Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 May 2018 11:19

I am here now so Good Morning all,

We have a bit of sunshine this morning and oh is out on the mower. I have to do the egg delivery as usual and the shop for the paper then if it stays dry I may venture up the border.

I am pleased you're going to take the glasses back but what I can't understand is why they did'nt fit them properly for you. If they have a Specsavers a few doors away you would think thye would give a better service incase they lose their customers to them as they may well do in your case.

Liz its a vicous circle with the plastics. They say they are bad for the planet and they say burning it is also bad for the planet and the ozone layer so its a no win situation.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 12 May 2018 11:55

True Mel, but the sight of those creatures so badly affected by all the garbage thrown into the sea etc, for us outweighs the comparative damage to the ozone layer. We're going to get a proper incinerator with a suitable lid for things that they won't take for re-recycling and have to go into landfill, cotton buds, cling film etc. What's happening is so appalling and we feel that we must try and do something! That's our expedition for this afternoon!

Frank

Frank Report 12 May 2018 12:22

Glad to hear your concerns Liz, like you we do all we can to recycle our waste. Our local Council is very good collecting large rubbish also. Nor that I have used rgen, but I know people who have.

Down at Hastings there are a lot of students in the seafront flats, and are forever changing hands. Out on the pavement I have seen Fridge freezers, three piece suits. The Council just pick them up with no charge. Every morning the road is swept and the promenade washed. Then the individual pickers come along and hand pick any other rubbish. It's got to be the cleanest area around.

Ros has taken the stuff for John to sign, helntaking back some short sleeved shirt she bought yesterday, they are a bit tight across my belly. So next size up. lol lol

Frank Report 12 May 2018 15:40

The rain has just started here, coming over dark, and looks like anything but SPRING. e have the lights and heating on. I don't envy anyone having to go out this afternoon/evening.

As it's our 40th abbiversaey next month while we are way in Spain, U have booked a table at our favourite Chinese for Simon, Sally, Harvey Julia and Lewis for next Friday evening at 8.00pm They will come here, and we will go over together.

Neighbours are off on Monday to the New Forest until Friday, Tony and Val should be back this evening from the I.O W. They didn't ring to say they needed Milk, Bread etc. so we assume they will get it on the way home.

Going to have a few zzz now after getting rid of HIC CUPS. Not nice after your lunch.

Jane Report 12 May 2018 16:47

Afternoon All
I didn't get up until 1.30 today as I spent a lot of the night wit hD&V :-S. Both ends at the same time :-S :-S.Thank goodness for inner linings of bathroom bins :-D. I was up and down like a yoyo for while and just felt dreadful. What caused that I have no idea.I am ok now but still have a bit of a gripey tum now and again.

It is as black as anything here now and is raining. Thomas is in the Summerhouse with Chris. I saw that other Black Cat this morning out on the pavement .I really thought it was Thomas and actually called out. But as soon as I saw its tail I knew it was the other one. I had thought it was all black but it does have some white under the front of its neck.
I have just made a spicy tomato sauce to go with rice tonight. I might have to give it a miss but I'll see.
Oh Frank, that must have been so frightening for Simon and Sally.Thank God he is safe and unharmed. That was a real close call by the sound of it. I hope he is ok now.

Liz having a bin with a lid to burn your plastic etc is a must I think. Our next door neighbour has the biggest bonfires and must burn all sorts as it smells so toxic sometimes.Even though it is a fair way down from our house I ofetn have to shut the windows bcause of the smell and the billowing smoke. But it is such a problem as you say with all the plastics these days. As for people who put those wet wipes down the toilets and block all the drains need prosecuting I think. I am sure we all know these days that you just cant flush them .Why would anyone put cotton buds down too??
I reckon now the manufactures will have to come up with biodegradable wipes. They are brilliant things and even I always keep a pack of Baby Wipes.

