Good morning Gill and all WELCOME BACK ANNX.

My you have all been busy chatting ;-) ;-) I have only skimped over them, but I see you have a LOVELY neighbour Ann, We all seem to have one. lol lol I do hope you and Gordon go on alright with your hospital treatment.

Ros has striped the bed this morning, thats now in the W/M. I have put the line up. as it looks a reasonable morning, and should dry.

Madam is feeling her old self again, even though I try to do most things. If I see her doing something she shouldn't, I have words with her. !!!!

Ros fell out with TONY on SUNDAY. She mentioned how I thought she should be in hospital also the other Valeri. He came back with "SHE IS PERFECTLY ALRIGHT" and stormed off. With that Ros said her can get on with it !! I am not to offer to cook for him, and she will no offer to do their washing.

You women and handbags :-| :-| :-| Ros has some that, are so heavy I almost have an hernia trying to lift them. What do you put in them ???

This keyboard is getting so bad, more and more keys are not working as thy should.I learnt to type at 15 years old with one finger, on an old Remington Rand Typewriter. I have always struck the keys hard, which I know is not right for this keyboard, as Jan and Conrad keep telling me. What's that saying "YOU CAN'T TEACH AN OLD DOG, NEW TRICKS" :-D :-D :-D

We have just struggled to remake the bed, and now need a rest :-( :-( Seee you all later.

By the way, none of my relatives have bothered to ring to see how ROS is.

Morning all,

I was so tired yesterday I did'nt get back on here.

I see now why I was so confused about Ann's post! if she deleted some of its content.

We have a dullish days here but its not raining so thats good. I have a whites wash to go out on the line and then I am going to hoover.

O it is so nice to have Ann's posts to read again. Please stay with us Ann as we all miss you.

Gill I have seen that Gardeners World about the pots and the experiment he is doing. It will be good to see the results. I too use a lot of black pots but did buy a big blue grass in a light grey pot a few years ago. Every time I pick it up now a bit of the rim falls off so its going to have to go in the ground now as I can't be doing with things breaking up when they are heavy.

I hav'nt quite caught up with last weeks G W and still have a little to watch tonight.

Mandy I bet Max loves his new bedding. I don't think he will be bring you that but keep it for himself. Does he still bring you things when you come in? mums lab used to bring her the towel or a teatowel.

Suns been out for a bit here.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Oct 2018 13:32

Isn't that a pain when the rim breaks on pots Mel, we've had a problem like that a few times and have to re-pot the plants. I think it's the sun breaking the plastic down. I've still got a few more Gardeners Worlds to watch which I'll do later as I'm off for a bath now, my hair needs washing and I can only wash it properly in the bath with it being so long.

The sun is trying it's best to come out but we just have to many clouds around. At least it's stopped raining now.

Pleased to see Ros is getting back to her old self again, good idea to keep an eye out though so she doesn't do to much to soon, you wouldn't want her ill again.

That was rude of Tony speaking the way he did, I don't blame Ros for not wanting you both to help him now. He sounds very ungrateful.

I don't have much in my handbag Frank, although I used to until the strap broke, so that taught me a lesson. Plus my shoulder would ache under the weight. I didn't really need half of what was in there anyway and don't miss the extra stuff now.

I learnt to type on a typewriter to Frank and did exactly the same as you, I didn't realise how hard I hit the keys until I was doing an exam in collage and all I could hear was me typing, I've learnt not to bang the keys now.

How sad that none of your relatives have rung Ros to see how she is, she must be so disappointed with them. At least everyone else has asked after her, including all of us <3 <3

Suns still out here and its really quite nice.

I played on mums old Remington portable type writer when I was small and leant to type at school. I did'nt want to but dad said if I could'nt get the job I wanted then it was something to fall back on. As it happened I got the job I wanted but I had to type in the office but I was where I wanted to be at the PDSA and I learnt the switchboard there and did that when the telephonist was at breaks and lunch then later I became the telephonist which I really enjoyed.

At school I had an Oliveti writer I think. I loved that one. asdf ;lkj and somewhere in mums stuff up the loft I found all my old scool papers once and there was all the typing we had to do pages and pages of asdf;lkj etc.

I can't remember if I have told you but I have about 5 baby fish in my pond. Two whiteish ones some black ones and a bigger orange and white one thats about an inch and a half long. That was the first one I saw. The others are only about an inch long.

