No i haven't even had a chance today to look at the colour charts for the paint Ann ,i know when i do i will keep changing my mind ,i'am awful at deciding on a colour , now if it was son and DIL deciding they just look at the chart and say lets have that one and it looks good ,i just wish i was like that , maybe i should get them to decide for me.

Mel there are some mean people about ,how they can steal eggs i don't know ,i bet you sell them cheaper than the shops do ,so why steal them .....i hope there was a bad egg in the box and it gives them the trots !!! :-P :-D

No more snow here ,what about everyone else ?

Frank Report 29 Jan 2015 19:59

Here I am for a change, East enders is on , so I am out of the way for a while.

Mel, It was like that here. NOTHING then wallop down it came, then turned to flakes. It must be freezing out, as you can hear the crunch of the tyres going over the ice. :-| :-| :-|

If Jane was at the hide during this blizzard, she wouldn't have seen much.

Glad the decorating is going along alright Maureen. When is the carpet fitter coming ??

The chicken was very tasty and moist. I don't normally cook in those bags, but it turned out fine. There should be enough for a curry tomorrow, if not I will have what's left, and get something else tomorrow.

No Gill this afternoon. I bet she is still moving furniture and making OH help on his day off. I wonder if they had the snow ??

The bathroom unit looks like a chemist shop. Creams and gels, cotton wall balls and wads of cotton wool !!! Will have to find room for my razor !!

I wonder how William got on with his car, hopefully the Police were able to trace the driver and get his explanation (IF HE HAS ONE) which I doubt he has. He could be in trouble for failing to report an accident and driving away.. Hope he gets done with a hefty fine and points on his licence. I wish there were more people around like that witness.

I'm feeling cold tonight, so I think I will have a nice warm shower and put my winter dressing gown on.

Heating is working fine now, thank goodness. We have been without all day.

See you later perhaps, if not in the morning.

Well it's stopped snowing here, just a thin covering about an inch I think. Mandy I am the same with colours. I always find the same one looks such a different shade on different walls as well as when it is dry.......I go round dobbing bits here, there and everywhere till I make my mind up. :-)

What a rotten thing to do Mel. Fancy taking some of your eggs and paying nothing! A flippin cheek and they are such lovely tasty eggs too. It sounds more like the sort of thing that would happen round here than where you live. Do you bring them in at night? I just hope they don't come back for more. It sounds like it was more windy where you are than here with the hail........you needed a souwester!

I can just picture your cabinet Frank! They aren't small items are they that can be tucked away in a small space. I find it bad enough finding space for our our tablets when we've just collected a new batch. You'll have to grow a beard like OH if there's no room for your razor!! :-D :-D :-D lol!!

Yes, I hope they get the person that damaged William's car too. There's too much of that sort of thing happening. One of my workmates parked in a side road in the city quite legitimately, but someone didn't like her parking there and keyed her car all down one side.

Evening All

We had some snow earlier, but it didn't stick.

Glad to hear your heating is sorted Frank and that Ros is better from her flu and cough.

What a horrible thing to happen Mel, someone taking the eggs, that just isn't right. Are the eggs where you can see them, if so, then maybe you could keep an eye out for who did it. If they got away with it once, they may try to do it again.

OH got called into work, he had sorted his garage out so wasn't bothered about going in. Sandra and I have been so busy today. We moved all the furniture back into place and I made the bed up, then we hovered and polished and I did a bit of painting. Just touching up the skirting boards and back door frame, to freshen them up before the viewing.

I then had to make appointments for OH and I to see the doctor in February and then I had to phone the voting people to let them know Michelle had moved out. The final phone call was to reduce our bungalow by 5k, I asked the Estate Agent to let the woman know it had been reduced before she came for the viewing. We had been thinking of reducing for a while now and thought it might persuade her to buy. If it doesn't then it might generate more viewings from other people.

I decided to make a roast lamb today, the meat was slowly cooking all afternoon while we were working so we didn't eat dinner till about 7pm
I'm now busy plodding through all the washing. The ironing can wait for another day, I'm to tired to do anymore today once the washing is finished.

I did noticed today that the vacuum has gone in our living room window so we'll have to get the glass replaced, there's no way it's going to get done before the viewing so I found a piece of net curtain I had. It's about 2 foot to long, so I'm going to shortened it and put that up at the window to try and hide the problem until it can be fixed.