Gill, why didnt you say your glasses werent right? Silly Billy :-) I hope you can soon have them sorted now. I always go to Specsavers. Chris still goes to an independent place. I used to go there but think I get better value from S Saver, especially when it is buy one and get a second pair :-D. I am pleased you are beginning ot feel a bit better today. You said the `Dr wasnt sure if it was a Chest Infection.I wonder could it be Hayfever?. Your Symptoms sound just like my BIL Larry had last week with a cough and wheeze and generally not feeling well and she says he has bad Hayfever . He has never ever had it in his life before !!!!

The rain is really coming down now. Chris has just done a quick dash in. No need to water the garden today :-D

Does anyone watch the Eurovision Contest?. I used to watch with my Mum and then later Hannah. We would sit with a bit of paper and mark each country. I gave up watching it ages ago now but I would like to see the girl who is singing for Great Britain. She looks a bit like Annie Lennox and I thought her song sounded quite good.Probably get nowhere as usual though :-S Remember Puppet on a string(Sandie Shaw ),Boom Bang a Bang(Lulu) Those were the days :-D :-D

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 12 May 2018 17:20

Oh yes Jane we watched it donkeys years ago, and I remember Sandie Shaw and Lulu also Abba!! But even when L was a teenager it began to be a load of ###. As I say now I'd pay not to watch it!! Far too commercialised, and the songs are just AWFUL from the odd bits you see!
I have got a bit of a bee in my bonnet about plastic particularly after the Attenborough programme! but not to the point where I'd make neighbour's lives a misery! Twenty years ago I was wearing body shop Tshirts, then it was elephants and rhino, etc, now I've added plastic to my environmental war!
We've bought a small incinerator which will go by the bonfire well out of harm's way.
Goodness Frank that was nearly a very nasty accident! thank goodness all was well.
Hope you feel better Jane!

Anne

Anne Report 12 May 2018 18:03

Good afternoon everyone.

Yesterday Paul took me to the garden centre, I bought mainly small shrubs and a few perennials, some geraniums, begonias plus a few more plants, we got a small pot of plants to take up to the crematorium for Peter, This morning Richard helped me plant the bigger ones and it all looks good now. We came in when it started to rain quite heavily

I rang to see how Derrick is he is now home and pain free thank goodness. I don't know how Tony is but will find out on Monday when I speak to Peter's eldest sister,
he is the only one of Peter's family that I don't like very much because of the way he treated his first wife with his affairs, he thought he was god's gift to women..

Sorry to hear about your upset tum Jane and hope you feel better now.

Frank that was so scary what happened to Simon he must have thought his end had come, poor Sally having to witness it happening a stuff of nightmares.I hope he is feeling ok now

It sounds a real mess up with your glasses Gill, I had the same thing a few years ago with Boots opticians I now go to SpecSavers and they are far better.

Just watching a report on fly tipping some people don't seem to have a conscience on where they dump their stuff . When we were in Madeira for our 25th wedding in 1985 people were actually dumping old cars off one of the cliffs into the sea, unbelievable but it was a common occurance apparently.

We booked our Sussex holiday yesterday same place as last year "The Cow Shed" at Westfield only about 10 minutes drive away from Diane & Derrick. We will be down there for Mark's 55th birthday.

Evening all,

The fire is lit here again as it's been so dreary today ,we had a little rain late morning and into the afternoon but i think it's stopped now.

Gill that was bad them not checking your specs before you brought them home ,they usually fit them and adjust them so they are comfortable to wear , i hope you can get them sorted , glad the tablets and inhaler are helping you to feel better.

Goodness Frank poor Simon had a close call didn't he and it must have awful for Sally on the boat not knowing what had happened to him until he surfaced , i should think they will be very weary on the boat from now on , i hope he didn't hurt his self too much.

Hope your feeling better now Jane ,it's not nice to have it from both ends ,i hate being on my own when i'm like that as i feel i'm going to pass out , do you think it was some you had to eat ?
I use to watch the Eurovision Contest years ago but not now ,might just catch the last of the voting if we're still awake .

You've been busy in the garden Anne and managed to get done before the rain came .

I didn't have a very good night last night ,kept waking with pain from my gall stones ,i couldn't get comfortable so in the end i propped myself up with extra pillows and then i dropped off ,but now i feel really tired so it will be an early night tonight .

