Evening all,

It started off sunny here, but has clouded over now.

Pleased to see you back Frank. Good news for Ros. I agree with you over putting reserve signs on all the tables, it's not fair on the locals who keep the business going in the quiet months. How sad about the little kitten, it must of been a shock to hear.

So you've had a quiet day then Liz, it's nice to relax every now and then isn't it?

I've felt more worn out today than yesterday Mandy, which surprised me as I had 8 hours sleep last night, so it's another early night for me.

I bet you're relived to have your water back to normal now Mel. How nice to see the kingfisher, what a shame you didn't get a picture.

We've been out all day visiting MIL and doing the rounds at the garden centres looking for plants for our planters, I've found quite a few so will choose which ones to use tomorrow, the rest will be put in pots to dot around the winter borders for a bit of colour. I found the climbing bluebell plants the same as mum gave me last year so they'll definitely be going in the planters. I've finished the two planters for the front so they can be planted up now, the other planter that OH is making is for the back garden which hopefully he'll finish tomorrow then he'll paint it and I'll plant that one up. Both gardens will be finished then, until next year LOL.

The F1 is on now so I'm off to watch that, OH is cooking tonight which is nice as I hurt my back the other day lifting up a bag of stones and it's been playing me up today. Hopefully a bit of rest should sort it out. I must admit it's nice to have a day off from cooking.

We're having the last of the sweet corn for supper together with the remains of the beef done up as a curry with boiled rice. All cooked by OH, but then he does a lot of the cooking anyway, so it's a normal occurrence here Gill!!
I expect the remaining puss will be watched like a hawk Frank! Trouble is not only do they risk being run over, but expensive cats run the additional risk of being stolen! Can be stressful! Give me a bog standard moggy any day!!
Yes Gill we love our peaceful days just pottering around together! :-D. Derby and Joan live here!!!

Morning all,

Quite a bright morning here today but not really sunny and the sky is pale grey.

I think I told you that my cousin was coming over from Ohio in October, well she wrote to me this morning to say she had lost my other cousins address. Silly girl. All sent now so she can put her mind to rest.

Does everybody feel ok this morning? Did you all sleep well?

I have been put on a different make of statin to the ones I usually have and have done nothing but itch ever since. I am sure its the pills and its not just one part of my body, it could be arms hands neck legs as if I have had a shower and the soap has'nt agreed with me.

Frank Report 2 Sep 2018 11:11

Good morning Mel and all,

Nice warm sunny morning here. "Biggles "is in and out like a fiddlers elbow. He certainly likes being with us, he gets lots of fuss. He loved laying on his back for a tummy rub. lol lol.

I agree Liz, the two cats we have had were both ordinary moggies, and were so affectionate, we miss not having a pet, but at our age, I don't think it would be fair to the animal. When we are away in Spain or down Devon, who do we have to look after them/it ???

That's not good Mel, you will have to have words with your GP to get them changed.

Gill, when are you going o STOP buying plants for your garden ?? I can just imagine how lovely they must look when in bloom. xxx

Ros is on the phone to Harvey, he is getting over his loss of the kitten. Lara and her family are at his holiday Caravan in France. He will go down by train later this month to lock everything away for the winter. Why she can't do it I don't know. It would save him all that time and money if she did. :-| :-| :-|

I had better get on, with the veg. for dinner tonight. Roast Beef this week.

I had another good night last night, where poor old Ros was in and out to the loo all night. She is wondering if she has another INFECTION.. Poor woman. xxx <3 <3

Frank at the moment we don't have a GP as our surgery closed down when the doc retired. We have to go to Holsworthy now if we want to see a doc and you never get the same one. The practise was supposed to be taken over but they couldnt agree on a price. The doc owned two places one in Hatherleigh and the Shebbear one. I don't think you are supposed to be without a named doctor by law?

Just having a COC decafe. Has Ros tried the Decafe tea and coffee?

Where is everybody?

I have been cooking sausage rolls for tea and made a big waldof salad. Nice...... :-D

Its so hot here and with the oven on too I have had to open all the windows and doors. There's no sun but its very oppressive.

Gillx Report 3 Sep 2018 09:34

Morning all

Raining here today but I think it's going to brighten up this afternoon.

So you were cooking sausage rolls yesterday Mel, I bet your OH loved them, is there many left?

I was busy all day yesterday sorting out the plants I bought the day before. I decided to put just three plants in each of the planters as the climbing bluebell (sollya) grows very wide and tall and I wanted it to have the space to grow, they are quite small at the moment, but if the one my mum gave me is anything to go by, it'll shoot up next year. The other two plants I put each end of the planters were Choisya's and Leucothoe's, so when they all flower it'll be very patriotic in Red White and Blue. . :-D :-D I was going to put a Hellebore in there to but like I said I needed the room for the Sollya to grow. All I need to do now is add a few bulbs then they are finished.

OH never got around to doing anymore of the planter for the back garden as we were so busy with sorting out the plants and he wanted to cut the lawns, with it being forecast for rain today, so when it dries up a bit he'll get back to it. I've decided to put the Bluebell Climber mum gave me in that one as it's getting very big now and almost fills one side of my greenhouse, at this rate I won't get it out of the greenhouse if I leave it in there much longer. I'm not sure what other plants I'll add to it, it all depends on how much room I have left over.