The window is 7 and a half foot wide and 5 foot high. I don't have a sewing machine so I'll have to undo the material bit where the wire goes though at the top, cut it to the right height and then sew the top back on, all by hand.
Good job I've got a week to do it in ;-) ;-).

I've just heard the washing machine finish, so I'd better go and put another load on

Morning all, evening Kim,

Was awake for an hour between 3.30 and 4.30 this morning the old time clock clicked in. Then I slept till 7.30. More snow in the night, and a bitter cold morning outside. I went to the bins in my dressing gown, and BOY was it cold.

We have everything we need for today, so no going out for either of us.

It was nice to get up to a nice warm home this morning.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Wet wet wet here today. The sky is blue and white but mostly white. We had hail through the night and a little snow mixed in with it late evening. The sun is trying to put in an appearance but it is not really suceeding.

The wind was so strong last night it kept blowing the door open to my extracor fan over the cooker. It's not a posh one just a hole in the wall with a big fan in it and a door in the kitchen to open when you have it on but it now seems to have a lose catch. Comes open about a quarter of an inch but does it let the draft in!!!!!!!

Good you have a nice warm house this morning Frank so the boiler man did his job ok then.

Jane Report 30 Jan 2015 17:15

Hello :-D..We are home.
My goodness I am so cold.I should have told James to put the heating on constant.
We did have a lovely time but didn't manage to get to Minsmere yesterday as we had been to Southwold and Snape in the morning .The weather had been nice and sunny but just after lunch it changed and the snow started so I didn't get to sit in my hide :-(
I can't imagine many people would have braved it really there yesterday unless they were very Hardy.
When we were at Southwold I suddenly got a really gripey tum and knew I was going to need to find a loo.I had seen some public ones so I left Chris in a coffee shop and dashed off only to find them locked!!!.So I then had to leg it to the other end of the seafront by the pier .Thank heavens they were open..I'm not sure what would have happened it they weren't..Well I do know and it wouldn't have been very nice :-S :-S
There was no phone signal on the mobile so I couldn't ring Chris to tell him where I was ,but I then realised I could message him.So he went back to the car and drove down to where I was. Then it was off to find a chemist to get some Immodi*..That did the trick but oh what a to do.
We had planned to have a lovely Birthday Lunch .Poor Chris had been looking forward to that .But in the end we decided that we would book a table where we were staying for the evening.
It was a very Dog Friendly place and almost everyone staying there had brought their dogs.On Wednesday evening there were 11 dogs !!!!! in the Bar with their families .Everyone had dinner and most of the dogs were so good just lying down either beside or under the tables.I had a lovely old Golden Labrador called Timothy next to me :-D
There were 2 Border Terriers that would suddenly set off barking when a new dog came in.What a racket !!!!......I don't think Chris was to happy about so many pooches lol....I loved it :-D

I was surprised to see quite so much snow in our garden when we got home. The lawn is still covered. The drive down to Suffolk was horrendous most of the way with very heavy rain and hail. But as we arrived the sun came out :-D :-D

Gill that is brilliant now you have more viewings booked. It does sound like dropping the price has given things a boost :-D.I am sure you will be fine showing people around your home.

Mel that is shameful that someone has just walked off with your eggs and not left any payment.I suppose it is a risk you have to take but even so you like to think that they would be honest and just not think they were there for them just to take.

I don't do HATS either.I look blooming ridiculous in any type of hat.If I am desperate to cover my head I might just pull the hood up on a jacket......plus hats make your hair go all flat lol

Frank your conscience is clear sending your Daughter Birthday Wishes. You are a good man. Some wouldn't bother knowing the chances of hearing anything are so slim.
You never know you might have a reply.Don't let it get to you if you don't <3

I need to get the oven on now and get something in for James. He is driving down to Jess this evening for the weekend.I think Chris and I will just have a bit of Pasta and sauce..He had a whopping cooked Breakfast this morning.I just had porridge :-S.Only because I wanted to make sure I needed no emergency stops on the way home :-D.It was lovely porridge though and I did a drizzle of honey in it.it has kept me full all day :-D

I'll probably pop back later

Evening All,

Well there was a bit more snow by this morning and the car was covered so OH got up and went out and scraped it for me to go to beading. I had my phone on as I half expected to hear the class was cancelled. The traffic at the end of the close was a solid jam going into the village and around the island on the main road. The sideroads were a bit slippy but the others were ok. I arrived at the same time as the teacher and she said she's been stuck in a jam for over an hour! A few people were late but most of us turned up bit by bit. No more snow today though but it's gone very cold. I shall have to get some boots if we do get more, but I find they make me too hot.