Frank

Frank Report 3 Oct 2018 16:22

Mel, I was a telephonist in the RAF in 1958/60. It came in handy when back in thee office in London. Both telephonists went down sick at the same time. I was asked to step in, and run the switchboard, which by no means was easy. I didn't know the extension numbers, and somehow, someone made me a list of who was who and their extension numbers. I managed for two weeks, from 9.30 to 5.30 with only toilet breaks. I was fed on the job. Something I will never forget.

Lots of dark clouds around, but no rain. Washing all dried and awaiting ironing.

I haven' been feeling great today, so have asked Ros to do PASTA for tonight, which we haven't had for ages. She chops up onion, mushroom and bacon. Then puts the pasta sauce over the lot. Thinking about it, I am quite looking forward to it.

Ros is down the close a Carol's for a meeting of Stitchery Do. She has taken the car as her back is playing up. So together we are a right pair of OLD FOGGIES.(sp)

I am starting to look for a large pair of POTS to put on the tree stumps in the front garden. I will screw them onto the stumps before planting them with coloured firs. Just in case someone takes a liking to them. Not that I expect that to happen, BUT you never know, !!!!

I won't ring my sister or SIL this week, let them think about things ;-) ;-) ;-) It might jog their brains. lol lol

Have a nice evening all, see you tomorrow xxx

Frank that was so rude of Tony to go off in a storm like that after all you do for them , i don't blame you for letting them get on with it ,you just carn't help some people .

No Max doesn't bring you any thing when we come in Mel he's to busy with his head in the bags having a look and a sniff at all the shopping :-D

Annx Report 3 Oct 2018 20:22

Evening All,

I still have the image of the start of Dixon of Dock Green when I say that and the little dip of his knees when he said it.

I managed to get a docs appointment at 10.30am this morning and saw they have now put notices along reception saying you can say what your illness is in a private room if you wish. Slightly better, but you can just imagine everyone's mind boggling at what must be wrong with you if you make that request! lol. OH was going to take me to the appointment, but we changed plans and I went in my car as he wouldn't have made it to his optician's appointment if (what do I mean if!) the doctor was running late. It meant I had to park my car in the carpark next door and pay as, unless I get an end space in the surgery car park I can't get my big doors open wide enough to get out!! The doc said my x-rays show quite moderate arthritis, which didn't come as a surprise. :-S She'd given me a form to fill in last time that scores how your knees are, but I couldn't make sense of it as it seemed the worse your knees were the better the score was, so I had enclosed a note to that effect when I'd handed it in to the surgery a few days ago. I looked online and found the same form there and it gave me a very different score and then I saw that they had changed the scoring system in the past so I think the doctor's form hasn't been updated! I took the score sheet I'd printed off the internet and she asked to keep it as it was much more like the score she'd expected with my x-ray! With their form my score was below what she could refer me to a consultant with, but she is referring me anyway. I could have a steroid injection that may help and don't really want surgery if I can help it, but you just wonder with how the NHS is going whether the criteria will have changed if you leave it too long. In the meantime losing some weight will be better for my knees and for an operation so that's something to do!

OH got on well at the opticians and read all the chart without any glasses! The optician said he could carry on with just his cheap supermarket glasses just for reading and writing if he wanted to, but I think he will get some varifocals so he doesn't have to keep putting them on and then taking them off to see in the distance. I can remember finding that a bit of a bind. He wears sunglasses outside now as everything was too bright for him after his cataracts were done, but she told him he needs to do that anyway as the sun can cause the new lenses to cloud with the sun. I forgot to say before that you are conscious for the lasering, with your chin resting on a machine like the optician uses and anaesthetic drops in the eye. G said after they do it everything looks green at first, then becomes sepia before any colour comes back!

We didn't know we were going to be 8 hours that day at the hospital Mel, so we didn't have anything with us. By the time we left, there was only us, the two consultants and the cleaners having their tea break there! I think the consultants dealt with everyone else before they started on OH in case it didn't go so well and he needed surgery. One of the 2 clinics they use has no windows, so it was stifling in there. The other 4 appointments have taken 3-4 hours each. OH's eyes don't dilate easily, meaning more drops and time to take effect which was some of the time.

I hope the handbag is good to go Jane! I find my handbag is heavy just with essentials and some bags are heavy before you put anything in. Still, those could be good for swinging and bludgeoning any would be muggers. ;-) I remember at work we were issued with those personal alarms to carry and we used to deafen each other testing them. The star may go on the tree Jane, but we are debating whether to have the big tree up this year. It's such an effort to get it down from the loft and G has been told he isn't out of the woods with his eye yet and was told not to lift heavy weights.

