I thought I had sent it to the right address Gill.

Morning all

A calmer day today, but overcast.

Yes, Mel it was the right address, thank you.

OH is still scraping all the old paint off the bathroom ceiling he has decided to take it right back to the original ceiling so the new paint will hopefully stick this time. It's a small bathroom and the steam from the bath makes the paint flake, it's a nuisance having to sand it back and paint it all the time.

I thought I'd take another look at my family tree I need to find just one person from the difficult family to make a start on. I'll be glad when the 1921 census is out as that might hold a few answers......not long to go now, then hopefully I'll have a run on these people.

How are you getting on with your family tree Mel? Hope you're having more luck than me :-) :-)

How is Ros today Frank, is she still knitting the poppies? Hope you both had a good nights sleep.

Jane, I hope you are feeling a little better today and can enjoy your day out. How is your sister?

Morning all,

Guess what? its raining here. Grey sky and not a sign of any break in it just dull and raining.

I started to make another brooch yesterday. Its a pom pom hedgehog but I am not sure if its going to work out yet. When I went to do the backing could I find the pins I bought? Not on your nelly. I found them in the end on my table next to where I sit at the dinner table. Silly woman.

Hope Jane feels better this morning and can enjoy the dress fitting.

Frank did you have a better nights sleep last night? I hope so.

Spect Frank is busy looking after Ros. Do you miss the tree in the front garden Frank? Its going to let a lot more light in to Ros's plants.

I have just lost ONE HOUR of posing. The screen just went blank, and then showed a recipe for what o do with SMOKED SALMON. ;-) ;-) as if I needed that. Might try again later.

Very wet here today, so we've lit our re-vamped log burner and it's working a treat. OH has resprayed it too so it looks like new! I know how lucky I am that OH can, and will do all these jobs. He's saved us a fortune over the years!
We've also lit a bonfire today which is smoking well! It had got so big that it badly needed reducing so, as there's no wind today's the day!
Sorry your sister is having trouble with her knee Jane. Hope she feels better soon.
Glad your patient is making progress Frank and that everyone else is ok.
OH is preparing to make plum jam with all the plums we froze earlier on in the year!

Afternoon all,

A much calmer day here after all the wind yesterday ,it's cloudy but every now and then the sun tries to break through , i can here the church bells so i think there might be a wedding .

Picked some more toms this morning ,still lots to ripen but if they don't then i might have a go at some chutney .

I don't remember seeing Hannah's dress either .
I hope Jane is feeling a bit better today so she can go to the dress fitting ,it sound as if she has a real stinker of a cold .

So the ceiling is turning into a bigger job now then Gill ,Homebase do Zinsser Ceiling Pro 5 in 1 for ceilings it's a bit pricey but suppose to be good .

With the rain your way Mel it sounds as if it's a day of crafting for you ,i'm sure you'll find a way of making the pom pom hedgehog .

We lit the wood burner last night too Liz ,like your OH Colin can do lots of jobs and it has saved us a bit over the years too.

Oh dear Frank it's so annoying to lose a post , how's the patient today ? is she doing what nurse Frank tells her ? :-D

Well I am glad some of you have a calm day because its blowing down here and raining with it. I'll send you some and perhaps we can have a nice day then.

I meant to say the other day that I watched Percy Pigeon showing his baby how to bath in our bird bath. I took some pics but hav'nt downloaded them yet. Will send them when I have.

When I went to Em's with the eggs this morning she showed me a pic on her phone of the red deer over in the fields opposit. The fields are owned by her dad. There were about 12 deer and one of the young ones is white.

Been thinking of putting the heating on but I know oh will say we don't need it on yet so save the oil. I shall just put a cardy on.

Evening All
What busy day I have had. I am off to bed in a moment. I felt ok to go with Hannah but coughed all the way through the fitting :-S.The lady is going to stitch a bit of lace from my Wedding dress in somewhere where Hannahs heart is :-D. I thought that was lovely as I had thought it would have been put in the hem or something. Our next trip there is on the 29th Oct. Hopefully that may be the last time. They didn't have the veil in stock today but that has been ordered.
Then we came home to a lunch of Cheeses(that they have chosen for the Cheese Tower) ,cold meats and salads. The cheeses were delish. Cornish Yarg, Black Bomber,a Creamy Stilton and a Camembert.
I made a Chicken in Mushroom and White Wine Sauce but only James and Gareth have eaten that. Hannah was at a Baby Shower this afternoon and was full of Sandwiches and Cake, and Chris and I are still full of cheese!. Gareth has fitted a Sound Bar to our TV this afternoon. They are all out now. James seeing a freinds new house and then going ot another friends to watch the Boxing later and H&G are in town meeting up with Hannah's girlfriends and their OHs.