The poor friend with the broken ankle is still in hospital after all. (she was due to come home last Monday). It's all to do with them getting a care package for her apparently. But now they say she will be discharged in a week's time and will have to go in a care home/pay for care if they haven't managed to sort a care package for her at home. It seems silly they haven't sorted something by now as her hubby must be having some kind of help at home as he relies on her normally and isn't mobile. They want NHS beds to be freed up but there don't seem to be the convalescent homes to send people to anymore.

It's a good job you cleaned and tidied Gill and are ready to do the viewings. Don't be nervous.......I quite enjoyed showing folk around.........well I enjoyed it more than cleaning the house ready for them! I bet they will be more nervous than you. Just smile a lot and think beforehand what you will tell them about in each room like where the sockets are etc. Then it will just flow once you get started. That was a good idea with the net curtain. We have a couple of panes that have 'fogged' like that too.

You were awake early Frank! I woke early this morning. Even with the new blinds, the light from the snow outside made it seem later. Ros must be feeling more like it now if she's ready to tackle the hall. Ours is the same with lots of doors, easy enough to paint, lots of cutting with wallpaper though. I bet it is nice to have your heat back again. :-) Yes, it won't be much fun on the A14 at the moment what with the usual commuter traffic, roadworks and now snow as well.

That's it Maureen......you've hit the nail on the head, I look like my mother in a hat too!! :-S Yes, I have a snood somewhere. It wasn't too bad when I bought it donkey's years ago, but I shudder to think what I would look like in it now. Maybe I should get a knitted childrens animal hat and get my face painted too.....it might look better like that! lol. Have you finished the decorating Maureen and are just waiting for the carpet now?

Mel, I would be tempted to stick that draughty door to with some tape for now. It must be letting a gale through when the wind blows

OH has been watching telly this afternoon which is not like him. I think he's tired from 2 days meetings he's had.

Better get on and pay some bills now

Ruby Report 30 Jan 2015 18:55

My goodness Frank,
You're into tomorrow already! It will be interesting to see what time comes up for my post. If your daughter doesn't get in touch, then it's her loss, because you have done your part. I've never had that sort of a problem, so don't know exactly How I would handle it, but I've always had a great relationship with my kids and their spouses. Mind you, I don't always tell them exactly what's on my mind - some things are better left unsaid. If any of them were to upset me, I would sit with them and discuss the situation.

Glad you had a good time Jane. I remember going to Southwold when we lived at Framlingham. I loved that area.

I hope you sell your house Gill. Real estate I think, is sold a little differently here. If you sell through a realtor, then they show your house themselves. They don't want you there. Since most people work, it's more convenient for all. They get about 6% commission for their part, and you generally don't see the buyers until you meet at the lawyers office for the closing. Also, most appliances usually remain with the house.

Also, a number of people nowadays, hire professionals to come in and 'Stage' their home. The owners go so far as to rent a storage unit to hoard their clutter and any 'shabby' stuff, until the house is sold. The professionals will re-arrange furnishings if need be, and even bring in different furniture if they consider it would make an improvement to the flow of the room. What a palaver. It seems to work though, and I suppose it's worth it to the sellers if they get their price.

I haven't seen anything from Fiona lately. I expect they're still poorly at her house.

I've been keeping away from the pooter lately, because I must get on with the little quilt I promised to make for my grand-daughter.

Anne, you mentioned your friend having to stay in the hospital. My brother in Wiltshire, has been in the hospital for about two months. He had an infection somewhere that has taken so long to get rid of. When my sister called a couple of days ago, she was told that he would be there for about two more weeks. Well, yesterday, they brought him home. He's an old batchelor, and certainly can't do much for himself. There was nothing set up for him to get help either. Anyway, until something can be arranged, one of my nieces is going to come and stay with him.

I must get on, as I have much to do. Am meeting some old friends this evening at a Fish restaurant. I usually have flounder when I'm out, but at home I have salmon steaks or hake.

Bye for now.