Hope you have managed a relaxing day Gill as you work so hard. I can just imagine Sandra enjoying the start of her Christmas films! I never knew black flowerpots couldn't be recycled. I'm sure I must have put a few in our recycling bin as well. It will be interesting to see the results of Monty Don's experiment. I'm right behind with catching up with his programmes.

Yes I have a lovely neighbour too Frank!! lol. They now appear to have put some of the gravel that was delivered yesterday over some fleece on the front. They had raked off the old gravel and it went in the skip, but I think they needed to take some of the soil off too and flatten the big hump in the middle so the gravel won't slide onto the road! It's good that Ros is feeling up to doing more. It wasn't that fast Jag that gave her backache was it?

I did 2 fingered typing on an old typewriter dad got for me to do his invoices when I was a teenager. I've tried several times to learn properly online but have trouble with the bottom row as it seems such a funny angle for the fingers. :-S

Oh my word Mandy, Max has varied tastes, doesn't he! I bet the children soon learned to keep their stuff safe out of his way. I bet most dogs have some things they can't resist though.

Mel, do you get any baby Koi as well as your goldfish?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Oct 2018 23:43

No we don't get any baby kio. As soon as someone in his pond lays eggs the others are there to hoover them up. There is no weed in his pond and he has a massive filter which would take out any eggs that floated around anyway. The skimmer is on most of the day when its windy as leaves get in his pond. That goes through another filter and anyway baby kio have to have very very clean water. A few of the females have laid eggs this year.

Misty morning all,

It was really misty last night as it got dark and when I put rubbish in the bin and turned the outside light on you could see the moisture in the air. This morning it is still a misty moisty morning and the leaves have been falling from the trees all week. The fig tree at the top of the garden on the south facing wall is now all yellow and the Xacordia on the left hand side of our road has gone a lovely orangey yellowy pink. If I take a picture the colours never seem to come out true to what I see. The mists just going now but it was a right secret kind of start to the day.

May have to go to get chickens food today but will see how oh is as he has gone for a lay down.

Frank Report 4 Oct 2018 10:55

Good morning all,

I am well ahead of myself today. I had dinner for tonight all prepared before 9.00 am this morning. I woke around 7.30 and there was no Ros in bed. I first though she was in the bathroom, but then I heard the Tele. She was up at 7.00 and thought she would let me sleep in.

She is at STITCHERY DO today doing silk work, on what I don't know. She has now made 100 poppies, which are going to be decorating Street signs around the village, and a draped Net outside he local school.

I can't believe how well she is, she is wanting to do so many things and insists she's capable of doing things, and telling me to stop worrying.

I must see if Harvey can spare a day to come up and do some jobs, that I can't manage to do myself. I hate to ask, as I know how busy he is, and only gets Sunday's off to do his own things at home. I am afraid to say, that the arthritis in my body is getting worse, and making it more difficult to do everyday things. I think they call it "OLD AGE" ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) My get up and go, has GONE. lol lol.

Once again, I am sorry for not reading your posts, but I am sure you don't need my comments all the time.

I trust you are all well, and I send my love to you all. xxxx

Gillx Report 4 Oct 2018 11:19

Morning all

Another cloudy day here but a bit warmer and dry so that's good. I even sat outside and had a cuppa which was nice.

<3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO COLIN <3 <3 Have a nice day with the family.

I've been very tired lately Mandy and seem to fall asleep a lot during the day even though I sleep well at night. Maybe it's because I'm not so active during the day now the gardens are finished. Or maybe I'm not sleeping as well as I think at night, who knows? I hope it doesn't last to long though and I start feeling a bit more lively soon. Max sounds very active, good job you keep everything out of his way.

So you have lots of little fish Mel. Yes, I was wondering if the bigger ones might have a go at the little ones. OH said he saw the Heron on our roof earlier, our neighbour over the road has fish so I hope the Heron didn't get any of them.

How are you feeling today Frank? Did you enjoy your pasta last night, it sounded very tasty. Hope Ros's back is feeling less painful today.

Pleased to see you are being referred to a consultant Ann, best to have your knees seen to now rather than later, hopefully you won't need surgery and the steroid injections will work. Good news for your OH to with his eye test. Yes Sandra is looking forward to watching the Christmas films, they do seem to be showing them earlier and earlier each year though, they used to start at the beginning of November, now it's October. Last year one of the channels had Christmas films on in the middle of summer for a few weeks, Sandra found this very strange, although it didn't stop her watching them LOL :-D :-D

I've spent all morning trying to find some ID for Sandra, she has to go for a face to face appointment for her PIP claim. She needs to take the Council Tax bill as that has her name on it and could I find it??? Luckily I finally found it this morning so that's good, the other ID she needs is her birth certificate, but that's awkward to as she was adopted so there'll be lots of other bits of paper including her original birth certificate and her adoption papers to take too. I feel sorry for the person who has to go through all that and photo copy it, if that's what they do.