So that's my news. Today I'm going to sort out this form I have for Sandra and get that posted, I ran out of time over the weekend and with the weather being so nice I didn't want to be stuck indoors.

I hope Ros is feeling a bit better today Frank, you're sounding more your usual self now too. Yes, I do have quite a few plants, I was hoping to use some of the evergreens for the planters but when we changed the borders ready for winter there were none left which is why I had to go and buy a few more, otherwise the planters would of been empty. It's all starting to look nice now though.

Next door has been sold and they are planning on building an extension, so they'll be lots of noise and dust everywhere for a while. I think it'll probably be the beginning of next year when the work starts. Apparently they looked at the extended bungalow down the road but it had been sold so they got the owner's builder's number and are going to copy the layout when they've bought next door.

They viewed the property last Thursday evening but we didn't see them, all I know is it's a couple, but nothing else, I hope they are nice and not like Mr Grumpy on the other side. The couple who moved in on the other side of Mr Grumpy are very weird when we were moving the second planter into it's place, we had to rush as it was getting dark, he suddenly appeared in next door's garden and gave us the fright of our lives, it was getting quite dark by then and he said "Do you want a hand?", then promptly starting talking about Mr Grumpy and asking us if we knew if he was in as his back door was wide open, bearing in mind he can't see his neighbours back door without walking down his drive. Then yesterday when OH was cutting the front lawn he and his wife was standing in the front garden right in the middle of their lawn staring at OH while he cut the grass......very weird. Their surname is Wier so we call them the Weird's. So we have two strange neighbours already, the last thing we want is a third on the other side of us............time will tell I suppose.

It was very quiet on here yesterday, just Frank and Mel, what was everyone else doing? Taking advantage of the remaining few days of nice weather?

Morning Gill and all,

Grey sky again but still brightish thats the only way I can decribe it really but its not raining and thats the important thing.

So Gill you have your plants to go in the planters. They should look nice once planted.
Did you watch the race yesterday? We did.

May have to go to Holsworthy today for chicken food so will see how I get on as hip is still a bit sore. I have stopped taking the pain killers as I don't want to have to rely on them if I can help it.

Frank Report 3 Sep 2018 10:54

Good morning Gill and all.

Today is my brother Jacks birthday, he died in 1963 from a heart attack. He was only 49 and fit as the BUTCHER'S DOG. He never wore an overcoat, no matter how cold it got. He taught me to play football, how to box. He was like father to me.

Its 79 years ago, that the 2nd World war broke out also. So many dear people lost their lives during that horrible conflict. Thankfully my Father and both brothers came through it unaffected .

Onto better things, We had an enjoyable day with "BIGGLES" yesterday. His owners picked him up around 7.30 last night. We have him again on the 13tth and he will stay until we go away on the 16th, We will drop him off at Val's and h owners will pick him up from there .

How difficult for you Mel not having a local doctor. How far do you have to travel to see one ?? Which reminds me, I must make an appointment to see a Dr. regarding an MRI scan on my neck. There must be something they can do, to help with this constant pain. It had me awake a few times again last night.

Good luck with your new neighbours Gill. As you say they can't be any worse than MR. GRUMPY. Nice to hear your planters are all filled, ready for the winter colour, to brighten up the garden.

I expect Jane and Chris are now enjoying their French break. I will be gone by the time they get back. I think Liz and Ian will soon be on their way to. before to long.

Coffee time for me. I don't think Ros has decaf, coffee or tea Mel. If she does I know nothing about it. lol lol

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Sep 2018 13:22

You must have our rain Mel, it's dry here now. Could you keep hold of the rain for a few hours so OH can finish the planter LOL ;-)
Not having a local doctor isn't good, you never know one might open near you at some point so you don't have to travel so far. Is there a hospital near you and do they have a surgery, our local hospital has an out of hours surgery which OH goes to when he can't get in our local one. That's where he got the emergency dentist number from too. How is your hip at the moment, I know you don't want to rely on painkillers but it's got to better than being in pain.
Yes, I did watch the race yesterday, wasn't it brilliant, the best one this year I think. Looking forward to the night one in Singapore in a couple of weeks. I like all the lights on that one when they show the race from above the track. All the buildings around the track are lit up as well.

It's hard isn't it Frank when brother's die so young, OH's brother was only 49 to. I don't think it's something you really get over is it? Pleased to hear that Biggles kept you amused and you are having him again, he always cheers you up.

Stopping for lunch now then it's back to Sandra's form, I'm almost half way through it now, so hopefully it'll be posted tomorrow. All this because the disability are changing over from one thing to another, such a waste of time. Sandra's been special needs from birth so I can't see how they can think anything has changed in 33 years.........Can you tell I hate filling out forms, mind you I don't suppose anyone likes it do they? What's that saying? The sooner it's done, the sooner it's finished, so I'll plod on till the end. :-\

Afternoon all,

Lovely sunny day here ,we have been shopping this morning as tomorrow we should be taking the children to the Dinosaur Park ,i think it's going to be a cloudy day but that doesn't matter so long as it keeps dry they will be happy it will be their last little treat before they head back to school on Thursday.