Nice to see you back again Jane! :-D The times on the posts are all to pot and out of sequence now, so don't be surprised to find them out of order. Glad you had a nice time. I know what you mean about the gripey tum situation.....very alarming when you don't know where all the loos are! :-S I had a similar experience travelling where I only just made it. I keep a plaggy carrierbag in the car now to sit on if ever happened while travelling again, just in case.....damage limitation!! You don't often see that many dogs in a place do you! It's a good job they all got on with each other.

Evening all

All those dogs Jane I bet you loved it.
Have you thought of keeping a packet of Imodium Instance in your bag, they melt on your tongue so you don't need water and they work pretty much straight away. At least you managed to find a loo just in time. Hope you are ok now.

Oh Ruby I wish our Estate Agents were like that, we have to do all our own viewings it makes me wonder what we pay them for. Years ago when I sold my house the Agents would do all the viewings, it was so much better and a real help. Although to be fair I have got an Agent helping me with a viewing tomorrow because OH is at work and it's a man on his own.

I don't mind doing the viewing's but if I'm on my own then I prefer an Agent here if it's a man on his own, you have to be so careful nowadays.

I'm sure the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at the Estate Agents office. I had a viewing booked in for tomorrow at 1.30 then a few hours later another Agent from the same office rang me and asked if I could do another viewing and gave me the same time slot. So the Agent had to ring the buyer back and re-book it for an hour later. I swear these Agents don't talk to each other and they sit about a foot apart.
So now I've got 4 viewings this week and we only reduced the property yesterday. I've got 2 tomorrow one at 1.30 and the other at 2.30,
1 Monday evening at 6.15, so she won't be able to see the garden as it will be dark. Then I've got the woman from Oxfordshire coming at 3pm on Friday.

Looks like it's going to be a busy week. ;-)
OH doesn't know about the extra viewings yet, as he's still at work

Yes thanks Mel,

I have just been standing in the shower minding my own business as you do, when WALLOP the ceiling light cover decided to fall onto the floor. Thank goodness it's plastic. Will put it back when I am dressed.

Got all the chicken off the carcass, and chopped up, fried off the onions, and put them in the pot with Bist# and cooked down, will add Chicken and spices later. Boil in the bag rice, so I am done for the day.

We have had a bit of sun and a lot of snow and frost has gone, but the SKY is so grey I expect to see something falling later.

The silly neighbour has put out a line of washing. I would imagine it will freeze before it dry's. I must keep my eyes open if it rains/snows. I bet she will leave it out for a couple of days :-D :-D :-D

Do we know when our Jane will be setting off from Suffolk ?? I hope they don't get caught up in the Friday afternoon traffic on the A 14. That will put Chris in a great mood ;-) ;-) ;-)

Where the old stat was situated in the area between the Bedroom/bathroom and lounge (coolest place in the bungalow) The new one it slightly bigger so won't go where it was. Ros has decided she will strip the paper off and redecorate. It won't take much, but it is awkward, as it's got three doors in it. I'll stay out of the way.

Sent my Daughter birthday greetings this morning, she is 51. I doubt I will get a reply, but it shows I think of her !!! <3 <3 <3

Hi all

Lovely sunshine and blue skies. Typical, nice weather now we haven't got the viewing. Hope it's nice again this time next week when we do have the viewing.

Glad to hear your heating is sorted now Frank, let's hope it stays fixed and you wake up to a warm place every morning.

Can't you get a new catch for your extractor fan door Mel, it must drive you mad having to close it each time the wind blows it open and it would help with the draft too.

OH is in work all day today instead of finishing at 2pm. They asked him yesterday if he could do the whole day, he said he would as we didn't have the viewing anymore, but asked if he could have next Friday off so he can do the viewing then,. Luckily they said yes. So that's all sorted for him now.

At least he got his garage sorted out before they phoned him to go in yesterday, so he's pleased that job is out of the way. It didn't take him that long about 15 minutes, so at least he wasn't outside for to long. Once he gets an idea into his head there's no stopping him, not even cold weather lol.

I'm going to make a start on the net curtain today. I've just popped it in the washing machine to freshen it up and also to see if it shrinks a bit. I wouldn't want to alter it to the correct size then wash it and find it's ended up to small :-S.

All I've got left to do then is the ironing. Think I might make a start on it now while the net is being washed.
