Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 May 2018 11:26

Morning on this bright sunny day here in deepest Devon.

Blue blue sky............................it makes you glad to be alive when you get a morning like this.

Did'nt sleep very well last night just could'nt drop off for ages.

Oh is out doing the hedge and I am just about to go and do the chickens.

Washing machine is on.

Just been driving the big mower and trailer while oh is on the ladder on top of the trailer. Between me driving and him cutting we have done quite a bit of the top. It saves him having to keep coming down and moving the trailer along so I hav'nt got anything else done this morning.

Afternoon all, What a lovely day it has been so far.

We went to the hospital for my eye appointment, and was called in early. The doctor who was taking photo's etc. was only about a foot away from me on the other side of the machine. HIS BREATH WAS REVOLTING. Gawd only know what he had eaten, but I could have been as sick as a dog, breathing in his smell. Wouldn't you think these people, would be more inclined to take something for their breath, knowing they are facing the public. Without being disrespectful I would like to report him to the hospital, but I don't know his name. lol lol.

We stopped off at Morrison's for some bits, which turned out to be £65.00. What ever did we need to spend that amount. ???

When we got home Ros decided to put up the new bedroom curtains. While taking the old ones down, she managed to pull the curtain poll off the wall at one end. We had lots of trouble putting up the poll years ago. There is a CONCRETE LENTIL across the top of the window. I remember the Tungsten tip drill had a real job getting into it. So out comes the drill, and I start again. This time the drill bent in the chuck. So not to be deterred I put another drill in, and started again. I had it on the "HAMMER" setting. All it did was make the drill hole bigger in the wall, from the drill vibrating against the lentil. I have now screwed the support bracket screw into the raw plug. Filled the hole with a very strong filler and put the bracket into the wall. Hopefully tomorrow when it's dried I can fit the rail to the bracket. No JOB seems to be easy for me. If this doesn't work, I will get HARVEY UP. I am sure he will be able to fix it. !!!

We were going out to eat this evening, but with all the goings on,I decided to cook. A sirloin steak for Ros and a Gammon for me. I will have a couple of eggs, chips and beans. Ros will have fried onions, mushrooms, chips and salad with a pepper sauce.

I see we have a new serial on this evening, and is on for FOUR NIGHTS. I will have to record tomorrows and Thursday, as Ros is at Mothers Club tomorrow, and Choir on Thursday.

I have just put on some BIO FREEZE as my neck and shoulder is MURDER at the moment. Hope it easies soon.

Frank, there is nothing worse than someone with bad breath leaning over you :-S I wonder was it Garlic? There is a GP in the practice I go to who always has a problem with his breath. If I go anywhere (other than the Dentist) when I know someone is going to be close up to me I always make sure I have had an extra strong mint :-D. I would be mortified if I thought I was breathing bad breath over anyone .

Glad you enjoyed the party except for the loud music and awful singing !!. You should have taken some ear plugs with you LOL . Fitz takes earplugs everywhere with him just incase he finds he finds himself somewhere where the noise is too much.

Busy day Mel ,driving the Mower and Trailer back and forth. That must have been a great help for OH.

Mandy I think it is going to be a long time before next door is demolished(I hope so anyway) But I do have a feeling the Bats are maybe coming from there.

Time to get a move on and sort dinner now.

Gillx Report 14 May 2018 19:14

Evening all

Just a quickie I still feel under the weather and now have a banging headache. I've just spent almost 5 hours filling out a form for Sandra's benefits, so think that's what's caused the headache. Poor Sandra has got a viral throat so is also feeling under the weather. OH had to take her to A&E today as she is still complaining about her back. Thankfully it's just bruised and there is no damage to her kidneys. All she can do is wait it out until it stops hurting and take painkillers. There is nothing she can do about her throat either, so right now she's feeling a little sorry for herself. I think it'll be a early night for both of us tonight. I couldn't get her into our doctors until next Tuesday so OH took her to the out of hours surgery when he took her to the hospital to save her waiting a week to see a doctor.

I took my glasses back to the opticians this morning and was told they had done them as reading glasses not for the laptop which is further away, they are going to sort them out so I should have them back in a few days.