Jane

Jane Report 12 May 2018 19:12

Liz , I think most of us 'sensible'people are far more aware now as to how to dispose of our various waste . But sadly there will will always be many who don't give a hoot about recycling :-S. Chris is always saying to me when I am doing something in the kitchen .".pastic bin, cardboard bin"(as if I didn't know :-S ) I do find though it is still a bit confusing as to what kind of plastic that can be recycled . It needs to be made far more clearer.

The rain has eased off here at last. Just the light rain now. Still pretty miserable though.

I see Frank you have found that FREEZE gel thing. I said yesterday I bought something similar, and I think it is pretty good :-D. I have had it on today and have only had 2 paracetamol rather than various other painkillers.
Dinner will be ready soon. I just need to do the veg now.

Frank Report 13 May 2018 09:47

Good morning my sweet things,

What a lovely morning we have here, just hope it stays this way for the party this afternoon.

Oh poor you Jane, on the very odd occasion it happens to me, I feel so bad, I feel I could curl up and die !!!

Talking of flushing things down the Toilet. When Jonathan and Nicola lived next door, they were a complete nightmare. I have lived here for over 20 years and in all that time have had no trouble with the drains, except when she had her 2nd child Mies. Everything seemed to go down the toilet, and I had drain trouble. To start with I borrowed DRAIN CANES, but it happened so, often I bought my own set. It got so bad that I was roding the drains down THREE BUNGALOWS, to where the MAIN DRAIN IS in the next street. I got feud with the number of times I mentioned it to them. Once they moved, everything went back to as it was. !!!!

Anne, I watched the news about "FLY TIPPING" What an absolute disgrace it is. The very annoying thing is, that these "BUILDERS" are paid by the property owners to dispose of this waste, at the Council tips and Landfills. If and when caught they should be fined £20,000.00 and sent to prison for 5 years. You will be surprised how quickly this will deter others doing the same. Years ago I caught a chap one Sunday afternoon throwing TYRES into the farmers field, I took his Reg. No. and passed it on to the Farmer who in turn passed it on to the Police. He was hit with a hefty fine and made to remove them. :-0 :-0 :-0

I was clock watching most of the night, it seemed every hour. I finally got up at 6.00 am. I had my COT and read until Ros came out at 8,30. She has to wash her hair and set it in rollers this morning. SHE is going to wear a dress today. She will show me she has LEGS. !!!! She always wears slacks and tops.

I spoke to SALLY at 8.45 this morning. She finished the Marathon walk at 7.30 am together with her group of NINE LADIES. They think they have raised over £2,000.00 for Cancer research. All together there are 15,000 people taking part, so there should be a good amount raised. They are coming back to a Health Farm just outside Towcester for a PAMPERING DAY. stayingthenight and going home tomorrow. WELL DONE I say and congratulations to all that took part. xxx

No ill effects for Simon, thank GOD. I don't know what I would have done, if it was BAD NEWS. :-( :-( :-( :-(

Tony and Val didn't come home yesterday, so I expect they will arrive sometime today.

I can't remember the last time I watched the Euro Song Contest, must be over 20 years ago.

No worry about watering, only need to check the greenhouse.

It does seem strange not having to prepare Sunday Roast. DAY OFF ;-) ;-) ;-)

I will try to pop in this evening, if I don't have to much to drink at the party. AS IF I WOULD. !!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2018 10:45

Morning All,

I have had a good lie in this morning, got up at 10.30am.

We have sunshine and blue sky with big low white clouds now and then. It looks like you could reach out and touch them.

Oh is up the hedge again and he is trying to shape the top over where there was an arch through the hedge. I personally don't like it but we will see what it looks like when he has finished.

Slept like a log last night and arose at 5.50 for the loo and went straight back to sleep when my head touched the pillow. I had been working on my family tree last night till late.

Hope you all slept well and that Gill feels better today now she is taking the tablets.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2018 12:16

There is very strange things going on with me and this site. I just clicked to post again after reading your posts and it put up the https//www thingy at the top of the page.

