Anne Report 9 May 2018 20:38

Good evening all

The internet was down all day yesterday, so haven't been able to catch up on all of the posts yet

Still warm again so will have the electric fan on in the bedroom again.

I had a cold call the other day saying my gas boiler needed to be changed, I replied that it is covered by British Gas to which the reply was that's who we are. I put the phone down and dialled 1471 and it was from a withheld number. We have put a stop on cold calls but do still get them although not so many.

Two of my BIL's have had operations today, Derrick the husband of Peter's youngest sister has had a hip replacement in The Conquest Hospital, Hastings and Tony one of his brothers who has bowel cancer had keyhole surgery to remove part of the bowel in Surrey his Op took over 4 hours but fortunately won't have to have a ileostomy bag which he was dreading.

Sorry that your trip to Hastings Frank was spoilt by Tony's bad behaviour what part of Hastings were you staying?.

Poor bantams Mel being frightened by Zac

Still got this virus and feel really under the weather so might not be on here for a while. I've got a terrible cough and have pulled a muscle in my chest with all the coughing.
Sandra's back is much better today though, so that's good.

I haven't caught up with the posts so hope everyone is okay.

Good morning all,

Another pleasant morning after the drop of rain. I got out at 3.30 and it was raining then.

We had a surprise call last night. "BIGGLES" Mum. Could we have him today, as they were going out and didn't want to leave him alone all day. He's lying in front of Ros. waiting for a fuss. !!!

Jane that was an unusual place to find a difibulator, as already mentioned, you would remember where you saw it. ;-) ;-)

Regards to your "FRIEND" you could go to a charity shop and fit him up with a bag of cloths for a "TENNER" I would imagine he would be grateful rather than embarrassed .
Anne, I hope both your BILs. recover soon from their operations. I know a Hip replacement seems to be a regular operation. The other is serious as we all know. But the treatment out there now is combatting this terrible thing.

Ros has the ironing board up,and is ironing the sheets and pillow cases, to give back to Carolyn. She has some bits of ours to do as well.

Well last nights dinner was a disaster, in as much, that neither of us were hungry. I suppose being STARVED all weekend, we were not ready for a blow out lol. lol.

I will check the lawn later, and if dry enough will get the front lawn cut. Tony and Val are away in the Isle of White until next Sunday. DO I cut his front lawn or not. Knowing that he won't do mine, while I am away. ??

Good old GRANDDAD, Mandy. Shelling out for Lewis's outfit. He (Lewis) will be as proud as a Peacock, going off to his first day at school, in his new uniform. xxx

Shower and shave now, then see about a bit of breakfast.

See you all soon.

Morning all,

Today the sun is out a bit but there's a lot of white and grey clouds in the sky.

I had to chuckle about the story of the defib machine outside the funeral parlour but as Mandy said you won't forget where it was if its needed. We have one outside the shop in Shebbear and next door to that is the doctors.

That sounds like some party to go to Frank. Lots of people to cater for but the house and gardens sound so nice it will be interesting to see. Sorry the meal was'nt really a success but I think you worked too hard. We had cold pork egg chips and peas last night so nice and easy and I forgot to give oh his cherry pie and custard!! He said he woud have it for breakfast but he has'nt so I may make him some more sausage rolls today.

Jane if your towels are stiff when you bring them in just give them a few mins in the tumble drier and it will soften them up. You don't have to have any heat on. I don't mind a hard towel after a shower but we do have soft water down here. They are always better if they blow well in the breeze too.

Anne I hope both your BIL's ops go off ok and they can make a quick recovery.

Poor Gill with another virus. Hope you feel better soon. How are the gates looking? I bet thats a good job out of the way.

Oh is back up the hedge this morning and I just heard the hedge cutter going so I am going to have a look.

Morning all,

Lovely and sunny here now after a wet start to the day ,Colin has his hospital appointment for his ears to be sucked out this afternoon so we're usìng the park and ride to the hospital, theres a load of road works going on near the hospital which means you can get there ok but you have to come back home by another route so it will be easier going on the bus .