I haven't caught up with the posts with having a headache, so hope everyone is okay. I'll try and get back on here tomorrow if Sandra isn't to ill and needs looking after.

Frank Report 15 May 2018 10:55

Where has everybody been,??

Good morning to all my lovely FRIENDS,

The Raw Plug has held, and Ros has put the curtains up, the only trouble is the poll isn't LEVEL, but as Ros said "A blind man would be glad to see it" lol lol As and when Harvey has the time, I will get him to level it up.

Sorry both you and Sandra are under the weather Gill. Hay fever might not be helping with the throat problem.

Mothers club is meeting in the "LEGGER'S HUT" at the entrance to Blisworth Tunnel tonight. I's a very steep walk down to the tunnel, so have have told Ros to take her stick with her, and make sure she uses the hand rail. How on earth Valerie next door is going to manage. I don't know. :-0 :-0 :-0 The local artists have decorated the inside with local scenes, which I must admit I have yet to see. The women are taking bags of nibbles and soft drinks. So if the weather holds out, they should have a pleasant evening.

I tried to watch the film "Saving Private Ryan" but th noise from all the fighting was just to much for me, so I went to bed at 9.45 I had a good night, and even dropped off again after getting out for the loo at 7.00 am until 9.00 am.

Have a good day, whatever you are doing. xxx

I never thought of taking Ear Plugs Jane, I might do that in the future, that's if we get invited to party's with loud music.

I have had the job of putting out and getting back in, the bins for Denis and Pam. While they are away, I will try to get the hose between our garages, and arrached to the fence with CUP HOOKS, "Biggles" owner Anne and Val Barker have offered to water the garden, baskets and greenhouse. So with the hose in situ, it will make it easier.

Nice warmish morning out there this morning. Lots of blue sky and very little breeze.

Minted lamb steaks, Jersey Rotals and various veg tonight.

Morning Frank and all,

I have had a devil of a job to get on here this morning. First the pc did an update last night when I went to turn it off then this morn ing it was configuring the updates and it took ages the when I tried to get on here I had a thing come up asking if I wanted voice control for things like Cortana etc. I had to wait for oh to come in and sort that out for me. What would I do without him? <3

Frank you should get someof those earplugs as they are really good. I sent some to Ann and Jane and Ann always uses them when she and G go to the pictures.

Anyway then I could'nt get on the GR site and when I did I kept getting the dreaded Error Page but finally got to my thread and here I am.

Nice sort of morning quite bright but there are more clouds in the sky today so sometimes its sunny and sometimes its not if you know what I mean.

I have shopping to do today and collect my new glasses and I am running behind already so shan't be posting later in the day.

Booked the car in for its MOT this morning but he can't do that till next Monday so I shall be without a car for a few days as it runs out on the 19th May.

Gill I am so sorry to hear that Sandra is still unwell and that you are too. Take care the both of you. Try some honey and lemon for your throats. I don't know how you cope with filling out those forms for Sandra. I hate it if I have to fill forms in. They want to know too much about you. I think we should all realize just how much they know about us all what with mobile phones and cameras in the streets etc. Thats why I am not aloud on Facebook as everybody knows all your business when you are on there. Its getting like Big Brother this world of ours.

Oh is out cutting the other side of the box hedge now. At least I will know he is not up that ladders while I am out. I told him last week I did'nt wnt him up there when I was'nt around.

I have been watching Tudor Monestry Farm on the telly again and have been enjoying it. Its a while since I last saw it so lots seems new to me now!!!!!!!

I had two May Bugs battering themselves on the outside light last night. They make such a noise and buzz if they get near your ears. I took a pick of one but hav'nt downloaded it yet.

I must get on as I am running late.

Frank

Frank Report 15 May 2018 13:57

Well the garden hose is now in position down the fence. Ros fed the hose along Denis's garage roof, and I was at the back of our garage to grab it. In doing so I over reached and fell A-s- over Head into the BOX HEDGE. No damaged done to either me or the hedge. !!!

Ros is beavering away weeding the bottom flower bed by the greenhouse. I have told her, we are going to find a gardener who can come every two weeks, to cut the lawns and do her gardening/ weeding. It's just getting too much for both of us. Conrad said he will pay someone to do it, as he and Jan contribute each month to Ella's school fees, so he can help us out a bit. We will see what cost is involved before we commit to anything permanent.