I have missed Strictly so will watch that tomorrow now.I will send the pic of Hannahs dress Mandy soon but not tonight as I really am off to bed now. I need some zzzzzzs

Gillx Report 22 Sep 2018 21:03

That was strange Frank ending up with a recipe instead of your post going through. How are you and Ros today?

How did the dress fitting go Jane and the cheese tasting, I hope you managed to taste some of it?

Have you still got the rain Mel? Don't worry we're suppose to be getting it tomorrow so you might have a dry day. How's your pom pom hedgehog, did it work out in the end? Ah Percy Pigeon showing his baby how to bath, how cute. Can't wait to see the pics, Sandra will love them to.

Lovely..... plum jam Liz, I bet it's delicious and much better than shop bought jam.

Thanks for the advice on the paint for the ceiling Mandy, I've let OH know so he can buy some when he's finished taking off all the old paint. He's stopped for today and is having a bath, I've had to run it with the door open to save any steam going on the ceiling, I hope when the door is shut it doesn't make the ceiling to damp.

Well, I didn't get any further with my family tree, surprise surprise. I've got a feeling I'm not going to get any further with these people and might have to look at another part of my tree to keep me busy now the garden is finished. Either that or find another project to occupy myself with, I'm starting to get really bored with nothing to do.

Gillx

Gillx Report 22 Sep 2018 21:09

I missed your post Jane. Pleased to hear your day went well and you could taste the cheese's. Hope your cough eases soon and it doesn't stop you sleeping. What a lovely idea to have a piece of your lace put in Hannah's dress near to her heart. It brought a tear to my eye when I read it.......soppy aren't I?

Sandra and I are watching Strictly now, I recorded it earlier as we were catching up with Masterchef off the planner.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Sep 2018 22:32

I hav'nt touched the hedgehog today. I have been fighting with my family tree. I have added some things but I just can't find this Henry Nevill 1862 on the 1901 census. It seems he left his wife Alice Emily Little and remarried in 1915 to a Annie Pricilla Eames.

Anyway I have given up on him now.

Gill it sounds like you may have the old distemper on your bathroom ceiling. It always makes the paint peel off. I had it on one place in my cottage and the paint just would'nt stay up there. Thank good ness it was a tiny space between the bathroom and the lounge.

Gillx

Gillx Report 23 Sep 2018 10:42

Morning all

Sunny here at the moment but we've not long had a downpour of rain so not sure what the weather is going to be like today.

I've just Googled distemper Mel and it says it's soft and comes off in your hand, the paint on our ceiling is a nightmare to get off so I don't think it's distemper. Thank you anyway for letting me know, as it could of well been it.

Poor OH is scraping away, thank goodness it's a very small room or he could still be at it at Christmas. I think I'm going to have to do a bit of filling of the ceiling when he's finished though.

I gave up with my family tree Mel.

Have you tried different spellings with his surname, I did noticed with another part of my tree the surname was spelt in different ways on most of the census's, thankfully I found them all, but it took a while. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for in the end.

Did his first wife die, did they have any children, maybe he was living with one of his children? If he had a married daughter you might find him under her new married name. It's worth having a look. Good luck, I hope you find him soon.

Just going to start watching "The Circle" with Sandra now, I've recorded it from the start and we have a few of them on the planner to get through.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Sep 2018 11:04

Morning Gill and all,

Raining again here this morning and a bit windy too.

Gill this morning I opened up the pc only to find two messages. One was the marriage cert of my gt gt gran and the other was her baptism. So thats saved me a bit of money not having to buy the cert for their marriage.

Also I had a message last night from someone who had my gt gt gran on their Ancestry Tree and a lot of silly names attached to me. I wrote to her to put her right and as she had the info all muddled up and had my fathers brother as John Antrobus. Now I have never come across that spelling before for Hannabuss so thats a new one on me!!

The other thing is we are related and she lives in Exeter which is about 25 miles from me. Not so far to go if I want to meet her. She has a pictures of my gt gt gran sister Caroline.

Its surprising how digging can bring things up as I hav'nt really done anything on my tree for ages.

Much better morning here so have been able to go outside with OH, check the bonfire which has burned right down, (another good job done!) and tidy up the garden where he wind has blown things over.
We've got one of those sound bars Jane! They certainly do help when the sound is down or a bit fuzzy!
Think OH is making some gooseberry chutney today, apart from that, nothing of interest! Oh the sun's come out! better go and pick some veg!