Poor Gill with another virus, with all the stress and worry you've had lately you were probably low ,i hope you soon feel better.

So your dog sitting again then Frank ,don't you go spoiling him :-D :-D i know you will .

Lovely sunny morning here and we're just back from shopping!
No Frank I certainly wouldn't cut someone else's grass for them, apart from anything else it could be construed as trespass, and t.b.h how other people keep their gardens is up to them!! Mind you I wouldn't be washing and ironing (!!) someone else's bed linen, except in a dire emergency!!
We're off out this afternoon to Malborough to visit an in-law, so need to have an early lunch, give Cas a good run as she'll be left at home - dogs aren't allowed!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 May 2018 13:09

I always remember Malborough as a nice town. Nice shops. When I was young and we came down to Devon we always stopped in Malborough so mum could have a look around the shops. Have a good trip Liz.

I have 18 sausage rolls in the oven.

Must get some lunch after this COC. Oh has come in to have one and he thinks he will cut the edge of the hedge first before he cuts anymore of the top.

DISASTER HAS STRUCK. We have lost our PASSPORTS. Jan rang this morning for our details so she could book us in on line. I went to my bedside draws, where they are kept, not there. We have turned the bungalow upside down. I have had the car glovebox emptied and door pockets. Computer desk and trays. Roa has been through every handbag, I have been through jacket pockets, you name it we have been there. The next step will be to make a booking at Peterborough Passport Office, and drive there to buy new ones. What a Blooming job that will be.

At the moment I feel as if I could have a heart attack at any time. I am so wound up and shaking like a leaf. I am going to take a couple of pain killers and see if I can rest for a while.

I can see I will not rest until they are found, we can't even think when we last used them.

What a lovely day this has turned out to be. NOT. !!!!

Oh no Frank , what about in your suitcases are they tucked into any of the zip compartments, are they with any insurance papers or with European Health Insurance Card if you have them.
How many weeks before you go ?

Hospital was busy but Colin went in on time ,we're now having a nice cuppa.

Frank

Frank Report 10 May 2018 16:50

Hi Mandy, We have been through everything. I think the last time we used them was when we made new wills. I have been in touch with them, and they aren't there. Every time I walk passed a draw or cupboard I look in them. I am at the point now, of giving up, and making an appointment at the Passport Office. MORE EXPENSE . They still have FIVE YEARS left on them. :-P :-P :-P :-( :-( :-(

Glad everything went well with Colin at the hospital.

Ros is at Choir practice tonight, so I will no doubt still be turning out draws and cupboards. !!!

Jane Report 10 May 2018 17:20

Afternoon Everyone

Oh Frank!!!! the passports have to be somewhere. Don't go yet to Peterborough just yet. They are bound to turn up. Larry did that a few years ago in a real panic. He drove to Cardiff for an emergency new one and then found his old one in a trouser pocket .Have you a filing cabinet where you keep all important paperwork? They may be stuck between some papers. Maybe a break from searching will do you good for a few hours and it might just come back to you as where they would be. I do understand though what a tizzy you must be in.
Maybe Biggles can sniff them out :-D

That was sensible to do the Park and Ride to the hospital Mandy for OH's ears. I bet his ears feel a lot clearer again now. Is it a couple of times a year he has them done?

Gill,I am so sorry you are not well again. You seem to be getting these viral things so often .Would it be worth asking to have a blood test just to see if anything shows up?
I hope it doesnt last too long <3

Mel thanks for the tip of putting the dry towels in the tumble drier for a bit of a tumble.
I have done that and they have softened up quite a lot now :-D

I hope Liz is enjoying the afternoon in Marlborough visiting family(or was it friends).
The sun is out now .It has been quite cloudy for most of the day,so better late than never.
Thomas had me up at 4.30 ,but when I opened the back door it was raining so he was NOT going to go out. I went back to bed and then 5am he was back miaowing at me. This time it had stopped raining so he shot out .So it was back to bed again and I slept until 8.