Going to get a cuppa now then catch up with a few programmes I recorded last night. I was so tired I went to bed early so missed The Circle that Sandra and I like to watch.

Just noticed your post Frank, pleased to see you are feeling a little better today and Ros feels she can do more now. I know how you feel lately with being so tired myself, I feel like my get up and go and got up and gone. Sorry to hear about your arthritis I'm sure Harvey will help where needed. Ros has done well with the poppies hasn't she? They'll look nice dotted around the village.

Frank Report 4 Oct 2018 15:14

Well I was so near to having a HEART ATTACK earlier. Don't be alarmed.

I was putting the mower away after doing the back lawn, when someone shouted "Is anyone there" I came out of the garage to see Brother Bill's youngest son standing inside the side gate. He and his wife were coming back from Derbyshire, and knew I lived up here, so rang his Mum for my address. What a surprise, they have just left to go back to Wanstead, where they live. Ros came home while they were here, it's the first time they have met. His is an IMAGE of my son SIMON. and he reckons I am an image of his dad. When he left her said, it was like siting for two hours talking to his dad.

I wanted them to stay for dinner tonight, but they wanted to get back to miss all the motorway traffic. His passing words were I will be in touch soon, Now I have found you after all these years.

I am now ready to go out for the chickens food.

Afternoon All,

It's so good Ros is doing so well Frank and can follow her usual interests. Those poppies will look good, but sewing silk doesn't sound easy. What a surprise for you seeing your nephew, did you recognise him at first? It's good he wants to keep in touch now.

I can see now why you wouldn't get any baby Koi Mel! The big ones must be really big now and I expect they may feed from your OH's hand. I haven't come across an Xacordia plant before, but it sound pretty at this time of the year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Colin Mandy. I hope he's enjoying his retirement. I'm glad Nicko has some winter shelter now, also someone to talk to with there being others in the house.

It's a bit of a pain having to root the documents out for Sandra's claim Gill but good you have found them all. I expect she will be a bit nervous about being seen and answering the questions, but hopefully she won't have to do it again in the future. We were rooting out documents too for our trip to the solicitors this afternoon. POAs are sorted and our wills updated so we just have to go back once more to do some more signing then we can forget about it! It gets a bit depressing but needed to be done.

It's beading at the usual friend's house tomorrow. A couple of weeks ago the lady's husband had a heart attack and she thought she'd lost him but after a few days in hospital he's home again now. Her 2 rescue cats have really accepted us all now and don't scarper when they see us any more! lol. One seems fascinated with the smell of our bags and goes from one bag to the other, giving them a good sniff and chin rub.She treats us like extra servants who have turned up just for her, miaowing at the sun room door to be let out......then in........then out again.

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Oct 2018 18:33

How lovely Frank, what a surprise for you seeing your nephew and for him to say it was like talking to his dad. It must of felt strange to you with him looking so much like Simon to.

We really should start thinking about making a Will Ann, but we always think we're to young only just being in our 50's but with what happened to OH's brother passing away at 49 last April I guess it's something that needs to be done sooner rather than later. Yes, Sandra's a bit nervous but she has had a few of them in the past so sort of knows what to expect, she won't be on her own though as OH goes with her. She's allowed to take someone with her if she wants.

I don't know if any of you have see the news and the Giants that are going to Liverpool and this year to New Brighton starting tomorrow for a few days, well, we've decided to take Sandra to see the one that's going to New Brighton tomorrow. We haven't told her as we'd like it to be a surprise. I just hope it doesn't rain to much, as it's forecast to.

The cats sound funny Ann, I like the way you said they think they have more slaves now. What is that saying "Dogs have owners, cats have slaves" How true that is. :-D ;-) Sorry to hear about the lady's husband, pleased to see he's back home now.

I've just spent the last few hours asleep again and still feel tired, I think if this carries on I might have to see the doctor. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the change I'm going through at the moment. Has this happened to any of you at my age? I don't really know anything about the menopause so don't know if being tired all the time is one of the symptoms. I was only awake for about 4 hours today before I started feeling tired again. I hope you don't mind me asking?