We are off the the Passport office tomorrow, I just hope the forms etc are completed alright. or I can see us not GOING ON HOLIDAY, as time is running out FAST. It's giving more STRESS and WORRY, which I am trying my hardest to keep away from Ros.

We have found two birds nests in the bushes this morning. One has thee eggs the other two. I think from memory, they are Blackbirds nests. Thank goodness the three cats that were next door but one, have gone now. It will give the babies a bit more of a chance to survive.

Jane, I hope Thomas hasn't caught any baby birds, I don't think it's too bad catching Rabbits, as they breed so many times, there is a plentiful supply. lol lol.

Going for a read now and try to relax.

Beautiful day here. M is coming to supper so I've been preparing a fish pie which we will have with rice and a salad with chocolate sponge for a pudding. OH has bought a new strimmer as the one he had was very heavy and unwieldy. The machinery shop took the old one in part of exchange and he got a good deal. Now he's in the paddock strimming alongside the ditch which has got very overgrown. I think the reason these forms are so detailed is to try and counteract fraud which is so prevalent these days. Surely Mel in this day and age, you make your own decisions about what you do or don't do?! Any hint of 'not being allowed' over anything would get very short shrift in this house, advice/discussion is fine, anything else is not!!!!
Hope your passport saga resolves itself Frank!!

Anne

Anne Report 15 May 2018 15:34

We also have lovely weather again and I have spent most of the time in the garden. A lot of watering to do now with all the new plants.

Sorry to hear that Sandra is also unwell Gill hope you both soon feel better. My SIL also has these forms to fill out for Stephen I think she says there were about 5 pages of them, her other son fills them in for her as she has macular degeneration.
She can no longer drive because of this but Stephen has a disability car for the carers. About a year ago she was told to go to Hereford so he could be assessed however when she arrived it was on the 2nd floor and not wheel chair friendly.

Shepherds pie for us tonight and green beans, frozen peas with sweet corn

Derrick is still getting on well after the Hip op. Tony is still in the hospital but hopes to be home on Friday.

Frank I hope all runs smoothly at the passport office and you can relax and look forward to your holiday

Afternoon Everyone
I hope Sandra is a little better today Gill. She has copped a lot what with her fall and now the nasty throat. 5 hours on line sorting out all her benefits !!!. No wonder you had a headache last night . Hope you managed ot get it all done.

Frank, I bet you were glad the Box hedge was there to ease your fall into it !!. No damage to either you or it thank heavens :-D. I bet no-one would notice a slightly wonky curtain rail. But it is one of those things that would drive you potty just knowing it wasnt quite straight. At least it is still up :-D :-D

Anne, how ridiculous is that to have a place ot assess someone for disabilities if it not accessible to everyone !!. That is just crazy. I guess there was no lift either .
I am so pleased that both your BIL's are doing well after their ops.
A friend rang me this morning to say her DIL has to have a big op. Full Hysterectomy plus part of the bowel to be removed. She doesnt know if it is a Benign or Cancerous thing but all a bit concerning . She is only 50.

I hope you enjoy your dinner with M tonight Liz. Fish Pie is not a favourite thing of mine but my Sister LOVES it. I think it would be ok for me if it isn't too fishy tasting (if you get me).
Mel I think what whatever we do on the computer even with secure and private settings , and even on here someone somewhere would be able to get our details.FB is fine if you just use it for friends /family and not the whole world .

Hope the trip to Peterborough is ok tomorrow Frank. Do you know where you will Park? I seem to remember it being a little difficult to park very close th the Passport office.

I have been going through some of the drawers again to day in Hannah's bedroom. So much junk that has been there for years :-S. Lots of old photos for one thing of Her and Lee (her ex,who she bought her house with) :-S :-S. They are all in the bin now .I did check first :-D. One photo I did come across is one she asked if she could have a copy of. It is of Chris and her when she was a tiny tot in a chair together with Chris reading a book. I have searched high and low for this one only to discover she had it all the blooming time !!!!! . It is such a sweet pic.I think she was only about 9 months old then. Will send it on if anyone wants to see. Chris looks so much like James!

