomato seeds are coming up but the only trouble is all the labels i wrote out and stuck in the pots all the writing has gone off the label !!!!! i think it was the pen i used i thought it was a marker pen and it wasn't , now i have pots with three different tomato seeds in and i don't know which is which .
The mini Cucumber seeds in the pots are through and have two little leaves on ,the bigger Cucumber seeds haven't appeared yet .

That's good the Consultant was pleased with how your coming along Jane you must be pleased too .
Statins were mentioned to me too last time i went to see the nurse but i wasn't to keen to start on them either .
Yes i saw the programme about the boys with Tourettes ,what a nice family they are ,I did feel for them in the hotel restaurant though but i thought it was nice that the people they were sitting near in the train asked if they could giggle with them .

Glad you got on ok with the new car Liz , i try to find a nice quiet road to have a first drive when we change the car .

Bunnyboo Report 2 May 2018 19:06

Nice sunny evening here and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!!
Good news about your hands Jane! I've been on Statins for years now with no ill effects at all. OH is on Aborvastatin one a day (that's the only meds he takes) as the Simvastatin that I'm on didn't suit him, but he's fine on these. I take two separate BP tablets as well once a day, as well as the 'bone. Pill' once a week. Oh and Adcal drink once a day, again for bones!!
We've ordered a cage for Cas, which should be here tomorrow. We did think of getting a seat belt harness like we had for Millie, but it made the seats so dirty and 'doggy' even with a blanket over them, so we've decided on a cage.
L rang this afternoon, it was lovely hearing from her. She's got a weekender(dog, four nights!) this coming weekend! What with that and their business, working two morning's a week at the local doctors surgery, dog sitting, three teenagers, (well Edward is nearly 11!) two horses, two dogs of her own, three cats and some chickens, her life is pretty full!! At least the rabbits are no more, thank goodness!! I don't know where she gets her energy from - not me that's for certain!!!

Good morning fair Maidens, xx,

What a lovely change to wake up to a nice dry and sunny day and without ha wind.

Ros is at "Stitchery Do" this morning, then onto get her nails done. She needs them doing after all the hard work in the kitchen. We finally finished the kitchen yesterday. Now for putting all the tools back in the garage.

I would like to think I will get one of the lawns done today. Doing both in a day just seems to Bu@@er me up.

I walked to the pub last night and who should be sitting there. TONY. He said he has had this chest infection, and on Monday he thought he was going to die. He was fighting for his breath, and didn't think he would make it. He was drinking TONIC WATER, so he's not quite ready for a pint. !!!! They are off on Sunday for a week on a coach trip to the ISLE OF WHITE. It should be nice if the weather holds. I use to take my children there when they were young.

Yes Liz, a cage seems a better idea, no matter how you try to cover seats, they still have that "DOGGY" smell about them.

Drs. this afternoon at 4.00 pm. I am expecting her to send me for an X RAY on my right hip. It seems to be giving me a lot of trouble getting around. I hope i's not going to end up with an operation. !!!

What a lovely surprise I have just had. JOHN rang to invite us to HASTINGS tomorrow until Tuesday. There is a festival on over the weekend "JACK IN THE GREEN" whatever that might be. If this weather holds it will be great.

This morning I booked a table for Lunch on Sunday. That will have to be cancelled now.

Catchup with you later. xx