Good luck with the form filling Gill , it's so nice when you know they are done and posted off.
So the planters are coming along nicely , i shall have to have a google at the plants you have planted as i haven't heard of them .

Biggles sounds a dear little thing Frank ,he soon settles with you doesn't he .
Maybe you need a few exercises for your neck pain Frank ,Colin use to have a lot of neck pain but since he's been doing the exercises the Physio told him to do it hasn't been so bad , he has to move his head up and down so many times and then from side to side ,just slow movements but they do help .

So the rain has got to you then Mel ,glad to hear the hip is feeling a bit easier ,will the chicken food run be a tester to see if you can mange to go shopping tomorrow?

The tomatoes are now ripening so quickly it's a job to keep up with them ,we have been giving them to some neighbours ,eating some with our sandwiches and i've cooked some too.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Sep 2018 14:39

Put some inthe freezer Mandy as they are good in soups and stews in the winter and they ahve so much more taste than bought ones.

I shall go shopping tomorrow as we have just about run out of everything now. Yesterday when I cooked the sausage rolls I had two sausages over so cooked those with the rolls thinking I would have a sausage sandwich for lunch today. WRONG when I got the box out of the fridge oh had eaten one and the one left was'nt big enough to do a sandwich with. He also ate some of the sausage rolls so I had to do egg and tomato sandwiches for lunch. Then when I had done those he got the box out of the fridge and ate another roll!! I told him they were tomorrows lunch for him but he said its one less I can eat tomorrow. Cheeky bu**er. That means I only saw 4 out of the load I made. Men! :-| I love him really.......... <3

I think I may try and stretch the chickens food till Wednesday as if I go then its market day and I hav'nt been to the market for donkeys yonks. It will make a change to have a look around the stalls.

Bunnyboo Report 3 Sep 2018 15:50

Lovely fine day here, so I've been outside most of the morning in the garden. Apart from that nothing much happening here!!
Next Tuesday OH finishes his treatment, and on Wednesday I have an appointment with the Physiotherapist to see how my leg is progressing. It's so much better since I've been doing the exercises he prescribed so I hope I won't have to go again!!
The senior partner at our Surgery has been nominated by the medical students, for the best GP teacher. They gave him such a glowing report, so we shall see!!
The beans in the field opposite have been cut, so we can take Cas in there again, it's about 12 acres so she can really stretch her legs!!!
Chap's turned up with some timber and is going to help OH unload it and cut it into rounds ready for logs! :-D

Afternoon all,

Thats a funny day for the children to return to School isn't it Mandy ?? Ours all go back tomorrow. I think Lewis goes back to UNI today. I can't remember what day I started School after holidays (Too long ago) lol lol

Your OH loves your sausage rolls then Mel, hard luck with your Sausage SARNIE. lol lol. We use to have a very good market in Northampton bu it's now down to just a few stalls, mainly materials and general TAT. I was spoilt when I worked in the CITY of LONDON. Just down two streets was Wentworth Street (Pedicote lane) on Sunday's. That market had everything you wanted or needed from Neckties, Shirts, shoes, PICKLED HERRINGS (A lot of Jewish people) in that area. Oh how you miss a good market, when you don't have one.

Left over beef in onion gravy with potato's on top, in the oven for two hours, Cauli/Broch. Peas and carrots as veg. Nice and easy and not a lot of washing up.

Ros is back to making "TWIDDLE MUFFS" for the altzimma (sp) and dementia sufferers. She likes to keep busy. She's nodded off on the sofa now, I can see her head on her chest , she will wake up with a stiff neck. !!!

Going to do a bit of watering now. Take care all. xxx

Bunnyboo Report 3 Sep 2018 17:03

Cold meat and salad for us tonight! We've got someone coming for supper (not M!!) so OH stopped on the way home from the hospital to get some ham and a lettuce. We shall have chips as its easier than peeling a load of spuds!!
Frank, with respect did you mean Petticoat Lane?!! Or perhaps I'm thinking of the wrong place! Anyhow, I used to go up to London a lot years ago to stay with friends and we used to love Petticoat Lane particularly on Sundays,. It was so colourful and full of extraordinary people selling extraordinary things. Covent Garden also a fantastic place to wander, usually ending up at Whitechapel Gallery or somewhere like that!! Happy days!
79 years ago since the outbreak of WW11!! We weren't so lucky Frank, out of four family members, two in the army and two in the RAF, two were killed and two came home! My elder maternal uncle aged 24 survived D day, and the fight to Berlin, my stepfather survived 4.1/2 years as a POW on the Burma railroad among other places, captured aged 20, after the fall of Singapore. Miracles of survival I'd say!!!

Morning all,

Dry this morning but we have had some rian in the night I think as parts of the decking are wet and its not from me watering the plants.

I am going shopping today so shan't be around for long. I have some pain in my hip but shall take some painkillers before I go.

I still have Fredo Frog on the patio and the night before last I dropped two mealworms in front of him and he ate them. He is so quick they are there one minuet and gone in a flash.