I agree over Facebook Jane, OH is on it just for family and friends and I dip in now and again through him!! As you said Genes is a public forum and information is easy enough to obtain whoever you are as are most things you do on the computer!
Just talked to L and she sounded more cheerful than she has for a long time! So that's good as sometimes she does sound a bit down!
Do hope your friends DIL is Ok Jane, it's such a pig of an illness. I felt 'very sad about Tessa Jowell.

I hope Ros is ok going that steep path tonight we don't want another fall today after you going into the hedge !!!

I haven't heard of May Bugs Mel i had to google them ,they are funny little things ,i think the name May Bug is better than the other name :-0 :-0

Yes you have to get the watering done with all the new plants going in Anne , does Ruby like helping ,is she a digger in the garden ?

Jane i would like to see the photo please ,that's a big op for your friends DIL i hope it's a good outcome for her .

Did any one watch the programme about Heart Transplants last night ,goodness it was so sad when the woman died and the young chap with the ten month old baby .I had to smile at the young lad i think he was only ten who had had the transplant he said he says hello to his new heart every day to keep it happy :-)

Lovely sunny evening out there .

Evening all, Ros has just left, with a very strong word of warning from me. BE CAREFUL and hold onto the rail, both down and backup.

We were both pooped after the session with the hose. I came in a scraped a pile of Jersey Royals, what fiddle things they are.!!! I did more than we needed as Ros likes them cold. But she ate the extra's with her dinner. Ros was working down the garden until 4.30 pm when I called her in for dinner. We hadn't eaten since breakfast, and as she was going out early, I thought I would get an early dinner. Giving her time to relax before going out. What a thoughtful husband I am. lol lol.

Just going to settle down with one of my Police Programmes, and a cold beer.

Glad everyone is O.K.

MRI tomorrow morning .I know I will have to wear a dreaded hospital gown so have 'done my legs'. That was a bit of a Marathon :-S. Chris did offer me his hedge trimmer :-S :-S :-S Then after the scan it is lunch at 'ASK' Italian again and a film .I think it is called All about a Dame

I had to laugh at the hedge trimmer to do your legs Jane. Thats the kind of thing oh would say to me. I don't have that problem anymore. I used to have such hairy legs when I was young but then I had one of those epilady things and after a while I did'nt grow any hair on my legs.

O Frank not another fall, thank goodness for the box hedge for saving you.

Glad to hear the two hospital patients are doing ok Anne after their ops.

Your poor feet Mandy they must be sore after all the walking you did today. Mind you I have done quite a lot of walking today too.

The glasses saga goes on.............................I went and picked them up and had them fitted and read the card thing they give you but the glasses came in a soft case with an open end. I could just see me picking it up and them falling on the floor and me treading on them so the girl changed it for me to the same as my other one as they are both Kylie frames. She adjusted them for me and asked if they were comfy and I said yes and off up the High St I went. I went into the Factory Shop and bought myself 4 new tops. Just the usual cotton ones I wear all the time and then went on to Morrisons. Went in there and was looking around and caught site of myself in a mirror. They are the right frames but not the right lenses. They have made this pair reactolite glasses too when they should be clear glasses. I shall have to ring them tomorrow and tell them and see what they will do for me.

Liz yes I do make my own decisions about what I do but oh would just rather I did'nt go on there so I respect his veiws thank you very much. My sister in law joined me to Facebook which I did'nt really want in the first place. You have no idea what my other half has been through in his life so keep your opinions to yourself.

It is so windy here today!!!. and no sun at all.Maybe it iwll come out later. We are just having a coffee and will then be off to Northampton for lunch and then the Cinema to see Nothing Like a Dame . Maggie Smith and Judi Dench are in it so it should be good.

Mel you will have ot get OH a pair of braces LOL Chris always wears then with his gardening trousers because of the same problem :-D

I expect Frank will be on his way to Peterborough for the new Passports. I do hope the forms are ok. I have always paid the Post Office to do that check as a couple of times we have made mistakes on the forms and it is a real faff having to do them all over again.

I will be back this evening.