Loads of washing done today and all dry. But I did have one mishap. Chris had put a thick cardigan in the wash basket so it went in the machine. It wasn't until I took it out and thought it looked a bit odd I realised it should have been hand washed :-S :-S

I told him that anything that needs hand washing never goes in the basket.I dont think he is too happy about it as it is his favourite thick cardigan . I am sure it is still wearable but wont look quite the same as it did !I think it was a very expensive one too :-S :-S.

Sausages ,Parmentier Potatoes, and a tray bake of the usual things.Peppers,Mushrooms,Red Onion, Courgette and Asparagus. It is so good to see all the English Asparagus in the shops now :-D :-D

Chris is just going to have a bonfire in the incinerator. It will only take a few minutes as it is cardboard .

Anne,I hope both your BIL's are doing well after their ops yesterday. I am sure the hip replacement will work well and really hope that your other BIL recovers from the Bowel Cancer. He will be so relieved not to have a bag. I wish them both well.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 10 May 2018 18:17

So you had them when the wills were done ,when you came home did you have papers ? are they with them in an envelope .
Also have you got one of those cabinet files with the cardboard files on a runner , we had one of those and some papers had slipped between the files and ended up on the bottom of the cabinet .
Did you have a jacket on when you went out to do the wills or even a coat on if it was cold out ,you might have slipped them in the pocket when they were handed back to you .

Yes Jane he has them done every six months , he just seems to make so much wax ,when he told the nurse he now has hearing aids she said oh you'll make more wax now you have them .
So not in Chris's good books putting his cardi in the washing machine :-D would it revive it a bit if you now give it a hand wash ? or won't he let you near it now :-D

Jane

Jane Report 10 May 2018 18:48

He can wash it himself Mandy LOL That actually might be a good idea :-D
Oh crikey maybe OH will have to have his ears done more than twice a year now!.
I keep trying to think of places where these passports might be!!!!! They HAVE to be somewhere in the bungalow.
Fingers crossed they turn up tonight, otherwise our Frank will not have any sleep ! :-S

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 10 May 2018 18:59

I hope they turn up for them too , it's awful when you loose some thing , you just carn't get it out of your mind ,Frank has broken nights sleep now so this will play on his mind all night as i know it would me .

I think if it was me i would get all the things out that i would normally use when i go away ,suitcases, flight bags wash bags and handbags and check all inside ,do you use shoe bags for your shoes ? just trying to think where they might be !!!!

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 10 May 2018 19:29

Oh dear Jane!!! It's so easily done! I had a woollen stole many moons ago that got into a hot wash!! It shrank beyond recognition, so that was that !!
Frank your passports could have gone down the back of a drawer if it was a bit full. I've had that happen with odds and ends in the past, just a thought!
We had a lovely afternoon. It was so nice to see the in-law and Malborough was sunny but not too warm for wandering about!
Oh dear Gill, I think Jane is right and a check up with the GP might be a good idea. Time for supper and Kate Humble!!

Anne

Anne Report 10 May 2018 19:32

I too hope Frank locates the missing passports as everyone else says they must be in the bungalow some where lets hope they turn up before bedtime .Did you take marriage and birth certificates when you had the wills done if so maybe they are with them.

Derrick's hip replacement went well and he hopes to be home tomorrow. When Diane [his wife] got home after taking him to the hospital she found her kitchen full of ants they had even got into the dishwasher. Tony is now in the high dependency ward,

I do hope Gill soon feels better it must be getting her down to keep getting these episodes as Jane suggests it sounds like a visit to the Doctor is needed,

Pleased that you had an enjoyable day in Malborough Liz. I expect Cas gave you a good welcome when you got home

I expect Colin is pleased to have his ears cleared again Mandy it's not nice having blocked ears.

Your meal sounds really appetising Jane, we had chicken jalfrezi not home made but one of Charlie Binghams meals

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 May 2018 22:29

O dear Frank I don't know what to say about the passports. It was some years ago when you sent us pictures of yourself and Ros in a swimming pool abroad. Would you have taken them when you went to make the new wills? Having never had a passport thats one thing I never lose!! :-D You really need one of those note books I made mum have to write in where you put things.