When I did my first post the typing just stopped coming up after the lo of low clouds.

I am finding it increasingly hard to get to the last page and get the Error page each time I try to get here. Even during the day when I have been on the site I can't get back to the thread. It is so annoying.

Frank that must have been so frightening for Simon. There is not that much room either side of the boat when its in a lock and Sally must have been scared out of her wits.

Liz I agree with the plastic war but if they are going to try to use other things instead of plastic I am wondering what they are going come up with. I watch The Island with Bear Grylls and the amount of plastic washed up on the shores of that island is horrendous. Have you seen the programs on the telly where our plastic waste is sent abroad? They have it just piled up as there is nothing there that can deal with it as its so mixed. Its a crying shame when it gets into the sea and fish and turtles eat it thinking its a jelly fish or whatever.

When I saw Em yesterday she wants to take me to Rosemoor for lunch sometime next week or the week after. I have a pass to take a friend in with me so it works out quite well really. It is usually me taking Di so will make a nice change to be driven there instead of driving myself.

My right hand is so stiff today in the knuckles. I had a couple of glasses of white zindanfel last night with my steak and thats not the usual wine we have and I am wondering if it was that because the only thing I did with my hands yesterday was hold a broom handle and sweep and shovel up the stuff.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 13 May 2018 12:58

Mel, I think China used to take a lot of our plastic waste, but now they don't so goodness knows what will happen to it :-( We watched a programme about Indonesia the other evening and the waste in the rivers was horrendous, what with that and the poor Orangutans, it really makes you despair! Talking of that, has anyone got their swallows back?!! Two appeared here for a day or so, then disappeared, and haven't come back, so last year we had two pairs, one in the stable and one in the top barn, this year, so far we have none! :-( very strange, quiet and a bit sinister without them!
Nothing doing here today, just a bit of planting out. Baked ham for lunch in the slow cooker, me potatoes, and salad.

Jane

Jane Report 13 May 2018 13:33

Afternoon Everyone
Yes I am finding weird things happening with this site again :-S.I get it and then it goes :-S

Mel I saw a programme I think last week about Rosemoor Gardens. It looks beautiful. You just need a nice day if you are going to be walking all around it. I did hear just now on the radio that Tuesday looks to be good.
It is actually warming up a lot now and is fairly bright. Well done to Sally for completing her walk for Cancer Research. There has been a walk like that today at Wicksteed Parkwhere everyone is wearing pink .I am not sure if it was for Cancer Research or the Crazy Hats walk for Breast Cancer (a local charity).I did see a few very hot looking ladies who had obvioulsy just completed it,and could see many more still trudging around the park.

I went to Morrisons as I havent been anywhere for 2 days!!!. I feel ok again now other than an occasional GRIPE in my tummy which stops me in my tracks. I jsut dont know what it was that caused me to be so poorly the other night. Just one of those things I suppose. I dont want it again thank you very much :-S.. Mandy I felt faint too at the worst of it so made sure I used the ensuite and not the main bathroom just incase I had to call for Chris. Honestly he never heard a blooming thing !. I made enough noise too :-S. I was up at 4 this morning to let Thomas out.He had been in since about 3 yesterday afternoon and hadn't used his tray so must have been bursting !. Then I went back to bed and read for a bit ,dozed and then was up again at 6 as I was desperate for a cup of tea. Thomas was back again by then and strolled in with a very wet tail and back ,had a groom and promptly went back to bed.

I did watch the Eurovision Contest last night, and was so shocked when that man ran across the stage when our girl was on and yanked the microphone out of her hands !!. She was amazing. She did look shocked but stayed where she was and clapped to the music until she got the microphone back again. They think this man has done this twice just recently .Once during The Voice and at another big show.He had a ruck scack on too which must have been very scary !! :-0 We did rubbish as usual and came right near the bottom . I thought she actually did a great performance.

Hope you enjoy the party Frank :-D. At least it is dry and warm.

Anne ,which one is Derrick ? The Hip or Bowel? I am thinking Hip? I hope that Tony is doing as well as Derrick.