I don't think Ann has found her memory stick thing yet either. That was put somewhere safe.

Glad you had a good day out Liz and like someone else said I bet Cas was glad to see you back home. I can just imagine the tail wagging as well as the botty.

I have spent most of the day indoors not doing anything much except cooking and getting meals. I cooked sausage rolls again before lunch, then got lunch and then got the dinner underway this afternoon. We had sheep sh*t pie with carrots onions and spring greens followed by cherry pie and custard.

I feel whacked tonight so am signing out now so see you all in the morning and I hope Frank finds those elusive passports.............

Frank

Frank Report 11 May 2018 09:09

Good morning to all you lovely ladies, and thank you for your concern about the passports.

I continued to search last night, having out draws that I had already searched, behind cushions, under cabinets. I pulled all the draws out of my bedside cabinet, but they hadn't gone down the back. !!!

Ros is going to get Passport forms from the Post Office this morning, and take me back to get my Photo taken. She will see what time it will take to get them through their "CHECK AND SEND" service. If it looks like being to tight for time, I will ring Peterborough and make an appointment. They do a SEVEN DAY service at the cost of £142.00 each. So theres a hole in the spending money before we start. lol lol.

I bet you are in Chris's bad books now lady Jane, as you rightly said, he shouldn't have put it with the everyday washing. I bet he won't do that again. :-0 :-0 :-0

So our Gill is poorly again, there must be something causing these episodes. You must get them checked by your GP. Do it SOON. :-| :-| :-|

I'm glad you found your inlays in good shape Liz, Marlborough is one place I don't think I have been, but seen plenty of signs to it on my travels down that way.

Mandy, Like Colin, many years ago (40 plus) I went through a stage where I made lots of wax in my ears. I went one time to have them syringed, and the STUPID NURSE used COLD WATER. I nearly went through the roof with the pain, and had to sit for half an hour before I could find my balance. She never touched me again !!!

Mel, I checked with the will people yesterday, they aren't there. !!!

Ros is out shopping this morning (GROCERIES) While she's out I will have ONE final search, then try to put it to the back of my mind. I didn't sleep too well last night either. so I need to bring this to a conclusion soon.

A lot cooler this morning, I walked down the garden to get a breath of fresh air. In fact with jus a dressing gown on it was very chilly !!!! lol lol.

Gillx

Gillx Report 11 May 2018 11:06

Morning all

Still feeling under the weather, so I've made an appointment with the doctor for this afternoon. We have to pick up our glasses this afternoon too, so we can do them one after the other. I think I might have a chest infection as I'm still coughing and finding it very difficult to breath. I slept most of yesterday afternoon and then all night, which is very unusual for me. I think with all the stress we've had since last November my immune system must be down as I seem to be getting all sorts of bugs lately. Normally they go on their own but this time it's just not getting any better, so time to see my GP.

Sorry to hear you've mis-placed your passports Frank. I bet they turn up once you have your new ones, that's normally the case isn't it? So you had Biggles, I bet you enjoyed that? Did you just have him for the one day?

Oh dear Jane, so you're now in Chris's bad books over his cardigan? Hope it's not ruined and can still be worn. Maybe you're right and he should wash it himself next time.

It sounds like you had a nice time in Marlborough Liz, it must of been more comfortable with the temperature not being as hot as it was, there's nothing worse than walking around if it's to hot is there?

I hope both your BIL's are going okay Anne.

That was a good idea to take the bus to the hospital Mandy, it saves driving around all the road works.

The gate has been painted by OH Mel, and is looking good, the one thing we did notice is that the fella hasn't made it very straight so it goes off a bit towards the bungalow. Given how long it took him to do it we don't really care. At least it's up now. We're just waiting for him to come back and do the fence between us and next door now. He said he'd come yesterday or today and so far he hasn't turned up, so I don't know how long we'll have to wait for that job to be done. It took him around 2 months to get around to doing the gate so I'm not holding out much hope of it being done anytime soon.

Going to get a drink to try and stop this coughing. My appointment is in a couple of hours then it's off to the opticians so I'm not sure if I'll be back on here again today.