Mandy ,I have got all confused with everyone and Gallstones. I thought it was OH who had them (but now think it was Kidney Stones) . I am sorry you had a very uncomfortable night and now feel all washed out :-(.I hope you dont have the same again tonight.

Mel I cant see that the different wine you had last night would have made your knuckles so stiff and sore. I think the broom and sweeping is more likely the cause.

The air is so still here, there is not a breath of wind at all. ,and no sound of traffic either from the A14. It is so peaceful :-D. The only thing is the pollen . My nose is runny and my eyes itchy. Chris is sneezing well too, and even James says his nose is all stuffy.

How are you today Gill? Hopefully feeling a bit better again
:-D

Jane

Jane Report 13 May 2018 16:45

Liz I have seen Swifts or Swallows down the lane. They are so fast I cant quite make out which they are !!They swoop very low to the ground, go along almost to ground level and then and then up in the air. Bats too have been busy in the early evenings around us.I love seeing the Bats . I just wish I could see where they are coming from. It could well be from the bungalow next door as I seem to remember a couple of years ago hearing something about them having Bats. This is the Bungalow which will be demolished (whenever that might be) .I understand the owners have not agreed a price with the developers yet. So I am keeping everything possible crossed that it will still take a while for them to come to an agreement :-D.
I keep looking at our back garden and trying to imagine what things might look like when we will have houses at the bottom and a road next to us.It makes me feel quite upset to think that these changes WILL happen . Maybe a few years down the line or even sooner we just don't know at the moment.I just feel like I am holding my breath.

I tried to give Thomas a good grooming just now as he needs his Flea treatment . My word the clumps of fur that came out .We are in big Moult time now !!!!! I was trying to thin out the fur on his neck to make it easier to do the treatment. He has had enough now and has vanished :-S.The Patio is covered in great clumps of black fur and Ihave only just made a start on the grooming :-| :-|

I seem to have been on the go all day with not much to show for it. I did dig out the old soil in the sweet pea bag and put fresh in it but I did'nt get the sweet pea plants in it. Oh has been doing more cutting of the top of the hedge and he has cut it more or less straight now. He was going to raise a bit up but I said it would only make it harder next time to cut it.

I can't go on Tuesday as its shopping day an dI have to pick up my new glasses this week and have them fitted so it will have to be later in the week if we do go to Rosemoor. I don't think I went last year at all but did th eyear before with Di a couple of times. Poor Di is suffering with her hip too and she is always cold. She has Raynaud's decease.

Jane there could well be bats in the bungalow next door. Ours roost in the apex under the tiles on the side of our bungalow as I have seen them come out just before it gets dark.

Going in the shower now and then I shall watch Midsommer on catch up.

Good morning Jane and all,

Yes, a lovely sunny morning ro start the day. Roa and I have been standing at the kitchen window (which looks down the close) watching Denis,Pm and Tracy packing the car. I spend th window and called out "SEE YOU CHRISTMAS" They can't get another thing in there, they are only going until FRIDAY.

I have to be at the hospital at Midday for my eyes. and again on Saturday for more tests. It is right in the middle of the build up to the WEDDING. Madam won't be pleased. !!!!

We had a nice afternoon yesterday, arrived just after 3.30 and left just before 7.00 pm. They had collection for Cancer Research and raised a lot of money. The food was very nice. Most people sat either outside or in the BIG conservatory off the Swimming Pool room. in fact we sat in the pool room. The pool was covered in a cover, ad only one little boy attempted to get in. ;-) ;-) ;-)

The downside was Jean had a girl singing 30/40s American songs. Peggy Lee etc. Her voice was terrible and the music on the tape was far too loud. With me not being able to stand LOUD MUSIC, because of my brain damage from the Stroke. I had my fingers stuffed in my ears, and still it was too LOUD. I had to get up and go to the other side of the paddock to get away from it. So spoilt my afternoon. :-| :-| Came home with a throbbing headache.

I see it's getting harder each time to get on the thread. I seem to always have to get in via "THE BACK DOOR" lol lol
See you all later xxx
